The Football Card Podcast #69: A Priest Holmes Superfractor and the Cost of Quarterback Hype
hello and welcome to the football card podcast this is it you made it it's friday and you are listening to the fastest growing podcast in the entire world that's centered on football cards and most importantly football cards i'm your host john aka pat nicholson and with me as always is mister stacking slabs himself brett how you doing can't believe this is the end of the line for the big ugly autumn it's it episode six episode sixty nine everyone's chuckling listening in their cars and on the run nice but dude i felt like we just were in the midst of being on the beach with our cowboy collars linebacker summer it was nice i got a little sunburn and we stumbled into big ugly autumn and this is it man it's it's it's insane so i'm doing well but i'm like reflecting on i feel like it's like watching one of your kids grow up it's like don't blink all of a sudden you'll be out of big ugly autumn heading towards episode seventy and i don't wanna move too fast because we have to celebrate big ugly autumn in its entirety with episode sixty nine but time is flying and this is what happens when you get into the season and i'm we're experiencing that right now but i think i don't know i think the the seventies a little preview of the seventies it's still big uglies it's a lot of big uglies so i think big ugly autumn marches on i think it's an extended autumn like who's the punxsutawney phil of the football card pod who has just someone has just announced big ugly autumn marches on we need to get a special guest to announce if there's ten more weeks at the maybe big dom from the eagles like that's a good one i feel like when he walks out into the stadium if like the if the what is the groundhog day gimmick like if do you know the technical shadow i don't let's see i could google it well you talk about big dog but yeah it's like if someone if he yeah what could he do if the philly fans throw stuff at him there's ten more weeks there we go we'll do that so i was going into this thinking this was the conclusion of big ugly autumn but just this is in one in one moment you have completely changed my mind that this might not be over yeah no the seventies are chock full of some great big uglies and then and then we will finally make it to wide receiver winter so i think we got ten more weeks of big ugly autumn which i mean it it'll get cold that'll put us into december but you know it's not perfect down in the trenches we we love football cards and a lot of the times you and i share what we're doing behind the scenes before we share publicly and i think it was last week you talked about a card that you purchased which i was excited for you and i was excited i was excited for you but i was i was mostly excited to like talk about it on the pod because i wanted to kinda get your perspective and reaction and decision making i'm i'm curious like are you ready to talk about that card yeah i can talk about the card i picked up the two thousand five finest super fracture one zero one priest holmes here it is right there oh my guy yeah i mean this popped up on instagram a couple weeks ago two weeks ago i think many people tagged me and dm'd me the card thank you very much for everyone who did that it was at like ten am on a monday like during a week so i've been traveling a ton i'm on the road again for another three straight footballcard pod road games for me recording over here and shout out the cuisinart brew two is what i'm slipping on this morning it it worked yeah so there was like this monday so it would have been like what we're recording i wanna say ten days ago something like that literally at like ten am right as i'm like sitting down at my desk with this mindset of like oh my god i have so much work to do before i have to travel this upcoming wednesday and that card pops up and i'm like well well now i have to focus all my mental effort into getting this card and yeah i it was it's one of those cards we talked about before where like i saw that card and then i look at my collection and it just makes me think different about every card in my collection where every other card in my collection become becomes a resource to getting that card so shout out bdrr sports cards i believe is the name they were very nice and like working with me because i was like i i'm a buyer like let's figure this out and we kinda went back and forth i had a value in my mind of like what i think a reasonable value of the card is then i had my mega bid number in mind of like what am i willing to pay to just get this card into my collection like i'm willing to pay the tax needed the access tax like just the fact like this card's available i'm willing to pay up for that and we ended up somewhere not far off of that i had to pay up a little bit but i mean i don't care like i just i needed this card it was same feelings of when the jay cutler twenty twelve prism finite popped up where i just kind of was like this is one of the guys that i'd name as like someone i collect to me this is priesholm's top chiefs card like it's there's no other one of one i'd rather have from his like chiefs era than this card two thousand five finest is one of my all time sets i've been asked on this pod before like what a favorite card is and i always say my o five finest priest homes gold x factor because it i just love the design it looks great with the chiefs colors so when the super factor popped up i was just like i am i'm getting that card no matter what so i have it and i'm actually in california right now i'm gonna drop it off at psa for grading and i'll have it hopefully graded here in a few weeks so yeah excited to have landed that card unreal congratulations i was telling you i i think probably everyone listening who is on instagram opened their instagram and that card was like the first card i saw and i was getting ready to send it to you but i saw you had already liked it so i and then we spoke and i was excited that you are coming home with it first year of superfractors in football too right like that's that's there's like that draft picks and prospects yeah that which is the very first that's the very first so shout out that for being the first but i just i like finest better like i just like if i'd had to pick which priest to have it would be this i think i'd have this up there and then his o six finest i think is an awesome card his o six bowman chrome super factor i love o six bowman chrome super factors i think that's so awesome so so that one would be up there too but then that's kind of it because then he's out of he's done with the chiefs by o six o seven so and you know the one on ones start in o four so it'd be like his bowman chrome blue one of one the like you know it tops chrome wasn't doing superfractors so they're intel o six he has an o six tops chrome superfractor out there so i mean the pool's small there's actually a question that talks about this later but the amount of priest holmes chiefs one of ones out there is very small so can we get the all of this was rationale for me to spend too much with me on the card this is a this is a good opening here so the in your mindset as a collector in that card which as i'm processing and thinking about it i'm considering man i think this is probably preece holmes' best card the you you lean obviously there's the cards before he was a chief and you know some would argue that like does does he have a rookie masterpiece he he doesn't but he has a gem masters and he no there's a masterpiece in he has a masterpiece in the ravens two thousand for sure i don't know about ninety nine but he has a ninety nine gem masters which is a sick card but it's sitting it's available right now someone has it listed with like a thirty eight thousand price tag which is crazy a beautiful card but again like the ravens like i yeah that's what i was gonna say very like jersey focused in my mind but awesome card i would i mean i would i would take that card i would own that card if it if it worked out but not i don't value it as much as cheap stuff the one thing that i wanna mention before we get off of this is you said it and this is something that i've been thinking about and i will put out a piece of content where i reference this before this goes out but how do you describe that feeling because i was looking at my cards recently and i pulled out my andrew luck pylon and even when it was dm'd to me via gunther at gunther's cards when when the card was presented even now when i'm looking at my cards it it gives me that feeling like that feeling in my stomach of man this is it this is like for me and all my interests and what i value this is like top of the mountain like we look through so many cards when we're searching we're looking at safe searches we see a lot of cool cards and you know we hit watch but we don't buy them but there's this like compelling feeling that we have when a card presents itself and we and it's instant it's like we know we need this card like with this priest card like how do you how do you describe that feeling as a collector and what you felt when you saw the o five finest pre super fracture for the first time i feel like i had experience with it with like the cutler situation where i remember when the cutler popped up my gut was like to diss the card almost where i was like nope it's overhyped it's gonna get pumped like i whatever like i didn't wanna believe that that card was like something i needed because i knew how much it was gonna be and all that but then i like and it was at auction so i had time to like come around and like think about it and eventually came to the conclusion i have to get that card i'm willing to sell whatever so when this popped up the first it it was like the same feeling of like woah that's one of those cards i just never thought i was gonna see like i another hypothetical card i didn't know if it was out there who knows if it survived from two thousand five like these o five finest supers like don't that's another thing like the trying to comp it it's like tom brady seven hundred thousand dollars michael clayton thousand dollars isaac bruce four thousand it was like that's pretty much it there's like four out sales out there and so my mindset was just get it figure it out like couldn't come to an agreement that like i can buy the card and figure it out from there and like i'll just be happy that i did it and like so it was like fight or flight response honestly when it came up it was like buy it just buy it buy it like figure it come to an agreement get the card and you'll figure it out from there and i wasn't even like sitting there like looking at pictures of the card or anything right away it was just like i was very not even thinking about the card it was just like logistically how can i make this happen yes make it happen and then like once that's all done then i can be like oh yeah first year super factor oh the red looks great the the super factor swirl on the visor is awesome like all of that comes later right now i was just in like a very like figure like i was in business mode also because i had a lot of work to do i was like i need to get this deal done in like a two hour window let's go so yeah i don't know the feel it it's just a different feeling than like certain cards where i'm like oh sick card should i get that let me spend hours researching and thinking about it there was like i had a sense of urgency with this one and with it being early in the morning and he had posted on instagram and so then like this i don't know if this is a tactic but like the comment section is filling up with people being like interested i dm'd you like i was like oh here we go and then one part is i sent my i was like look here's where i value the card here's my offer which is above where i value the card and then that's a great tactic yeah like i go based on this this and this this is what i value it at i'm willing to come in here which is kind of well above where it's valued he came back or no no no no i take this back he he gave me a price because he was saying like i've sold some of these privately i have like an idea of the super factor market i was like well if you have if you feel that you have a good sense of this like just tell me a price you know we're doing the dance of like who's gonna throw a number out first and he puts out a number which was higher than i wanted to be but not like super far off based on my rationale my insane rationale so i came back with like here's where i value it but here's where i'm willing to go which is like a little under where you're at and so i sent that and then it was like crickets for like twenty thirty minutes and i was like i should've just taken i should've just said yes like i should've just said yes like that it it's an insane number kind of but like let's just do it and so i was waiting waiting and then he came back and was like do you wanna meet in the middle i was like yep again i don't know if that was a tactic making me sweat for thirty minutes but it worked beautifully so yeah just one of the yeah can't even explain how it just it kicked on like some sort of physical response of like just get the card just get the card is all i was really thinking incredible congratulations appreciate you sharon excited to see i you know doesn't probably really matter what the card grades at but it'll be fun to see it in the slab and bringing home a banger to on that last last quarter of the year big ugly autumn buying some grails gotta love it i know who who would have thought i can't believe this card just came i need to do more i need to ask some questions about like where'd this come from like how did he get it i haven't even gotten there yet i've been so focused on getting the card and then selling the card or selling other cards which that's tough too i hate selling cards we've talked about that and then yes so i have a few cards at auction now because yeah i just was like i i will come out of pocket pay for this and pay back myself which is always the i hate doing that like yeah would have rather no groceries this week we're waiting for payments to clear fund it or even put it on a credit card you know where it's like okay then like i'm paying yes off that credit card in three weeks versus coming out of savings but it's all good it's not it's not gonna kill me and like it's fun like to have the equity in the collection to be able to do that and like play with it exactly the that comment you made about like not even really like looking at the card like that's happened to me so many times where like the reaction is dude i i think i've spent thousands of dollars on cards that i haven't like clicked the picture to like see the full thing and examine because i'm like the urgency was so strong i was like i'll look at it later i know what it is like let me just get get this deal done but yeah i'm sure a lot of people out there can resonate with that but yeah what a great way to kick off sixty nine with a priest home grail yeah yeah shout out bdrr for the deal shout out everyone again who sent it that that's always cool too like because the first time i saw it i would have seen it like my algorithm knows me but someone commented on there and tagged me and that is what like popped up the notification so shout out all the loyal listeners in the footballcard pod for your engagement there and yeah the community is strong community is strong i've got an opening topic that i wanna hit you with it's actually kind of a two parter this came to me when i saw bryce young on the manning cast i was like bryce young is on the manning cast who would have thought and you know when you get that invite on the manning cast you're and you're an active player you're doing something right so this led me to think about this and i think we've seen hyped up qbs fail to live up to the prices that the market set out their rookie year it's actually become common practice here in football card collecting or prospecting and we're starting to see a small batch of these qbs make a resurgence the two guys that come straight to my brain who i i threw out some sales in the our closing segment of these two guys but our trevor lawrence and bryce young so i wanna run a hypothetical that each of these two players compete to be in the mvp conversation throughout the year they both make deep playoff runs maybe you know jags go to the super bowl or even though it sounds kinda crazy but maybe the panthers do do you think their prices will ever go back to their peaks or does the previous doubt that was placed on them by their maybe previously not so elite play prevent that from ever happening that's a good question interesting topic i think it all depends on how they play like the performance like if if bryce young continues this three hundred yards a game three touchdown like all year has like an mvp season and then just cruises to a super bowl super bowl mvp like yeah i think you know i think i think if like you watch a player we're talking about the like week over week like awesome performances stacked up really especially like primetime performances stuff like that all of that does matter and so i think if if the team is winning because of this player if this player is leading them to the promised land i think that matters if the panthers go on a run where like bryce young's a contributor and like maybe you know there's other factors like the defense starts playing lights out or the running game like i think yes like it could still happen but i think there's something about people love it when it's like the quarterback themselves like lifting the entire team to the promised land the bryce young thing is crazy how like he starts two and fourteen not great numbers another year of not great numbers had got benched for a little bit but it's also a reminder of just how much of it sucks for like first overall draft picks because they're always gonna do like terrible situation and so but then they really only get a year or two to prove it like you know there was times i feel like after bryce young's second year when he's getting benched it was like bryce young experiment is over like he's not good and like that's not fair for a young kid to have to be expected to save turn an entire franchise around so it's the cam ward situation we're seeing right now the team yeah minks and he appears to stink because the structure and system around him is so stinky so it's like yeah kick what would be true if cam ward were in a better situation with more playmakers better offense best better offensive line that sort of thing like would he be better and those are questions we'll never know but i think it's very interesting when we see all of this money poured in on these players up front and that's what's crazy when i think about like trevor lawrence and bryce young like both playing very very good football but like upfront which i think trevor lawrence has according to card ladder shout out card ladder trevor lawrence has four six figure sales bryce young doesn't have any six figure sales a lot of five figure sales but the i just like i just think it's i find it kinda crazy that like all of this money is spent upfront when these guys haven't done anything and then maybe they didn't play great and everyone lost faith in them and now that they're like good and they're like on a winning playoff track that like maybe their their their their the collector demand will never reach where the hype demand would be and that's like a very we know this but like that is a very volatile thing and it's like why it it i asked the question especially as like we're looking on twenty twenty seven in the quarterback allotment is we've got a whole variety of wonderful players who could all make an impact in the nfl it's like like does it's the question is like as a collector not as someone who's trying to make money but like as a collector is it is it even worth it to try to buy these guys up front and it it doesn't appear to be if trevor lawrence's of the world and bryce young's of the world can go on and maybe a deep playoff run and maybe hit the super bowl and still never reach their peak yeah and like i don't know it's just like such a hard game to play game to win is the current quarterback because then you have the quarterbacks that start off amazing you have a jaden daniels or drake may even but then jaden daniels more so than has had like fallen on harder times i'd say drake may i guess he's on the he's on the rebound after this week maybe well i i meant like jaden's rookie year was like awesome drake may's second year was awesome but like and then who yeah it's just it's never gonna be a consistent up into the right whenever you buy one of these guys and so it's like if that's what you're expecting good luck but it's just it's not going to happen and so then like you're in there playing that game of the roller like if you were buying bryce young two years ago like if because you saw the vision congratulations like that's an awesome play like good good job but it took him being in the league two years for the prices to get to the point where it's like okay now this is a risk i'm willing to take if you bought bryce young when he was originally a rookie you're probably back to even or maybe he's up since then like i don't know i'm just imagining his yeah graph is like a half pipe the this leads me to the second part of this and i wanna talk about brock purdy who's kinda becoming a fun litmus test as we're talking about this so brock purdy was number one in qbr in twenty twenty three he was seventh in twenty twenty four he was second in twenty twenty five and now has a commanding lead at number one in twenty twenty six he is now second mvp odds josh allen plus two fifty brock purdy plus three hundred pat mahomes plus six hundred when does purdy become a player that is collected by the masses i mean mhmm like is it going to take purdy to have an mvp season and purdy to win a super bowl for people to be like okay now it's time to collect them and i don't mean like individually like a person here a person there but i'm talking about like having the demand that the josh allens or no i wouldn't say patrick mahomes because that's like another hemisphere but like lamar jackson like when does that happen or is it ever gonna happen like if it doesn't happen up front can it happen later on because like if you just look at brock purdy's resume it's it's spectacular like he he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league he's got the my favorite coach in the nfl kyle shanahan and they're just they're just rolling right now and it's like i can more than and we've been talking about the niners since week one like heading if i'm looking down the road of the nfl season like right now like the team that i feel the best about is the forty niners because they're loaded and they've got my favorite coach in the nfl but like the biggest reason is because brock purdy like he is he is so so dynamic he just does the the job he gets the ball where it needs to be and he's like the ultimate facilitator so i say all that to say like what does purdy have to do to get broader collecting demand when you go to card shows like there are people with grail purdy's like what do you think yeah i think it's he's proven he's a very very good quarterback and like by all the metrics like the best in the league the last when he's playing i think he's gotta win the hardware like he needs an mvp needs a super bowl like that's kind of what's missing lamar two mvps josh allen an mvp mahomes mvps super bowl mvps that's really all that's missing from purdy's resume at this point like if again if playoffs start and purdy balls out throughout the playoffs and the niners win the super bowl it's like okay he just did the thing and also it that's that's on top of this like base of really good regular season statistics and like that would probably cement him up with those guys in my mind even if i don't even know if he has to win a super bowl if he got back to the super bowl did he no he hasn't played in a super bowl right that year they went he played he did oh yeah yeah the first year the one that they lost he didn't play in maybe i'm getting my things wrong but they lost to they lost to the chiefs they lost to the chiefs i'm thinking of what the playoff run when he got hurt though there was that that like his rookie year playoff run when he got hurt in the playoffs okay he went out in that one but then he went to the super bowl yes a couple of reasons ago but that's crazy that like we're talking multiple years of him like being like in the picture deeper playoff run so like i just feel like he doesn't when i go to all the games that all the games season ticket holder and last year when the forty niners were in town i got to see brock purdy live for the first time and i have always been like this guy's can play football but dude his command and his consistency is in it they're like not sexy things it's like command and consistency but if you have an in if if nfl quarterback who doesn't have command or doesn't have consistency and you see a player like purdy you're like damn like this guy's really good but i remember leaving that game and i was just like man brock purdy i thought he was good and he's even better than i thought he was yeah but that it kind of gets to a topic we've discussed on here a bunch about like highlights people yeah highlights drive collectability and yeah like you even saying like he does the right thing and his commanding consistency doesn't that screams tim duncan to me it doesn't scream allen iverson so that's right and there's something there that that's what the the hobby rewards so and not that it's right like i think and purdy's numbers this year are are looking good but it's not like he's i don't know like aaron rodgers when rodgers was throwing for three hundred yards a game and winning mvps it was like holy shit this is the best quarterback in the nfl i don't think like statistically i know purdy has all the numbers that say it but like or or like something about like the like i don't know it's it's just i don't look at purdy i'm like that is the most talented quarterback in the nfl it's my personal just eye test bias which means nothing but there's yeah you'd read you the the bias might be shifted when you see or like what you're referencing and i'm gonna share performance so you've got josh allen just going twelve for nineteen two hundred and ten yards throwing a touchdown but then also rushing for a hundred and twenty one yards that are that's like the the the talking like people like oh my god yeah you might not have thrown for three hundred yards but did you see he ran for a hundred and twenty one which is insane and then also james cook on top of it running for a hundred and ten so it's like sometimes like you just need to run the ball and it's like if your quarterback can help facilitate that by actually just running it himself that is like as sexy as it gets so i i i understand that by like measuring the play of purdy with the play of josh allen and maybe not looking at the deep analytics i can see why collectors might think the way they are they do about certain players well i think and there's watching that rams game rams bills game it was like josh allen took over that game i was like yes they can't stop josh allen like he and it was awesome it's so fun to watch a player like that where it's like he fully took over the game like third and seventeen like i was like he's gonna just run up the middle for a first down and i feel like the whole rams defense knew he's gonna run up the middle for a first down and he still gets it he still is able to do it and there's something about watching a player take over a game like i don't know if i've and i'm not trying to knock purdy at all it's just like i i don't know if i've seen that and then part of it is like the shanahan effect where i'm like mhmm the niners are always good shanahan's one of the best coaches in the nfl and like i'm not saying whoever's back there is gonna put up purdy numbers but like he took jimmy g to a super bowl he like there's like i don't know i like i how much of it is shanahan in the system how much of it is purdy i think they both you know and and that's an argument that people had with belichick and brady so if you're a purdy collector that's a good spot to be in if that's like what people are arguing about that you're having so much success that people don't know who to attribute it to isn't a bad place to be as a quarterback i have not thought about the parallels between because it's hard to draw parallels with tom brady with anybody else because he's such a unique situation but you've got the you know what purdy could always talk smack to brady because he was mister irrelevant it's like hey your story of like being left behind like you wanna talk about being left behind but you have that then you have the coaching you you got the system you got the players per purdy purdy could in a perfect scenario for niners fans you could see a world where instead of losing these super bowls and big games the niners go on this stretch where they start winning several because they've got the talent and then all of a sudden the whole conversation shifts because it doesn't matter that like people could call him a system quarterback he's a winner and winning especially winning at the quarterback position that is the ultimate ultimate prize for football card collector so maybe that's a maybe purdy's career is like us watching the sliding glass door moment of like the tuck rule game like if brady had fumbled their like instead of them going on to win that game it's like purdy got injured in his playoff game and they were out and like this is what brady's career would have been if he didn't win that tough role game is what we're watching for his career i love how we just decided to do this opening segue we had some questions talking about ball talking about cards and we didn't even have to mention our teams this week in the opening so this is this is this is by design but that was fun man yes yeah who cares about nfl actual football players no one cares no one needs to talk about that think about that nope episode sixty nine we did it sixty nine weeks straight shout out us shout out everyone listening to the footballcard pod so i i made a note and then i realized i was wrong thanks to you pointing it out because that official nfl hall of fame website lists no sixty nines in the hall of fame they have not updated obviously since this recent induction because there is one hall of fame sixty niner out there yeah yeah and when i when i saw that it was gonna be episode sixty nine obviously you know i i put my billy madison brain on and laughed a little bit but then the first player i thought of was allen and jared allen being a recent inductee into the hall of fame and i was like scrolling on the sheet and you put no hall of fame players and i was like no there is and and but that's interesting that the webmasters at the pro football hall of fame i mean what else are they doing dude i know it's like like once that once the induction ceremony is over like that team needs to be inputting these players on their website in the appropriate manner so that's neither here nor nor there we're here to talk jared allen class of twenty twenty five pro football hall of fame fur four time first team all pro two time nfl sack leader minnesota vikings ring of honor he had a twenty two sack season in two thousand eleven he holds two records most safeties of all time with four and most safeties in nfl season with two you can't not think about jared allen without thinking about his iconic calf rope sack celebration growing up on a ranch he implemented that in his sack sally he was always a crazy guy just an absolute monster i was digging and looking for jared allen cards and we're gonna continue to hit the finest super fracture of it all his twenty twelve finest super fracture sold raw in january of twenty for twelve hundred dollars the card ladder value on that right now is twenty five hundred dollars i always love this year it's just engulfed in gold swirls so jared allen you are the perfect player to have worn sixty nine and to help us usher in sixty nine episodes of the football card podcast yeah wow that's a bears legend jared allen played on chicago in twenty fourteen and twenty fifteen much past his prime but i do remember for a second thinking oh is jared allen the answer for this defensive line and i picked mark shlareth just had to shout out a legend broncos legend three time super bowl champion only a two time pro bowler never had the was never like the perennial all pro player that that we look at but just a memorable guy just with his influence in the media his acting he's been on lots of different tv he had a recurring role on guiding light and yeah shout out mark shlareth shout out shlareth when i think of just growing up and watching people talk about football he's he's a guy that's just was a staple there's dude i there's i i'm like there's a beeping that's like happening and i'm like is this in my office so i have no idea what it is so that's why i got up for a second but maybe people are like it's it's too hot in here right now it's it's six episode sixty nine let's open up the windows which it is very warm here in indianapolis for it being a big ugly autumn right now yeah i'm glad i escaped that it was like eighties when i was leaving on monday i was like what the heck ninety one yesterday it's like get out of here oh no that's too hot yeah and my i don't know if it's my wi fi but i've had some choppiness over the past ten fifteen minutes is that have you seen that no you've been good oh okay well shout out to listeners for letting us troubleshoot beeping in wi fi here on the footballcard pod should we get into some topics some questions yeah let's do it okay first up from birdbrain sports cards skill positions and even defensive players regularly get dedicated position themed insert sets but rarely do offensive linemen get the same treatment so in honor of big ugly autumn what would your concept or theme be for an o line exclusive insert set pancake party oh yep so the image is just your guy delivering a pancake and it's just it's gotta be like a very it's all about the photography on this and i think the copy has to be very strong on the card i want it to be shiny but yeah i like this idea it's like has this ever been done before i highly doubt it like this seems like this should be something that fidatic slash tops considers i mean i know maybe when people open up packs of tops chrome they're not like crossing their fingers for you know a a offensive lineman but i don't know i feel like collectors out there would have a desire for it so pancake party is kinda what i'm thinking i like that i like thinking of the card kind of being a die cut with like a stack of pancakes the ridges you know yes like as the background i think that could be a hit i went with trench warfare and it's a dual sided card kinda like the nineties like east west basketball insert where it's like jordan on one side kobe on the other side but you've got an offensive lineman on one side and then you flip it over and it's a defensive lineman like and they're like battling against each other trench warfare wow tops fanatics send the invoice make them and send us the damn invoice dude i i thought pancake party was a pretty good idea trench warfare is like i i i want it because i like it when i'm watching football games and like this happened this week actually which a horrible game for me but watching colts steelers they were like the commentary which was jj watt and jim nantz which is a good deal which i was like conflict of interest you've got jj calling his brother's games here but jj was like you know if if you're just like looking for something to watch in this game and it was just like so after a play but it was like so great which is the play before he must have just loved what he saw but he's like just go watch like came hayward and quintin nelson every play and it's like the next play i watched they were just like crushing each other at the line of scrimmage and it was like neither one of them were moving but it was like that is the that is the like that is the card that trench warfare could bring to life for me a hundred percent and if it could be designed where like it's an image of those two players engaged yes in battle and like at when you turn it over it feels like a continuation like the same image there's something there next up from cards and cardio what has fanatics not brought back in football cards that you would like to see i've talked about this before i haven't seen it since i fear we'll never see it again and that is etching on football cards i miss the etching the etching is just something from an aesthetics perspective it's different i appreciate it it makes me when i look at the card it makes me think a little differently about the card so i'm a big etching guy and i'm sad we might not see it again yeah that's a that's a good call i hadn't thought of that and that has me thinking about die cuts too have they been doing a lot like i'd i can't confidently say if they're die cuts or not it seems like that's something that would go because it's probably expensive to create all these die cuts but some of the like some of those nineties die cuts are so cool like and i'm specifically thinking about basketball sets of like the big men on court and the like what's the one where like the fusions where there's like all the little holes poked in like that's sick like bring back some of those and bring back game worn stuff where you specifically say what the game is from i just love that like i love the cards where you look on the back and it's like this is cut from this jersey and it was on this date in this game even if it's a shitty game i still like knowing i like the knowledge of it's it's it's possible because there is a it's actually at psa right now wrestling card podcast i there is a cena patch auto card that i purchased that on the back of the card it references that this came from the raw netflix debut so it's like they have the the and that's there's a when i unveil that card there's a lot of different reasons why i bought it and i'll share all that later but that that fact that they could specifically tell me where the the big towel relic came from was like that was like that was super compelling for me so it's it's possible it is possible we have the technology next up from zipp's cards mvps versus championships for a player's market what matters more and should it matter more it is just interesting to me that a player's market is so impacted on a championship compared to an mvp both are great don't get me wrong but i almost feel like mvp should matter more in a sport like football where it's such a team sport the championship is much more a collaborative effort in basketball there are five guys on the court playing both ways they objectively impact the game more than any player on an nfl roster in baseball mvps dictate a player's market more than championships due to the team nature of the sport just curious of your thoughts on where it lands with football cards also go cosmic shout out cosmic i had a few people in my dms thanking me for defending the ops from cosmic so you got the cosmic fans upset and here i was defending cosmic so yeah shout out cosmic shout out zip cards mvps versus championships brett what do you what's your take here so great question when i was thinking about it before i got to the part about baseball i was my number one thing that came to my mind as well like football is not baseball and i think like as i was trying to like think through this i think the mvp in football has turned into a quarterback award whether we like it or not like sure other players can win it but they don't quarterback number one measurement has always been winning no matter how miraculous their play is during the regular season and so i think if you think about that top tier next tier of money in football cards and where people put it it's like mvps are always paired with championships and i'm just thinking about like mahomes i'm thinking about manning i'm thinking about brady and so i just you like a guy like josh allen if josh allen just keeps winning mvps and never wins a championship i'm unsure that his market will ever reach the heights ten years down the road that manning or brady or mahomes have and so yeah i think it starts with the fact that like the mvp is a quarterback award and the differentiation is to hit that next gear because people like mvps but to hit that next gear you have to win a championship that's just how i'm looking at it yeah and i i don't necessarily agree that because he said it's interesting to me that a player's market is so impacted on a championship compared to an mvp and that mvp should matter more in football i do think mvps matter more in football i don't especially like emmitt smith barry sanders like emmitt smith has rings i don't think anyone looks at emmitt smith and is like oh he has more rings like barry barry was like the better or more electric running back i'm not even getting into better or not but i don't think rain the rings argument doesn't really come in unless it's a quarterback yes no one no one knocks randy moss for not winning any championships correct i don't think that that championship is like more valuable like i i don't think jerry rice is more collected than randy moss because jerry won rings i think it's because jerry was undoubtedly the greatest receiver ever has all the has all the like longevity numbers has these records that will never be broken yep along with championships the it is interesting to think about how across different sports it dictates but even that i was like wait what about griffey like griffey only won one m won one mvp which is the way he's collected you would think he's won more and then jeter has five rings and i think griffey's more collected than jeter so that i don't know there's just interesting like whatever way you wanna look at it you can like find an argument to support either side almost where if rings matter more than or if championships are collected more robert horry should be collected more than michael jordan but that isn't how it goes i think the more and more i think about this topic because this came up in another like this idea some somewhere a version of this idea came up on one of the other shows that we work on on the network and i i i i think and i don't know this to be true but i do a lot of examining like why things happen and i think ultimately collectors will wanna put long term money and they will put more money in players that they view their team success could not happen without that player at the helm and so i think like jalen hurts gets hurt in this argument because you know like they have they had such a excellent team with great running back great defense great line and people like they had seen nick foles do it and so it's like well could we have done it without jalen hurts and i'm not here to knock jalen hurts i think he's a better player than probably most most people give him credit for but it's like the same darnold too darnold thing too it's like could the seahawks have done it because their defense was so sick without darnold like maybe not but like there's still questions there but i think when you go back and you look at like the montanas the mannings the bradys the mahomes it's like there's their their team isn't even in the same hemisphere without those guys and like that to me is like that is where we go it's like if we can if if we feel that way about a certain player and those players win those are the players that collectors wanna dump their money into yeah a hundred percent i i think kinda gets to the purdy thing too that we're talking about like yep and it's that that is the the whole the bus driver talk are you like the people love the bus drivers of these teams and basketball especially it gets interesting like and when you like kd and steph like kd got the finals mvps those years but people like knock them for it and they knock steph for not winning finals mvps and yeah the finals mvp is but the warriors would never have won without steph curry right correct yeah so it's like that's why people love to buy steph curry cards it's like he's he is that franchise but then you get technical with the well he you know finals mvps shouldn't he have all of them like right these are the interesting conversations and dialogues that dialogue to have well and so alright to take it to football though because specifically like alright i'm thinking about what a comp could be where we could like find a specific example i bet two thousand two is a good example where and we'd have to just look into numbers but rich gannon wins mvp brad johnson wins the championship like who's more elected than rich gannon or brad johnson i don't know i would think rich gannon because to me i'm like the mvp of the league like he put up numbers he had a sick year brad johnson happened to be the quarterback for the bucks who one of the greatest defenses of all time like just had that going for them and kinda when we were talking about like like flaco versus marino or like just the mhmm marino was consistently like an mvp player in the league flacco had some amazing playoff runs won a super bowl but it helps to have ed reed and ray lewis too i mean that's the thing people right away will call out awesome defenses for any of those kinds of quarterbacks but yeah i'm ready for a non yeah the mvps just become quarterback i'm ready for a non quarterback mvp it hasn't happened since we're coming up on twenty years two thousand peterson or two twenty twelve peterson yeah he's a rookie in o eight twenty twelve peterson was the last non quarterback to win the award so we'll see if it ever happens it just seems like offensive player of the year goes to like not the quarterback and it's weird when it does go to the quarterback like the mvp like when drew brees used to win him i was like yeah you know just give brees the mvp yeah he should have won at least one of those mvps next up from ajm cards if you were a steelers fan what do you think of mike tomlin's playoff decline lining up when he first got into minecraft shout out ajm cards for bringing this up because i wanted to bring it up on a previous episode but i forgot the yeah and i i don't have any context for this so i'm i will just say like i want mike tomlin to be the indianapolis colts next coach and then i'll let you cook on the minecraft of it all so did you see the minecraft thing or i don't think so oh oh it's amazing so mike tomlin released this video on youtube and he's like here's something i've been working on for the past twelve years my son told me i should make a video about it so i'm letting him do this and it's mike tomlin taking us through the city he built in minecraft that he spent like twelve years on and it's insane and detailed and people are like woah he spent a ton of time on this like just the amount of hour like people who play minecraft it's like legos like you could just build cities and build there's more that goes into it i don't know i've i haven't played but watching mike tomlin go through a city made me wanna i was like should i build a minecraft city but then someone lined it up with like because he said twelve years and so they showed like tomlin's first few years in the league and like his record and then they showed like when he would have started minecraft and the playoff success and team success that happened once that happened and there's a drop off there's a clear like drop off when that happened and it is it is interesting because even watching him go through it he's clearly very passionate about that and anyone who's been a gamer or spent a lot of times playing video games knows that like no one stops playing video games when they're supposed to it's impossible you always do like one more game or or like one more level one more hour whatever add an hour yep just something so like i there had to have been times based on his minecraft output and passion that he wasn't thinking about the game plan on sunday because he was you know putting another speakeasy in one of his penthouse hotels so i don't know it's a great youtube watch it's a very like throwback to like early two thousands youtube he's just sitting in a chair being like so then i wanted to build a i wanted to build like a complex here so i built these three buildings influenced by visiting my son at college and like this one's the green one and then i put aquariums in all the rooms and he's just like i don't know it's it's great content shout out mike tomlin do you want him to be your head coach if he's still crafting dude i i yeah craft the way i i will i will say this so i don't i don't like to buy into these like internet narrative positions of like oh the steelers suck because mike tomlin introduced like this minecraft video on youtube or they didn't reach their full potential this is yeah that's the internet being the internet could it be true yeah but i don't i don't i would i would side on the other side especially based on the work i'm getting from mike tomlin on sunday night football which is some of the best on the field analysis that i that i can ever remember i do want him to be the next football coach for the indianapolis colts that's i can tell you that right now and we're in what time is we're in october what i can say is like it reminded me of you talking to that early in my career i walked into like the boss man's office and the boss man was like on the floor it's like and i thought he was like injured i was like are you alright and he's like i'm just stretching my back and i was like oh man like you've been on a run like traveling all around the globe this and that he's like gets up and like he's like it's been a doozy i just like was walking out of the office i can't remember what i needed but i remember turning around and this is part of me just always asking another question i was just like what what do you what do you do like to like relieve like the stress of this job and where we're at right now and it was like a question i could tell by the look on his face like he'd never gotten before and he's like brett you're not gonna believe this i play video games and i was like that's incredible but i imagine this like ultra successful chief marketing officer running this business from hypergrowth to publicly traded to acquisition like and he when he got done when he finally closed his laptop or got done with the international calls like he sat and got on the sticks and i was just like we all need these stress relievers no matter what position we're in like head coach or not so i'm i hear that story and i'm just like man i'm glad tomlin got like found something to help relieve stress because like dude if i'm thinking about cards all day and i'm working on content all day like i feel like ultimately like the quality of everything goes down and so we all need to find our things and so mike tomlin's thing just happens to be minecraft and i respect him for that a hundred percent but i'll read the splits real quick before we go so tomlin before minecraft seven seasons one super bowl win two super bowl trips five playoff wins sixty two winning percentage in the playoffs mike tomlin with minecraft twelve seasons zero super bowl wins zero super bowl trips three playoff wins three and nine in the playoffs so did anyone document the rosters that he had on each of those runs because i think that like let's talk about the defense early in his career like let's talk about that yeah and no there were great comments that's like him having to deal with antonio brown and le'veon bell like no wonder he's just needed there you go escape to go play minecraft alright a few more that i threw in late last night one is from b sanders coin collector cardhala that's what i call the time i spend admiring organizing cards i've slayed so just not a question just throwing that out there cardhala i like that next up from raw god o two one of ones from the nineties and two thousands are undervalued compared to the high print runs of modern runs i agree that makes me feel better that makes me feel better about my yeah purchase but like honestly when trying to like rationalize buying that card i just searched like superfractor and just was like looking at all sales of superfractors including like modern ones and i was like oh yeah this is easy like i'm actually getting a deal because there's just so many super factors being printed now of like players who haven't done anything where it's like like oh okay if someone's spending that much money on these like i can do it on my guy and the thing i'm looking at with on this topic right now personally with my own collection and buying and like saying to myself what do i really need is the fact that like when you've got like these parallels like super flack fractures or finites in the modern era it's like you've got like twenty twelve to twenty twenty five and think about like if you've got like players that have played a lot of those it's like how do you value and organize like the later year version of that versus the earlier version it's like do you need them all so i think like i think that's smart because i think looking at those specific years of like the the late nineties early two thousands it's like if you're looking at masterpieces or one of ones from different sets like i don't know i've become the i've been more fond and fond about like the limited years of certain things in production and they're being like why have this affection for the pylon is because there's there's only one and it's the one year so i think these are interesting things to think about but we've talked about like our observations of seeing collectors picking up some of these cards of these early years and i i think it's probably more right than wrong based on the price points yep alright and then from drake's pc what are parts of the hobby where you appreciate the friction conversely what are parts of the hobby where you wish the friction could be reduced i like the research i like with friction i like the challenges there learning about cards there's friction but i actually like really enjoy the process of piecing together pieces of evidence and like coming to conclusions and determinations we were talking before we hit record about a card that i was like considering and i looked at it i was like this is a cool card but it wasn't until like i got an hour and a half out in the evening and was like going through the process of digging in so i like love that like that keeps me energized that keeps me wanting invested in the hobby i think the part that i the the no friction my favorite part of the no friction which i was there earlier or yesterday went to fedex but i just i love just like putting cards in a box packaging them up putting a label on it just sending it out and watching other people photograph list the cards them sell the money i just hit a button and the money gets into my account or they push money into my account like i i hate all those steps and like i would hate the friction involved in all those steps that's why pay other people to do it for me yeah that that's i like that those are great answers i appreciate so i think negotiating just maybe because it's recent i like negotiating i like the friction of it i say that right now sometimes i know i've hated it or had bad experiences but the the priest negotiation was like oh yeah this is fun this is fun to like figure this out pacing around my office you would have thought i'm like a wall street trader brokering some massive acquisition if someone had you know could have seen me during that and it's like oh no he's just buying a sports trading card of a random player so i i do like the because i i call that friction like mhmm trying to come to a shared value with someone else who like both of you have completely different motives for what that number should be like mhmm seller wants number to be higher buyer wants number to be lower how do you guys come to a conclusion and where could friction be reduced i would love and i know there are platforms out there but trading i wish that trading was easier or like cash plus trade was easier because there was just again during this priest thing i'm like i feel like these cards are worth like could i just trade some of these into this deal like is there an easy platform i know there's like veriswap is out there and so i haven't used it but so i know it exists and maybe it is a great wonderful platform so shout out them but i feel like i like trading and or doing like partial trades and like i feel like that happens more in person at card shows obviously and so it's like if there was a way to digitize that where that could be like an all the time thing i think that that would be fun because then it's like oh if i could throw in these cards and then my price goes down my cash price goes down like why not yeah those are good ones the the trading thing i think about that a lot and i think that it's it's like as a as a collector it's about did and being able to accomplish this digitally which is this is work which there is friction to this but it's almost like you have to build a network of professional dealers who are setting up at shows regularly who have the type of cards that you desire and you build the relationship with them and they are willing to take on your cards that they view as inventory of cards that they can go sell for a margin at shows and that's how it works but yeah man like some of the people who have the most incredible collections like they always talk about trading it's like being good at trading is what has helped them get them there so i think about that a lot and that's a good one well yeah and it it has to happen in person otherwise like if there was like an app or whatever your cards would have to be in like a vault or in a third party thing which then means you don't have the cards in hand which isn't as fun i like having right in hand so there's there's friction there but well yeah okay great questions everybody nfl check-in what what three takeaways do we have anything to talk about i don't know what happened yeah last week i mean i mean if i wanna talk positive which this is when you know you're down bad is when the only positive thing you have to talk about is how great your kicker is that's he's a baller dude so spencer schrader for anyone not paying attention he's thirteen for thirteen from field goal he's five for five from fifty plus this year he is he's his longest is fifty eight dude like i i've like you watch kicker's kick and i'm i'm gonna probably jinx him after this episode but dude when he kicks the ball it rockets off of his it literally like rockets off of his foot and it's like watching tiger woods like drive the ball it's like perfect like right down and i'm like when is this going to stop like he's done it inside he's done it outside and at the beginning of the season which the irony here the the he got hurt last year at the tennessee game they played tennessee this week which is probably the the the what the colts need right now is to play an average opponent that or a bad opponent that they can beat and if they lose everyone will be fired but that's the state of where we're at but spencer schroeder i was at the game this guy hits a game winning field goal against the broncos last year then he gets hurt against tennessee out for the year the colts bring in blake groupy and groupy hit everything they were like non like theatric kicks but he was just kicking everything and so there was a kicking battle at the beginning of the season in training camp groupie or spencer schrader and everyone was like groupie's gonna win this because like he had all these kicks last year spencer schrader ends up beating him out and everyone's like really and dude he's been like literally adam venetarian is prime like kicking and then groupie just got picked up from the rams after that debacle so i'm glad he got landed on another team but yeah it's that's the state of where i'm at as a fan it's like the the best part of watching the games is watching watching the kicker go out and kick the ball reminds me of growing up and watching the colts when i was a little kid with dean biasuchi but that's where we're at with the current state of the franchise not with vanderjag gotta get a vanderjag mentioned no no vanderjag come on gotta sneak him in that's awesome to have a kicker who could kick further than fifty yards because kairos santos can't like his career long is like fifty one he can't kick there which then is what's the point of him on the team because if the bears are at like the thirty they're going for it so it's like it'd be nice to have a kicker if you're past like the forty yard line where it's like okay bring them on they can hit a fifty five fifty eight sixty yarder which people are just nailing sixty yarders all the time now every other kicker so it's crazy man like give me a kicker like that versus the guy that there's no point in kairos santos because the bears are just going for it if they're in his field goal range yeah that was devastating losing to the packers like that i was i will it's my fault too i blame it on me because i i was in new york last week landed got home at twelve thirty eastern like thirty minutes before kickoff on sunday like very tired little hungover just not in like a good state like i was like oh yeah the bear bears pack it's bears packers holy shit i gotta get myself ready for this game i and i feel like the bears came out exactly how i felt where they just looked terrible played like shit very humbling experience reminder that yeah the packers do own us at lambeau field but when's kayla back i need kayla back that's the main when when is he back is there any rumor in it as of right now it's trending towards this week he'll be late then then then the ass whooping that you just endured will feel a lot better when your franchise quarterback is under center it doesn't make that necessarily any better but like you at least that's hope for you as a fan a hundred percent it just reminded that the defense has a lot of issues and this team is you wanna talk defensive issues you wanna talk defensive issues aaron rodgers look like freaking twenty ten aaron rodgers against us it's like we suck i feel like we being so bad we talked about it on the episode where you were like this is a game where like historic like after the steelers looked like they were falling apart it was like historically this is the game where then rodgers is gonna go off and it's gonna be like oh yeah this is like sometimes they fight him and mccarthy but then they're they're great so and you wanna talk about losing you can't win in lambeau i don't know what it is for the bears we have not won in pittsburgh since two thousand and eight damn the bears did win in lambo caleb's rookie year okay but that was the first time in like years and years but jordan love i'm still not convinced jordan love's good he just is throwing it up it takes it's in the air forever like i hate his deep ball i hate it it's the moonshot and i'm like how does this not get intercepted and like every throw of that game that game was insane and it like it makes sense this team has had nine months to think about the bears beating them knocking them out of the playoffs the bears have been feeling themselves too much bears fans have been feeling themselves too much the packers look like a team that had been brewing on this for nine months and came out ready to kick ass and they did they they beat a backup quarterback and a backup running back so congratulations we'll see you christmas day that's gonna be crazy it's gonna be stressful christmas love the pack love the packers fans are getting into experience the the vocal nature of zaire franklin just give the guy a microphone and he'll say everything say anything beefing with luther it's good though it's fun rivalry on let's go just beat the falcons now i have a feeling bijan's gonna absolutely torch the bears though i'm very worried about that but i would be he's playing really good football alright collecting oh market watch yeah yeah through some sales let's hop in the card ladder we had a twenty twenty two prism patrick mahomes black shimmer one of one out of the first of the off the line boxes this thing sold for forty five thousand one hundred and forty dollars and i just thought man it's like you know it's like with a player like mahomes it's like the get scooped up and they're they sit then it's like the goals i know are very desirable but like i haven't really even thought about the black shimmers and i know there's the stars too but man to to see like to see a sale like this forty five thousand dollars for a one of one mahomes like not the top of the mountain parallel but it's a one of one in prism so big sale there yeah i was just thinking like when i saw the image first that that's pretty cool black shimmers are cool and like maybe there's an opportunity there and then seeing it was forty five grand that was way more than i had thought it would have sold for for twenty twenty two like kind of a mhmm random year but i mean very yeah good looking card and like to your point it's a when the finites are gone i'd rather have a shimmer than the stars so yeah makes makes sense that this is a desirable card that seems like a ton of money but what do i know i don't know any i don't know anything i'm spending a ton of money on preforms i feel like i saw this sale and there just appears to be this just massive demand for premium larry fitzgerald cards twenty eleven national treasures colossal materials signature nfl shield which looks like it comes from a pro bowl jersey based on the image at the top of the card in this card a shield is at a bgs ten so that's freaking wild twenty one thousand six hundred dollars for this card i'll just go off and assume that this is game used based on the price it doesn't say it on the front but i'll just assume but yeah that's a freaking we're there's been a lot we talked about the twenty nineteen finite for fitzgerald i think it was like at nineteen thousand like his he is entering that conversation of like non quarterback players historically that people are willing to spend a lot of money on yeah this card's weird though this looks like two different cards pitched together like is it because the autograph is on the top no just like the top fourth of it is like this action photo with like the full background and then the bottom three fourths of it is like the white like i don't know like it seems like it should all all be like an action photo shot it's the action photo looks like it's cut off i guess is what's bothering me sick card though i love equipment shields always a sucker for an equipment shield and yeah larry fitzgerald not only does he have like the longevity stats i feel like people will look back and see that but he has like the playoff moments yeah granted they didn't win the super bowl but he just has he's a wide receiver so he can get by without winning one right exactly yeah so alright we move over to a topical player we're entering the kaboom room with the twenty four absolute kaboom vertical green one of one of new houston texan boo marvin harrison junior he is linking up with his old college quarterback this thing sold for nine thousand six hundred or seven hundred and sixty dollars on golden i mean what's what what is what do you make of this card what do you make of marvis marvin harrison junior who was supposed to be like the most surefire wide receiver prospect we have seen i know there was a real camp of bears fans who the it was do you draft caleb and move on from justin fields or do you keep justin fields and draft marvin forever and i'm not even oh fields needed marvin which i'm very glad happy to be in the situation we're in now but i don't know like i don't i think this could be good for marvin harrison the houston move yeah where i it what we were talking about earlier where these high draft picks go to shitty situations and then they're expected to turn things around and like it's been anything but consistent for him in arizona and then maybe being in a shitty situation makes you play shittier or like care about it less like you're not putting in the work you need to be to elevate to get better and all those things so maybe being in houston where also currently looks like a shitty situation i still think they have a good team mhmm and that the chemistry with stroud is something so i'll be interested to watch if he can turn it around it is crazy to like he was so good in college he was like a jeremiah smith before jeremiah smith and for him to have been so unproductive in the nfl is something but as far as the card i mean if you're a gambling man and you are feeling like yeah you know what this could be a good move for marvin getting his green kaboom one of one rookie for under ten ten yeah was like alright i'm like i feel like goodbye for that person where five weeks from now he has like a good start in houston you could probably sell that for more money that what i what i was thinking is like the scenario that houston inevitably is always in where they play from behind lose the first several games and then they just like go on this win streak and it's like can you imagine the world where houston slips into the wild card like last team and it's because the chemistry is brought back between stroud and marvin harrison junior and marvin harrison junior is like a key part of that offense and it's like dude you take this card and you go put it up for auction and it's gonna sell for twenty thousand dollars and that's like that's like you know i that's why i think like the price point of this card based on what we've talked about and what we've learned about kabooms i just i think like you're it's a gamble right but it could be a really nice gamble if things work out yeah terrible scan though doesn't do the green kaboom justice those are good looking cards and that yeah come on golden alright we're going back to a commodity card in a way we've got a twenty twenty one rookie donris optic downtown of trevor lawrence this sold on fedex weekly for two thousand seven hundred and sixty dollars and i did look this is the all time high of this card and we talked about lawrence upfront and my question is are we in an era where measuring case hits in the market that these case hits have shows the like the real demand like is is that where we're at like is because this is an all time high because the jags are good and because lawrence is playing is like should we be turning to these case hits because there's several copies to really understand the market conditions behind them that's just the question i had as i saw the sale i think it's a definitely a good data point i mean for me like anytime i wanna see like a player's quote unquote value market like their silver prism psa ten is just like what i go to just because there's so many of them for most quarterbacks not talking twenty eighteen and they transact so much that you get a good sense of like what the like you can see like okay this is up fifty percent over the past six months but i feel like the downtowns are there's so many of them that they're also satisfying that same thing where it's like there's a trevor lawrence downtown probably selling every single day so you can track it in the in the same sense dude there is there is seven hundred and thirty of these graded by psa forty five by sgc and forty by beckett yeah good i didn't realize there were that many of them i thought maybe like maybe like three hundred of them i i just i this is a world i i don't care about and i i don't i'll never buy any of these cards that is that is a lot of irony and then there's like i could be wrong correct me if i'm wrong but there's like the donruss optic downtown yes that i believe the donruss downtown and then there's like other i don't know so it's like this isn't even the only downtown rookie type that he has there's like other ones out there so i don't know inventory it's all inventory inventory and we gotta close it out with bryce young twenty twenty six brand new product bowman bryce young bowman chrome super fracture one of one since they decided it was a good idea to put these nfl guys in a college product wow i didn't even realize this is a sticker auto too this thing sold for three grand man i thought this card was cool until i saw that it had a sticker on it i know if this didn't have the sticker auto i would love this card yeah the super factor is super factor in it's just good good photo good everything the the sticker on and his auto is not good or like no his auto sucks dude whatever i don't know what i'm looking at but wow three grand see bryce young the the bryce young hive is waking up the bryce young hive is waking up alright collecting updates current collecting projects you're focusing your resources on i shared mine and now i am in sell mode got some auctions running go check them out mainly twenty twenty three prism finite dj moore one of one psa ten that one hurt to sell but mhmm i have another it hurt so good it hurt i have another dj finite so i'm like alright i'm keeping one like that satisfies my need for that in the collection but that that's the first time i've like sold a big bears card in the pursuit of something else so that was tough so hopefully i see that end up in a new home somewhere and not the vortex but yeah what about you any any moves i've just been plotting in the background it's been my mo i've i've been i've been thinking a lot about just some opportunities and i'm i'm i'm i'm moving into a more slow methodical approach to buying i went from buy when it pops up for so long to rethinking everything and so yeah once i i'm i'm trying to figure it out i i will say this and through my evaluation one thing i've learned about my collecting my colt's prism collection was fun it was i had a great time building it when when i like break it all the way down to the studs the the number one thing that stands out to me about the whole thing is that like deep down in collecting cards the one thing that i really care about is andrew luck like i was like that's that's that is what i've learned through this process it's like that that is my guy so that has been fun and so yeah i've been just trying to do some you know resetting what do i wanna do and yeah well i'm sure you know in the coming weeks there'll probably be some sort of update but haven't been buying i've been plotting there we go it's fun i love this whole thing yes alright what strip it down to the studs but like keep in the studs and then like you get to build a new house on top of it exactly alright card call out i feel like i didn't even post it last week last week was weird i've been traveling too much and then i was in a bear's depression for twenty four hours so but last week was physical freaks this week episode sixty nine callouts nice cards nice players what about big like have we done big uglies like or have we done like i kinda like the trench the trench idea both sides of the world yeah let's let's bring trench warfare to life okay trench warfare offensive line defensive line what do you got you can post them separately but if you post if you have both together and you create your own trench warfare card you get thirty seven hundred extra points yeah if you have same set same year parallel like trent williams bosa or like you know whatever yeah twenty thousand points so i love that trench warfare offensive line defensive line pair them
