The Football Card Podcast #64: There Is No Such Thing as a “PC for Life” Card
hello and welcome to the football card podcast football card podcast this is it you made it it's friday and you're listening to the fastest growing podcast in the entire world that's centered on football cards and most importantly football cards i'm your host john aka pat nicholson and with me as always is mister stacking slabs himself brett how you doing and actually for any listeners who ever thought this was a prerecorded intro it's we do it on the fly every time and that that's live yeah it's live baby this is radio brett how you doing maybe we should do an entire episode where we just every statement we say is like in the form of a question football nerd podcast art podcasts i'm doing well man it is we're it's here as we record this there is a football game to be played tonight we talked a little about the pats and the seahawks excited to saddle up and watch that and then there'll be another game happening on thursday so it'll be two in the can by the time this goes out as i'm thinking about this and my intake on nfl media and all the talking heads is at an all time low i just i i'm i'm in a position right now where i don't have a ton of time for it and when i do have time for content i'm usually listening to card content but i've seen a few clips and obviously we've talked about like the the the media darling and the la rams and how they're gonna beat everyone and they're gonna win the super bowl and that's how that's preordained and i was thinking about this and i was just like man if i were a seahawks fan i'd be pissed off right now like look at us like we we're the defending super bowl champions and no one wants to talk about us so yeah i feel like the seahawks are gonna come out guns a blazing because there's been no one talking about the seahawks and they they just won the super bowl and they're really good yeah that the disrespect and then it come in within their own division too of just having to see the rams just get crowned already when the seahawks are defending champs i can't wait though yeah by this point if you're listening to this two games have happened and we're either gonna look really smart or stupid based on how this conversation goes i'm gonna i'm just gonna go out and say seahawks went in a blowout and what's the second game rams niners niners niners with no aaron donald no aaron donald and the niners have been in melbourne all week they've been acclimated to the time change and the rams i think are flying like right now so niners boom i'm i'm you know what we're gonna be probably both stupid but i've been i've been feeling the niners all week i just i hate overhyped stuff so i'm anti rams go this whole season i'm just anti rams i've had enough already and the season hasn't even started yeah that's they've become the villains they've become the the evil empire so it's up to caleb williams to stop them it feels very much like lebron going to the miami heat especially with miles garrett going in and now you've got aaron donald getting off his couch he's not playing this week but and you've got all this narrative about stafford and all the pieces and how mcvay is the one coach who can keep it all together for an entire season he's the one guy and you've got kliff kingsbury redemption story he won't meddle in what mcvay does he'll only enhance what he does and so it's just all of the tropes over and over again i've just had enough so i'm i'm gonna look probably pretty stupid but i'm glad you're alongside me we'll just just go forty niners so there you go forty niners fans yep yeah let's i i'm it i'm not sold that aaron donald's gonna come back and just be like a world beater like if you've been retired for a while maybe a little rusty he's a little older like i don't know is this gonna tarnish his legacy it might how these are probably gonna be the iciest cold takes of all time but someone's gotta play the other side i'm tired of everyone falling in line and saying the same thing and if you want something different to be said tune in to the football card podcast if you wanna pick someone different go to your pick'em how many guy how many guys and gals do we got in this league well yeah and pick'em registration is now closed if you listen to this so so either you are part of the most exclusive pick'em group in the world or you missed out i'm sorry about you but as of recording we're at one zero five we crossed the one hundred member mark that was the goal so shout out the loyal listeners of the football card pod for joining and being part of the pick'em league so one out of one hundred and five of you is gonna end up right here sitting in these hallowed chairs on the football card pod as a guest of honor after you win and you'll get a trophy so good luck to you all i'm very excited to see how this shakes out and to see that leaderboard start to take shape i'll make a bold prediction i think the winner is gonna be a rams fan and he's gonna he's gonna be circling around having a parade on here after the rams win the super bowl saying hey you remember in episode sixty four when you pick the niners over the rams well we just won the super bowl again so let's talk about it so be prepared for that john that's what we're we're dealing with here bring it on bring it on episode sixty four sixty four straight shout out us shout out the loyal listeners for tuning in every week the more i think about it i'm always impressed with the fact that people take time like they choose to spend their time listening to the football card pod because just a couple guys who don't know anything talking about football so i'm honored every time can i do an early shout out and we will load up the vault of points and we'll distribute mhmm triple the points this week oh maybe four times the points but if you take a picture listening to the football card podcast getting ready to watch football maybe getting some snacks involved showing us your setup showing us at the stadium if you bring the football card podcast to an nfl stadium you're you're you're you will be a part of the end of the year ceremony where we award we we induct our first football card podcast hall of fame you you will i don't know if you'll be a part of it but we'll mention you during that ceremony yeah you you can be an owner of the football card pod if you do do that quad points are you kidding me yeah you can you're part of the board if you do that so shout out everyone listening to the football card pod it it's an honor to be here talking to you all episode sixty four got an opening topic though that i think is funny that i wanna get into or just interesting there was a video that made the rounds in hobby social media last week from p c underscore sports cards which was called the one that got away and in it this guy kinda tells the story of or here's the caption zach originally sold his nineteen ninety eight skybox e x two thousand one randy moss essential credentials future rookie number to six to a buyer for their pc at the time it seemed like a solid deal but looking back zach is definitely wishing he held on to the card longer the card had just recently resold for a hundred and forty four thousand dollars the i guess what was interesting is the point of the video is zach is kind of venting how he let the card go because the buyer was saying it was for their pc this is a pc forever card is the is the quote he uses here pc forever and it ended he had then that new buyer ended up selling it a couple years later and it has then i think changed hands a few times since then this card has kind of popped around over the last year and the point of his video he's kinda at the end saying like screw the guy that i sold it to like he only got it because i he said it was pc only i thought it was going to his pc for life and he shouldn't have ever been able to sell it i thought that was just a little crazy to me i don't know like if you sell a card like you sell a card it's gone it's not yours to then complain about if then the next owner does something that you don't like with it if they sell they could sell it the next minute and like cool that's that's their decision i guess part like the the unknown is like just how much the like pc for life card was played during the negotiation if this buyer was like you know but even if they said like made the most outlandish promises of like i will never ever ever trade or sell this card like you can't blame a person if then some sort of life thing comes up where they need to just sell this piece of cardboard to help their family help their life their business whatever it is so i don't know i just saw that video i saw it getting like shared around in some group chats i saw lots of comments it sparked some debate in the comments so i just wanted to throw that out there and see what you thought about this video if you if it landed on your radar and if you had any thoughts brett i'll start with what a cool card let's let's talk about the card we talked about it last week just an incredible one of randy moss's finest pieces so i'll say that i'll also say i don't know zach i know josh at pc sports cards we've done content and conversations over the history of stacking slabs awesome guy really appreciate his passion for cards there are two things that run through my mind i when i first saw it i thought it was like a spoof i was like where's where's the where's the hook like and it just wasn't i was like damn like that's serious so the two things that i'm thinking about as i've rewatched this is number one and i'm not a a huge fan of this band but there are plenty of people that are a huge fan of this band and that's oasis they had a song don't look back in anger so that that is that is one point that i'll make is don't look back in anger move on move forward especially if you profited off of the sale of the card especially if you profited again i'm like what what is the intention here are you just airing out all your grievances like what do you want from this so don't look back in anger and then the second thing is stone cold steve austin he said it every monday night during the height of the attitude era three letters dta don't trust anybody especially in the hobby if someone's saying pc card for life pc card for life pc card for life like you can't you can't like take anybody at face value on something like that especially when there's so much money involved in like you can't predict what's happening financially with that person you can't predict what's going to happen with the market and so i i i i never i personally never choose to use those kind of words when i'm trying to get out a card but when someone does it to me i don't believe anything they're saying and it's okay it's like i'm not like that person's a liar i'm just like i don't believe you so all in all like i don't i i struggled with like what's the intent what do you what is your intention here are you just doing this because you've you've had enough and you're pissed off that you left money on the table are you looking for sympathy what what are you looking for so not something i probably would do i don't think it was the best look but that's just me i was scanning through comments it was interesting to read all the comments and commentary we've all been frustrated in this hobby like we get frustrated when we sell cards to someone and then they get put on ebay for like five or six times what what we sold them for and then we question it it's like did we miss something here but i don't know it's like you just got there's too many cards like you just gotta move on like once you sell it don't look back in the rearview mirror don't look back in anger don't trust anyone yeah and like you you should never be this is for anyone like be don't give discounts for anyone if they say it's like for their pc or like you just i don't know like like if the if he gave a discount because this person was saying pc only like that's a that's a mistake but you just can't can't be doing that like this is there's this is business you know go you get your money you can't yeah throw out a discount just because someone's telling you pc because yeah don't trust anybody dta another thing i bet if anyone looks back on a deal they made two years ago they sold it too cheap or they sold it too low the market is up leaps and bounds especially players like randy moss and some football cards in the past two years three years so like you anyone looking back at a card they sold three years ago could probably have this similar story of oh i traded away a card or i sold a card and now it's worth three times more but that's not the person's fault for buying it from you or for that's your fault for selling like just point blank so i don't know i i guess i thought the overall like thread i was trying to pull from bringing it up as a topic was just the leveraging the like this is for pc for life tactic if you will in negotiating and like when to use it when not to use it when to believe it when not to believe it and i think you nailed it with how you said it and also just thinking about like we've all been there before where the second you actually get a card it loses a little luster or like the chase is over it like alright you got the card now what now it's now it's here and your eyes start wandering elsewhere so like i just feel like it is totally natural in this digitized age of the hobby where you get a card that you really truly think is pc for life and two years later you're like it's not hitting the same anymore like i've had it for two years that like that seems to be kind of a pretty you know good shelf life in collections in in the way that people turn over cards in this day and age so i don't know if if i sold a card to someone and they're like this is awesome this is my pc for life card i would a not give them a discount for that i'd just be like okay cool like i'm glad that this is ending up with you and that you're very happy and you're gonna cherish this card for a long time and then if i saw they sold it six months later i'd be like i guess something came up or like they saw a new card or like you know whatever no hard feelings we so i i don't believe anything is pc for life with anybody i just don't i believe i'm selling my color finite at some point like i it just will like my daughter doesn't want that like my family doesn't want that that's gonna have to go sometime there's different eras there's different seasons so i don't believe in pc for life at all i think it's a fallacy i also like going back to the the like being upset about making money like the other question i have is like when that card was sold originally and you got all that cash like what'd you do with the money like did like did it did you buy cards now that have grown in value you know did you put it into your house like you know the the the that money was used probably for a good reason or good purpose hopefully so yeah i just it's an interesting conversation i think what i find is that and i'm dude i'm just going through this man like having you know two hundred or so colts gold prism gold vinyl and just reaching a point where it's like you know what like i really love the black finites and i just wanna focus on that and all this other stuff i i i don't care about like having a a twenty nineteen rookie gold prism anymore i just don't like so i'm gonna sell all this stuff and it's i but like going into this year i was like i'm never going to sell this stuff i'm trying to build this out and whatever and then you just reach a point where it's like other stuff interests you and you move on collecting is very seasonal very seasonal interest change i always view it as an evolution so yeah that's kinda my perspective but yeah i hope whoever owns the owns the car new and you just said something in your last bit there that triggered in my brain as i was gonna close it out but i've talked about this in content before the hobby as a whole spends way too much time worrying about what other people are doing if someone buys a card and then two months later sells the card on another platform it's okay they have things going on in their life or they bought a new card and they need the money that's that people spend all of this time chastising people for selling cards even if they haven't they've had them for a short amount of time and i think it just makes the people doing it look stupid i really do because it's like how upset are you about what's going on in your world that you're spending time getting upset about someone else making a decision to sell a card that they just bought and most times the individual loses money on the card and they know they're gonna lose money but we don't know the reasons why and there's always reasons so yeah i just had to air that out a little bit that pisses me off more than anything it's like the people think they're so clever and cool posting about oh shaming this person didn't this car just get bought and you're selling it it's like you're the one who looks like an idiot here and even thinking about this even more of like okay so this transaction happened three years ago where this guy and he says he sold it for sixty thousand dollars and now it this card sold for a hundred and forty four thousand so it's up eighty four thousand dollars so that's over a hundred percent like that's a big gain but like with that sixty thousand dollars three years ago which was kind of like the bottom of this like little half pipe we have going from like the covid spike to where we're at now i if you put sixty thousand dollars into anything like i'm looking at the cl fifty index is up a hundred and fifteen percent in the last two years so not even tracking a year before that like he's if he went back and looked at like what he spent that sixty thousand on i bet it's worth close to one forty four if not more than one forty four and if not it's like that's your fault for buying trey lance or whoever like whatever isn't up this much in the last three years like everything is really up in the last three years so like yeah i just i don't understand the point of getting that mad about you know a deal where you made money and yeah like especially from a card like store like that's that's life that is this game that is what the hobby is you're gonna buy and sell cards sometimes you win big and sometimes you lose big and like can't even call this a loss you made money so what are we what are we doing here what are we doing you know what we're doing we're marching along in big ugly autumn which is a great time sixty four episodes big ugly autumn it's still hot it's too hot to be big ugly autumn ninety degrees again today here in central indiana we've had some some fall days and the the mornings are getting crisp i i have a feeling that it's gonna all once these games kick off it's really gonna turn to fall and it's gonna start it's it's here we made it like there is a football game there is an nfl regular season football game tonight there'll be two by the time you're listening to this we did it episode sixty four what do you say let's get into it i have a question yeah this every year this heat exists at the very beginning how stinky and smelly during the first week or week two are the were the gloves of like jonathan ogden or orlando pace like in a ninety degree heat like blocking guys running down the field how stinky were their gloves probably so stinky like march march shlareth i can never say that name i can't just can't do it big ugly's always piss their pants just off field that's just part of it not taking a bathroom break in the middle of a game like that so yeah those are some stinky boys some stinky hands stinky gloves if peeing your pants is cool you can consider me miles davis yeah wow some ogden gloves stinky ogden gloves that's a put that in a card i'm sure people would smell them sixty four we got a few hall of famers dave wilcox randall mcdaniel jerry kramer and joe delamayo i don't know how to say that that's a tough one yeah i clearly can't read or speak on this episode big ugly autumn it's getting to me but jerry kramer is who i wanted to talk about real quick even though they were a green bay packer for his entire career from nineteen fifty eight to nineteen sixty eight jerry kramer was a guard and a kicker but the main thing that jumped out so he's hall of famer two time super bowl champion super bowl one and two five time first team all pro two time second team all pro three time pro bowler sixties all decade team nfl fiftieth anniversary all time team green bay packers hall of fame pro football hall of fame great guard in the nfl but his this injury history that he has is insane so the original accident that then this like lingered with him throughout his entire career was in the summer of nineteen fifty three so let me see he was born in thirty six so fifty three he's seventeen years old and sorry i lost my place okay in the summer of fifty three he was chasing a calf on his family farm half stepped on a board shattering it and shooting a lance shaped splinter of wood into kramer's abdomen after piercing his abdomen the splinter partially exited kramer's back between two vertebrae doctors cut the piece in two and pulled it out front and back two weeks later kramer was at a preseason football practice for his high school for his senior year that's insane taking a a board a splinter through the back and then go into practice two weeks later that's that's that's pretty country strong right there yeah to play football and so then like throughout his career he had multiple surgeries where they were like pulling wood wood fragments out of his body like he had a wood fragment removal surgery in may of sixty five that's after like he's been in the nfl but then as a freshman in college he backed into a lathe in shop class and incurred muscle damage to a hip and then he was later in a car accident and then one time while hunting kramer's shotgun exploded which significantly injured his right forearm he suffered broken bones torn muscles and nerve damage which required plastic surgery and skin grafts some of the lead shot also penetrated his liver and then this last sentence threw me off said to this day kramer cannot use the little finger on his right hand and i said to this day this man is still alive and sure enough jerry kramer is still alive ninety years old and during all of that like and none of those were nfl injuries those were just freak accident injuries that happened to him throughout his life as a as a country football player so shout out jerry kramer i at first did not wanna i was like oh packer i don't wanna talk about this guy but when i read that injury history i'm like okay jerry kramer needs a shout out on the football card pod what a legend a football life jerry kramer injury history wow what i mean this guy might live forever yeah tuck everlasting truly i mean he's from okay he was born in jordan montana i'm wondering where tuck everlasting takes place i feel like it's out in the it might be montana somewhere yeah but how about that a shotgun exploding in your hand like after all those other injuries you're out hunting and you're like alright i just gotta be real careful and not have my friend shoot me or like whatever and then it's your own gun that just explodes in your hand how easy was football for him after all that he must have just been like this is these guys are gonna die i'm just gonna crush all these people yeah i literally have a two by four in my spleen like this is nothing you're trying to block me or try and get past me this is nothing you know when they use the word the coaches the coach speak they use the word yeah they get asked a question about a player on their team they're like oh what about heroic performance and you know willing his team to to that last touchdown and the coach is just like yeah he's a he's just a football guy i mean no one's a football guy until they pass the jerry kramer approval test yeah if that happened to any of these players today like a shack like a cow shattering a piece of wood that goes through your body like you're out for you're that's probably a career ender jerry kramer dusted it off and was back at two a days two weeks later you know i i have gone this whole time and i haven't even gotten a visual of this man and i i'm doing it right now i got let's see a jerry kramer card i i gotta pull up a jerry kramer oh god that guy looks like he is just not messing around so shoulda had this set up in advance but we're doing it on the fly so we got a nineteen fifty nine topps jerry kramer guard packers this guy i mean he i can't believe of all that i've learned from him and i'm looking at this card just such a stunner but yeah his highest selling card of all time is the fifty nine tops in twenty seventeen a let's see picture's not loading but a psa ten which is a pop four sold for eleven thousand damn eight hundred and eight dollars so if you wanna make some money because all the mickey mouse people and or batman people are just listening to podcasts and buying like go find yourself a jerry kramer like go retire so that means we've given the narrative yeah psa ten eleven thousand eight hundred in twenty seventeen cl value of ninety k right now oh baby maybe that's sick to the who else is talking about jerry kramer in twenty twenty six besides us and he's got oh he's got some he's signing cards jerry kramer let's and so he was finally inducted into the hall of fame he was let's see before his election into the hall of fame at age eighty two so it's just eight years ago in twenty eighteen kramer was noted for being a finalist for the hall of fame ten times without being voted in in o eight he was rated number one in the nfl network's top ten list of players not in the hall kramer was inducted into the hall of fame on august fourth two thousand eighteen at his induction speech he quoted something his high school coach had often told him you can if you will so what a legend shout out to like i might have to buy a jerry kramer card that's what talk about talk about adversity i mean jeez he's on like the shortlist for you know hall of fame ballot after hall of fame ballot you've you'd hope somebody finally just like in in the like voting meeting just like stood up on a table and just was like hey for everyone who hasn't been voting for jerry kramer let me tell you about his injury history i'm hoping that pushed him over the edge god yeah what a legend shout out jerry kramer show us a jerry kramer card if you have one out there i know some vintage football card guys have to have a jerry kramer card out there would love to see that this is going to be impossible to top but i'm gonna pick another hall of famer randall mcdaniel i picked him because he is someone i have not thought about in years but when i was opening up packs of football cards as a kid i feel like every other card was a randall mcdaniel minnesota viking nineteen eighty eight to nineteen ninety nine he had another stop but we we don't care about that he was a seven time first team all pro two time second team all pro a member of the nfl's a hundredth anniversary team good little story here during mcdaniel's rookie year in a game against the green bay packers at lambeau field mcdaniel stood too close to the sideline butane heaters to stay warm in the freezing cold he accidentally melted the rubber soles of his shoes his equipment manager was not surprised at all he had actually placed a side bet that mcdaniel would manage to set his own cleats on fire and had backup shoes ready to go that's just knowing your players it's what equipment managers should be doing throughout the shout out randall mcdaniel for getting a a prism finite in the final year of prism this baby sold at the beginning of august august first raw for six hundred dollars this is a look at this guy man look at his arms like how are you how are you if you're a running back and you're running behind randall mcdaniel you're you're probably getting an extra yard or two wow just being marked as the kind of guy who's gonna set his cleats on fire that's there's something about that just like hey this guy is gonna melt his shoes i need to bring an extra pair and then he actually melts his shoes that's incredible oh the the irony of it too it's just like i just i i just usually these guy i wanna the picture on this card i feel like is him at lambo with no sleeves on or anything but just like no soles in the bottom of his shoes what a name too randall mcdaniel it's so good yeah i swear he was in like every like pro set yep action packed pack like i was just i i should've i probably had a binder full of random mcdaniel cards great one alright episode sixty four big ugly autumn marches on with a couple other yeah mcdaniel and kramer this is this is good i'm excited to see even more big uglies as this autumn unfolds but for now let's get into some questions shall we let's do it alright first up from saks sports cards how would you describe the basics of developing a collector thesis in cards to someone who knows sports but is just getting into the hobby my feedback is trials and tribulations you gotta get into the muck and the mire because it's not always about the players and teams you like sets and products matter i always say on stacking slabs is like find your collecting north star but it it's really rare that it like happens in the first shot or happens overnight i think it takes time you have to buy cards you gotta sell cards you just gotta be in it like there's really no fast pass to it so there's so many cards it's a sea of cards and it just you takes you gotta experience it so that's kinda where i'm at with this one yeah that's definitely part of it i also think there's like a quest because the way i was thinking about this is the like giving advice to someone like he says who knows sports but is just getting into the hobby because i i have friends who are like diehard sports fans and like probably collected as kids and are curious like they i hang out with them they see cards in my house i'm talking about cards any chance i can get so like they're curious but i guess like a foundational part that for anyone who's like card curious or a sports fan it's like you have to want the cards like full stop you have to want the cards like if because i feel like i've talked to people and they'll say they could say something like like so what do you do with them like what do you do with the cards like once you get once you have them what do you do with them you know i feel like there's like that is sometimes a question that can get caught up and it's like well you just have them you just you possess them you put them you put them in your it's like do you look at them all the time it's like yeah not all the time like i'll take them out every now and then but like you know i'm busy so i i can't be looking them out at them all the time so like what do you do with them and it's it is weird that they're part of the enjoyment of this whole hobby is just like the knowledge that i own some of these cards it's the it's the satisfaction that i get and it's like i can have i cannot take my box of cards out for weeks and i'm still enjoying my collection just as much as i mean when i go through it that that's a different level but like part of this whole hobby experience is like the hunt the tracking things down the research you find something you buy it and then the knowledge that you are the one that owns this one card or this grouping of cards so like at at the core if you're thinking about getting into cards but that question is lingering over you of like what do i what am i gonna do with them it might not be for you or like you might not want to go down the card route because i think if that if you can't understand the answer to that question or why just like possessing a card or or collectible is enjoyable then you're probably gonna like be seeking other fulfillment out of this hobby of like trying to like flip cards or like pure it purely becomes more of a monetary pursuit rather than like a a collecting journey so that that's one tidbit i had from this whole thing and then as far as can i can i step in on that because i think that's you've said a lot of really good things there one of the things that was circulating in my brain that really got me excited and i on my docket today a little peek behind the curtain at stacking slabs that i i organized the flagship episode almost an entire week in advance of when it goes publishing when it goes to publish and this topic really like struck a chord with me as you were doing through that talking through that dynamic of what are you gonna do with them i think one of the most underrated topics that i've never like gone ham on this and i might just do it for next week so here's a preview i think there is something about the honor and prestige of ownership of these cards that is really important and is really powerful and it's like we don't need to do anything with them but we are the owners and we think these cards are prestigious and we feel like empowered by owning these cards and like that's really powerful and that drives a lot of different decisions so if someone asked me well what do you do with these cards i was like i don't need to do anything like i'm the owner and i i feel honored to be the owner so that's just one small aside i wanted to add on top of that yeah it's just you don't have to do anything with them like you're the owner like i i get to be the owner of this and and that's that like it just sits tucked away i just look at my collection on card ladder that's all i do that's what you do with it you look for more that's what you do with them you you do put that one away and you try and find the next one another part that like as far as advice or collector thesis i guess like my i i don't know if this is a thesis but i always come back to this word projects like i feel like i have a lot of collecting projects and like early on it was like runs like i was like alright i found out about you know i wanted to collect ladanian tomlinson black refractors were a thing in tops chrome i'm like can i get the black refractor run of ladanian tomlinson that was like an early project same thing with priest holmes like can i do that and through that exercise it's kinda like okay that that project is six cards that black refractor run now i'm doing safe searches now i'm like hunting for things now i'm like you start to like learn what it takes to wait for cards and to also like track them down and then eventually i i didn't honestly even finish that run i got to like five out of six of lt i think it was his o five i just like it wasn't popping up and eventually i was like i'm gonna just sell these and roll into something else but like at any given time there's always all sorts of projects and some projects can be five cards that you can probably do pretty quickly and some might be just an ongoing thing that takes years and years but i think if you're like looking for that north star i think like finding those like personal player connections or team connections like okay i like this team i like this player you kinda see what's out there of that player okay i'm gonna try and get their whatever run just silver prism run or their tops chrome whatever run like just you can kinda like focus it in and like it doesn't have to be like such an overwhelming like what where do i go where do i start it's like find that connection and then like give yourself kinda some parameters of like what that project could be that year yeah and it doesn't always have to be like a run of like years it it could be i like this insert set from this basketball thing i think this optic whatever or like fearless or i don't know one of these inserts test is cool i'm gonna try and get all fifteen boom there's a project go do it alright next up from dobbs card guy when stumbling across a new page on instagram what impresses you more curation or value first of all shout out dobbs card guy got a chance to meet dobbs card guy in at fanatics fest so always good to meet the loyal more interested in like what you said i'd never seen a signature before he has an awesome signature there's incredible patch cards here there's just incredible cards that makes me wanna know like alright do these exist these have to exist for some of the players that i know i collect because i'm recognizing certain years and sets this is just awesome yeah yeah so if you wanna have fun like i'm as this whole time i'm still scrolling and they're all just tim brown cards this is this is one of the best curated collector pages i have ever seen i hope raider collector underscore nineteen is in the pick'em league because i would love for him to win and him come on the podcast and we can just talk about his collection the entire time i know for a fact that he is because i saw i saw that name in the pick'em league so shout out raider collector when i saw so you're gonna actually need to pull up instagram again because when i saw you put that in there because yes i agree it's like curation gets me pumped and like i mean valuable cards are cool i love seeing valuable cards but like and when there's curated valuable cards that's awesome but like that is what i'm looking for so i i was like who have i followed recently that's like that and if can you search dj thirty one collector there we go oh wow david johnson the i'm follow immediately immediate follow just an insane david johnson collector from the running back from the cardinals has everything just the coolest one of wands yes awesome patches he's got a gameborn david johnson jersey there's autos golds i mean gloves keep scrolling it's just the same thing it's just scrolling and i love that in his bio he said always buying selling trading for dj stuff just like the tim brown collector said always buying tb stuff it's like when you can just call your guy the initials and just throw that in bio and just like what are you about i'm always buying tb stuff i'm always buying dj stuff there's there's nothing better this is a the the best bang for your buck in the whole prism catalog it's twenty fifteen prism purple mosaic out of fifty you can get these cards for nothing yeah absolutely stunning he goes love so it's the twenty fifteen purple mosaic david johnson rookie he goes love finding a pc steel this is jersey numbered and graded nine point five all for the cost of a burger king combo hell yeah that's what it's about dude we we should do more like collector audits like this because this is this is awesome this is so and i love it like david johnson has come and gone he had his moment but the collecting never stops you know it's so good so give those collectors a follow we love seeing curation in the feeds so yeah tag us and post whatever we'll we'll start doing more of this shout out more and shout out for the people watching the video you got to see the whole scrolls just a reason to join the patreon so you can watch it on video alright next up and shout out dobbs card guy great question and another just legendary player collector curator from hall of fame cigs would you rather get the pc card of your dreams free for life or your team goes undefeated and wins the super bowl this is the easiest question that i've had undefeated and win the super bowl there's no question that's the peak of my existence yeah if that happens there's nothing there's outside of maybe attending my daughter's eventual weddings and walking them down the aisle there's nothing i could ask for more than than this and i the cards it's like whatever like yeah you're telling me i get a whole year where i gotta watch my team win every game and win the super bowl like i'm gonna live in that moment for the rest of my life the build up to that how good that would feel for twenty one twenty two weeks of just bliss of like it it feel we it feels so good when your team wins like on sunday like the the next week is amazing and if you're on a two game win streak it starts compounding and like the bears had like a five game win streak last year and i was on cloud nine it was like the best it was amazing and if that happened every week straight and then like the pressure and expectations as the playoffs come around like that's why no one's ever done it it's mhmm so so hard to do that so a hundred percent give me the undefeated super bowl because then like like the pc card of my dream like i don't even know what the pc card of my dreams freeze you own it you've got the jay cutler fine well no then it would become just that team i would just be buy every card i'd be buying of that team would be the card of my dreams i'd be because i'd look at it and be like remember when the bears went twenty you know like in one of the super bowl that's amazing alright next up we got a twofer from andy buy buy baby cards first is he fired some shots so buy buy baby card says who cares about autographs not a question period who cares about autographs i i get autos from dead ghost baseball players or something but this obsession with people needing craving the player signing the fucking card is baffling to me sorry for cursing he didn't edit it so i didn't either but i know we have kids that listen to pod apologies players signing the effing card is baffling to me so andy coming in with like basically poo pooing autographs from modern players he understands maybe vintage ghost baseball players i think autographs are cool i don't i don't i don't this seems like it's rooted in some specific instance of like someone maybe a grown man groveling over trying to get an autograph from like a a player like at a training camp situ like you know you see those videos where it's like mhmm autograph guys like kind of elbowing kids out of the way so that they can get their things signed and they have ten things that they are trying to get signed because they're reselling i understand that like i i understand not liking that or being anti that type of autograph collector but as far as like i don't know scrolling through both those feeds and seeing cool tim brown autograph cards or david johnson autograph cards i have no problem with trying to collect those those are sick the the autograph is very very desirable from a collector perspective more than i even realize as a not so much autograph collector but whenever i have an autograph and it's i sell the autograph i feel like it always performs well so like there is this deep thought and perspective that is embedded in collector's minds that everything with an autograph is always better i think i like autographs in a couple different scenarios i like autographs in like that old dead guy perspective like singing andre the giant autograph is just like will always blow me away like singing jackie robinson autograph up close and personal is like really cool it's like those circumstances are cool i also think like an autograph is welcomed by me when it is a piece of like a bigger picture where you've got like a premium brand you've got like game used autograph you've got like scarce card and then like you got an autograph on it it's just like a component of this bigger card but i i i don't understand and i'll side with andy here i don't understand paying premiums on autographs of guys that sign all the time or guys that are like rookies or second year guys who are gonna sign a million more times there's a lot of surplus when it comes to those like peyton manning autographs like i don't really value them at all it's like he signs everything so joe montana signs everything like tom brady now signs everything like these are the three of the best football players of all time who sign so much so it's like whenever i see their autographs it it really does nothing for me but yeah the the the hobby is infatuated by autographs there's no denying that yeah i mean it's kinda one of the oldest parts of like collecting like people have been collecting autographs forever mhmm it's like the i met a person okay prove it sign sign this piece of paper please like that's it is a currency that honestly was collected before cards so autographs have a claim to make as one of the earliest collectibles even though i still stand firm that rocks were the first ever collectible you just get cool shiny rocks and that's precious gemstones like it all it's that's literally what it's all based on so people want the shiniest rocks alright and then a second part from andy says is there any fun in collecting if you have an unlimited budget part of what makes collecting special is the chase the restraint and having to decide what matters enough to pursue when everything is attainable i wonder if anything can still feel truly special i is there any fun in if you have an unlimited budget i think i could have a lot of fun collecting with an unlimited budget i would have no problem spending a ton of money on collectibles because part of it is like the cards still need to surface even if i had unlimited funds it doesn't just mean i could instantly have every card i want there would still be you know the pursuit and the hunt would be there i agree though on the like it doesn't sound as like it obviously it sounds fun to have hypothetical unlimited money but the like if something goes up for auction knowing that i can just win every auction like yeah does that start to get boring where like you're not at all like you never get anything for a deal if you're just like bidding max bid a billion dollars and you're always gonna win like there is a part of this whole thing it it is fun to do your research and like know know your valuation or your price of something when you go into an auction and then you you get it for that and it feels like a win and like that all the things came together for you to be able to pull off and you had to do a little consolidation to get it like all of that is rewarding in itself so like if you you didn't have to do any of that i can understand what he's saying here how that would feel you know you'd feel a little void of something but yeah i'd have no problem spending unlimited money if i had it on cards i would like a free trial of unlimited money like i would like i just give me like seven days free trial with all the money in the world that i can spend on just cards and i'll andy i'll tell you how i'm feeling after that but in all seriousness i think to take the maybe level headed approach to this question i think that there is something very special about understanding your financial circumstances and understanding emotion understanding interest understanding what attention is understanding patience and restraint this is why i love the hobby because it tests these things because i don't have unlimited money like and i love this ability i always view like myself as a gm or a ceo where you gotta make decisions constantly and it's all based on money so i think that after my unlimited money free trial ran out there'd probably be some pieces that i would be excited to go back to and i it's the management of everything and so i think i might say that if you had unlimited money there'd probably be a lot that you miss out on and that could just be me but as i'm trying to like really think deeply about saying no to unlimited money that's kind of my my my take yeah we need salary caps in collecting is what we're saying get the doc no dodgers out here that would be that would be fun if everyone had the same budget and you're kinda having to navigate you know like and it expired at the end of the year like how how would that work as like a social experiment omaha productions put it on netflix yeah well football card podcast will costar and bring on whoever else is gonna lose because we'll be the winners at the end of it yep alright and last up from drake's pc do you agree with this statement if you aren't selling a card you own at current prices then you are essentially saying you'd buy the card again at its current price if you wouldn't buy it again at the current price but don't sell it what might influence that decision this was one i had to read several times to make sure i just had it in my head right and i think i know i don't agree with it and i think it sounds logical because both decisions involve choosing the card over cash value mhmm but i think buying and holding are not the same decision because when you buy a card you're giving up cash and you're taking on like this new position and when you hold a card you're deciding whether the benefits of selling outweigh the benefits of continuing to own something you already chose researched and acquired so like that's how i broke it down yeah i just i don't agree with this at all if i bought a card for a hundred dollars and it's now worth a thousand dollars and i choose not to sell it i'm not putting another thousand dollars into this card i'm i'm still a hundred dollars into that card no matter what happens and then it if it drops back down to five hundred i didn't lose five hundred dollars i guess in theory maybe i missed out on potential five hundred dollars potential top gains but i don't i just can't think don't look back can't think of it can't just yeah one other thing i should have brought this up in opening topics i forgot i wanted to write it down our our clip last week from the episode of the twenty seventeen prism gold vinyl and forty thousand dollars for patrick mahomes so good or the twenty twenty five topscrum superfractor one zero one you know we did a would you rather thinking it was kind of a a tough decision which i still think it is a tough decision but the rookie card loyalists flooded the comments people weren't having it i think every single there's forty comments on this thing every single person is talking about it's not even close it's the rookie card it's the rookie card it's not even close and i don't know i if that made me want the super factor even more yeah so so we had fifteen thousand people view this reel we had those comments people just there was a point of contention with me saying that this was a difficult decision people are like how is this difficult and all these rookie card truthers and i gotta be honest it makes me want the super factor more than ever it's like if this many people are that into rookie cards like give me the the one copy of one card all day every day like it whenever i hear all people going one direction i always wanna go in the other direction especially for me as i'm looking at the cards looking at the subjects looking at the pictures looking at the print run considering all the factors i'm like you know what that like tops chrome patrick mahomes with his tongue out a little bit first topps chrome card ever kinda looks a little bit better after i read all the comment section uh-huh i yeah i'm i'm on the superfractic train now i think you were you we we didn't respond really to anyone but you did and you were just like because this one has four more copies or something yeah i said the only reply i said was gold violin has four copies too many which is yep that's logic from crossover chris hoag josh johnson they that i stole that line from them co opted that line from them but i kept thinking about chris and josh the entire time because it was it was so rookie card rookie card rookie card and there was hardly there was nobody to stand up for the superfractor and i was like i i know that there are people i've heard other people talk about one of ones like dude like i i just dude i just literally wanna spend all my money on one of ones one of ones after that i'm like if everyone's going rookie card like there's gotta be value in one of ones at some level yeah i'm still just amazed by like the like i guess like vitriol that was this post caused because like people would oh man someone even oh no i did reply to one other person who said who even knows where it is they were like something about like these guys must be new collectors i just reply yeah it's not even close you must be new collectors lol and i just replied with the roll the rolling eye emoji but like come on people were like legit mad that it was even a question and and i don't know there are superfractor fans out there but they were absolutely i i i think i said this to you in text but it's the response of this reminded me a lot of like and i will just i will generally say and i will not involve it at all but i'm i i try to stay away even though i was a political science major in college i try to stay as far away from politics as possible but like i observe and analyze because that's what i do for a living and oftentimes i hear that i don't care what side you're on but everyone is so adamant that like this is what we're doing this is because of my party and i'm like well what has your party done for you and that's what i thought about with these rookie cards it's like what have rookie cards done for you it's like you are just buying into this longest existing narrative in the history of sports cards and saying nothing else matters but the rookie cards i'm like what is this nineteen ninety two it's like really are we stuck in ninety two like is that what's going on here but like i was shocked by the response just stunned i'm like well i guess people don't care about the rarest and scariest cards that exist because there's no one standing up for them yeah the rookie card can't hear you bro the rookie rookie card's not gonna f you bro like come on now like what are what are we doing here yeah oh boy the campaigning for rookie cards just got out of control it felt like some lobbyist we got some pack money into the rookie card campaign we got just people going nuts i'm like this the midterm election's not even here we're not you don't have a you don't have a rookie card candidate versus a one of one candidate we're not even there yet but it felt like that yeah i might maybe i'll throw that back on the story with a poll and that way people in you know the privacy of the voting booth can express their i think it might be you know if we're looking at this and it's like forty comments are all for rookie card zero for superfractor i don't think there'd be no superfractor votes if we put it to the story i think you know this got a little what mom mentality thing going where very much mom mentality these these rookie super fanboys got a little too emboldened in the comments section and let's set up a free and fair election we we will we will monitor we will be at the polling locations monitoring making sure no activity is is happening and we will not create stories about activity that's not happening but you think is happening we're just gonna put it up there you all vote and we'll just see the the disparity between rookie and one of one i think that's a great idea yep alright good topics everybody and shout out everyone even even the rookie fans for engaging with the football card pod on instagram we appreciate any and all engagement so absolutely moving on to nfl check-in we made it there's football i can't believe it this is insane pick them league is about to the pick them league is going as of listening to this we're here football is here it is here i just wanna knock on wood because take one moment to talk about my team going into week one this is the healthiest i can ever remember in indianapolis colts team going into week one i think we've got aj halsey who's got the best nickname ever rookie safety mister gimme that he is questionable but outside of that everyone is good to go so let's hope that lasts for more than a week but that's making me smile right now healthy guys fresh air player introductions being at home fireworks maybe some nachos at halftime all the things hopefully a win too the roof open that's a great question i haven't even got there yet jim's jim ursay's tweets rip his tweets making the decision in the morning on game day you just be glued to the twitter and he'd say roof open roof closed that that was the best that is the best i can't wait to see what happens i've gone from like i'm very optimistic i think the bears are good which is i just understand the trap and just they could lose week one and then the wheels start falling off i've also seen that story before but overall i'm just very happy to go into a season rooting for a team that i think is good because the past few years there were seasons where i was looking up mock drafts in october like i was like alright bear season's over by week three there were several seasons in a row of just like why why are we even why do i do this why am i watching this team why do i put any emotional effort investment into this stuff so to be able to watch a full season hopefully with just like a team that contends just give me ten wins that's all i wanted this year just another just build another just stay consistent stay a contender it's all i ask for so i'm ready go into carolina beat up bryce young week one they can do it it's important final note here and we'll move on to cards it is important crazy stuff happens every year week one teams that shouldn't win and might win their only game or couple games yeah week one is not a place to overreact don't get too down in the dumps if your team loses if your team wins don't get too high it's a long season yeah and then like injuries man they're just they're lurking they're waiting injuries are unfortunately turned on in this game and they're gonna happen and it's gonna be brutal and like that's all it takes to derail everything so everyone's lb right now can enjoy it because my quarterback tore his achilles does that give me like at least one free pass for like a significant injury or does does the foot the football gods not care at all oh they don't care at all thank you alright market watch presented by cardliner market watch presented by cardliner we're gonna do a special we're entering the nfl season version of this this week and what i did is i decided to look at the mvp odds and pick five cards of the top five mvp most likely to win mvp and just cards from last week that sold i picked one so let's see what we're doing does that sound good yeah we're entering the kaboom room we've got a twenty eighteen kaboom rookie josh allen gold ten copies of the b g s nine sold at auction for seventy two thousand dollars so you've got premium insert the gold parallel you've got the some would say best quarterback in the league or one of the best players rookie card you've got all of these elements in this card and it just sold what do you make of it i love this card's sick by the way what a photo what a everything with it being twenty eighteen seventy two thousand dollars is a ton of money nine copies too many is that is that what we're saying here on this one i think i mean i think it's a great card i don't know about the price i guess like what what did the last one sold for i think i saw somewhere that this card raw sold for like a hundred and eighty dollars in like twenty nineteen which is holy cow crazy what it come up for if it was the same owner this whole time but also just shows how far this card market has come and josh allen's market i guess but i don't know josh allen this is i'm telling you that you think people will never turn on josh allen if he if they don't take that next step if he if they don't has he been to an afc championship they went to an afc championship right okay if if the bills don't make it to the super bowl people are gonna i bet people are gonna start turning on josh allen just wait we'll see yeah we'll see it's josh allen always one of the more compelling storylines each year so i enjoy watching him play football this is a cool card we move over oh by the way i need to go back i didn't do this josh allen plus five fifty the front runner for mvp this year we move over to he is there's a second second place there's two two players with the same odds and this is this this gentleman has won a couple mvps and he's headed to my city to play my team which is never fun but we have the lamar jackson one of one it says super fracture but these are foil fractures of twenty six flagship football with the nineteen ninety one tops look to it so i think these cards are cool this is a sick lamar jackson card it's just the image is really strong love the throwback this sold for six thousand one hundred dollars lamar jackson is plus one thousand to win his third mvp wins a third mvp it really puts him in rare air so what do you think of lamar what do you think of this sale so this is i think a super factor though right is it a soup but they're paper based cards are these like chromium cards in the paper based pack yeah because it's got the topps chrome logo on it okay i stand corrected yep but no because i was looking into this because a luther burden popped up which i was very interested in buying considering buying but but i was like wait why does this say topps chrome on it and it's not a rookie card because luther burton was a rookie in twenty twenty five and i was like twenty twenty six topps chrome isn't out what's going on here and so like within topps flagship there's let's see if i look up chrome there's this nineteen ninety one topps football chrome list with all these different parallels and then there's rookies that say super fracture rookie autographs then i guess there's foil fractors this may this makes me wish i would have been on the jonathan taylor that went and then now it's relisted so i might have to buy that just like the true chrome top scrub super fracture i didn't realize i should've just looked at the chrome i just thought they were foil fractures silly me so so i don't know what's going on here necessarily but it's one zero one sixty one hundred for lamar i don't know how that feel lamar's prices have always been seemingly very undervalued compared to mahomes and allen and i know he can get into the whole super bowls and like playoff success and all that but two time mvp selling for like he sells for fractions of josh allen and mahomes i understand mahomes but the the allen and lamar them both being the same twenty eighteen class there's just interesting parallels there to always kinda look at i feel like lamar's rookie finite sold for under six figures within the last couple years which seems like a a good buy based on what everything else is doing so back to the afc championship of it all i was just doing this research in real time so lamar's been to one in twenty twenty four lost seventeen to ten to the chiefs josh allen's been to two and his years are i just lost it yeah they're both they're both chiefs losses to the chiefs yeah twilves is the roadblock yeah twenty twenty lost to the chiefs in the afc championship and then twenty twenty one lost in the divisional round to the chiefs that was the overtime game the thirteen seconds game and then they lost in the divisional to the bengals in twenty twenty two they lost in the divisional round to the chiefs in twenty twenty three and they lost to the chiefs in afc championship in twenty twenty four and then they lost losing to the broncos last year yeah like come on not a good look broncos are very very very very good defense bo nix was playing great towards the end of that season thank you but it just felt like the experience of lamar jackson and the baltimore ravens should have carried them to win that game yeah and now sean mcdermott's gone you got i don't know i just i can the tides will turn eventually they come they they come for everyone eventually they build you up to tear you down they do and we're going to another plus a thousand so on the same pace as lamar we've got the standard which i haven't we haven't ever talked about these but i just felt compelling compelled to talk about it we got twenty twenty n t joe burrow n t r p a bgs nine autograph ten thirty one thousand two hundred ninety nine copies of this that's what they're going for joe burrow ninety eight too many that's crazy and like from not getting worn not anything worn just not from any specific event is is tough these just look so classic from the like twenty twenty yes era like this yes layout of this card like i can see this so clearly this and the other like the herbert is like burned into my mind it's just like those staple cards but it's still thirty one k for that that's that's higher i guess than i thought it would be burrow's another one that like if the bengals and it's crazy only one team can ever win the super bowl you know like so there are thirty thirty one guys who are gonna be disappoint like if the it doesn't happen this year with the bengals and burrow it seems like clock's gonna start tip ticking there or people are the the pressure is just gonna start building if it's if not now when i've heard a lot of bengals like going far season awards all this i've got nothing but love for joe burrow i think he he could be argued as win healthy the best player in the nfl could be argued but their defense stinks until i'm proven that their defense can be competent then i can't even consider the bengals to be a winner so it doesn't matter how great your quarterback or receiver are when your defense stinks as bad as the bengals' defenses stunk so and he's just keeps getting banged up it's like the he seems too like his personality could pull i could see him pull andrew luck yeah where he's like yep like if he the bengals start you know two and five and he's just getting beat up out there it's like alright well i'm done here this is like same old thing is happening again yeah bengals fans are just like there is like steam coming out of their ears with just the thought of that but you know what as someone who lived the andrew luck of it all it's possible so so so hope he stands upright this year was there any like smoke before the luck thing like was there ever like no no it was no i didn't think so you could see his demeanor like you could see frustration in his interviews like as much frustration as andrew luck can show but it was a total shock yeah total stunner but he set the precedent that it's possible now yeah especially i mean burrow is like burrow's got a lot going on in it he seems like a very interesting guy a lot going on in his life a lot of interest a lot of stuff and it's like you just reach this point where you're just like i'm tired of getting crushed and not playing so i'm out just be their careers right now i'm like pulling up pro football reference side by side if it would load so luck played eighty six games burrow's at seventy seven their passing yards i mean lux ahead touchdowns lux ahead because he's got how many seasons has burrow played to lux seventy seven games to eighty six games so okay i don't know what the seasons are but i it's close i think this might be like lux last year like after this season they'll have played if burrow were to retire after this year he'd be same as luck and it would be shocking to everyone you know yes it would be yeah because he feels like there's so much more left in his tank which he's an unbelievable quarterback and it would suck to see that but it's it reaches a point where you're just like man you you gotta do whatever you can to make sure this guy i mean his watching joe burrow play quarterback is a very special thing i love it i think he's so intelligent he makes these throws he's got this demeanor but it's like luck it's like how are you not investing in making sure he stands upright more like tom brady dude his whole run with the pats statue man just stand there forever and just gun it he that's why he played forever is because front office is invested in that line because they knew what the team was capable of with a healthy tom brady standing just fresh in the pocket mhmm yeah they saw him get hurt and they're like we can't let that happen again even though when they got hurt matt castle still went eleven and five i think went yeah they missed the playoffs i don't think it's ever happened before yeah alright we move over to you mentioned him before plus eleven hundred lot of people we're we're we're back to the chargers chargers chargers hobby hobby hobby herbert herbert herbert twenty twenty contenders cracked ice the variation with the team helmet in a psa ten auto ten twenty five thousand eight hundred dollars man this industry this hobby has never grown tired of just throwing boatloads of money out on justin herbert cards and i'll caveat justin herbert is an amazing talent he is he can make throws no one else can make but i just i can't escape the the playoff performances i just can't they've been just stinkers like throwing the ball to the other team losing games so maybe he can prove me wrong but until he does that i couldn't possibly justify this kind of cash with this kind of player o for three in the playoffs two touchdowns in those three games four interceptions fifty four completion percentage where during the regular season he has a sixty six percent completion percentage and has crazy numbers in the regular season that five thousand yard passing season his second year yeah this this card is sick though oh yeah ten ten on card cracked ice like i twenty twenty man great year great year but yeah to your point people love just spending a ton of money on herbert maybe this is the year that he finally does something in the playoffs we close out with number five on the list at plus twelve hundred twenty twenty four drake may got his flashback rookie gold prism twenty fourteen flashback at a psa eight selling for three thousand four hundred and seventy two dollars maybe it's because i hate the patriots but man patriots i just can't see doing what they did last year you're playing some actual teams this year starting it off where you ended last year i think drake may is a fun he's a fun player he's a very likable guy they're very lucky to have him in new england but i wouldn't be betting on drake may to win mvp but i could be proven wrong certainly i don't have all the answers yeah i'm very interested to watch how their season unfolds with the variable stink still maybe lingering and just like what you know does that have an effect on a locker room or not is always funny to see unfold and yeah it's just like any team how with hype and expectations like not every team can start strong so like how a team can bounce back from like if again if the patriots started one and three one and four you know how a team can react to that type of adversity if you will so they'll be fun to watch if you had if you had a decision amongst these five guys to pick the mvp and saying it'll be one of these guys who are you picking i think josh allen i think lamar i'm just i don't know if he was just so banged up last year and i just like it's you know hit the running is starting to go away and i he's a terrific passer but i just like if his his game's changing so i just don't know if he's gonna be mvp to morgan and again like i say all this and then it can probably be a hundred percent wrong but i don't know i guess like the injuries of lamar and burrow make me a little nervous and then herbert i just can't see it being herbert or may like i know josh allen's the the favorite and like he's already done it once but he just seems like the safest bet out of the five so that's a boring answer but i'm sticking all good i'll i'll make it a little spicy i'm gonna go even though i spent the whole time talking about him standing upright i'm gonna go joe burrow i'm gonna say the defense still stinks they're gonna give up a ton of points but the bengals will win a lot of games in high scoring affairs because of joe burrow so you're getting a lot of thirty four to thirty five games bengals on top burrow is healthy all year puts up a lot of points puts up a lot of stats all good all good joe burrow feels like he should have an mvp by now so i'll go with joe burrow yeah that's a good good pick i like that one alright collecting updates what are the current collecting projects that you're focusing your resources on anything on your end nothing my i got a psa order back but nothing outside of that nice i did it i finished the two thousand two finest refractor jersey run i needed a needed that pervert brett favre and i one popped up for twenty bucks i've binned it instantly and so i that arrived yesterday i need to take a picture of them all because it looks sick like i love when there's like a group of something so have all twelve of those i now just need five of the regular veterans to finish the refractor run of two thousand two finest tom brady still being the the one lingering out there that has gonna be one day one day we'll get that but was happy to get the farv because there was one sitting on ebay like fifty bucks obo that every couple weeks i'd go in and like offer twenty thirty up to like forty bucks and this guy said no and so when one just pops up for twenty dollars buy it now like it just feels so good to to have waited out months and months and months to save twenty dollars is basically what happened but that's what we do this for gotta love it card call out last week we asked to see teams your favorite team players this week we need to spice up the card call out we we might have to have an internal discussion of how to spice this up like what do people wanna see maybe we do even like a poll to like bring in suggestions for card call outs because we're running into this where i don't i'm out of ideas the idea tank gets loaded how about how about we take a play on last week and we have the card callout are it is you have to post two cards one card has to be a rookie of the player and the other car another card has to be a one of one now it doesn't maybe let's talk about this in real time like i just wanna kinda get to the i want you and i at the end of this to to kinda decide like who wins out based on all of what we have seen so you can eat you either post okay there we go you either post a rookie card of a player or one of one of the player yes there we go bonus points if you do both but or are we trying to get like this to work as kind of a poll to see like what we get more of well we're probably gonna get more rookies than one of ones right for sure i think so dealer's choice whatever you wanna post if you wanna post a rookie card of a player post that if you wanna post a one on one rookies are one on ones if you post both you get bonus points and your your vote is null and void because you canceled yourself out and we'll also throw a pull up on the instagram to let the your voice truly be heard in ballot form and and you really win if you have a picture of your hands with buffalo chicken dip all over it holding
