The Football Card Podcast #46: Your Kaiju, Your Cards, Your Rules

hello and welcome to the football card podcast this is it you made it it's friday and you are listening to the fastest growing podcast in the entire world that's centered on football cards and most importantly football cards i'm your host john aka pac nicholson and with me as always is brett mister stacking slabs himself brett how are you doing i'm well outside of the boogers there's just i feel like my nose is a sieve right now the allergies are in full gear but we do not let some boogers interrupt an episode like this so i have a lot on my mind and i'm ready to do this yeah i can't episode forty six we can't let a little little allergy season get us down we've we've trucked through worse i feel like i've had a couple down episodes and some travel mixed in there but forty six weeks in a row that that might be the most consistent thing i've ever done in my entire life if i really think about it yes it is very exciting that we're able to deliver this each and every week i wanna just shout out the mute button in advance on this episode the tickles are in the throat and all that but you know i felt like there was something that was on my mind regarding it all it actually started with your player your guy the iceman caleb williams i was doom scrolling tiktok and just you know how we get into that flow and i was mhmm hitting the stretch of card show content and i hit this this reel or tiktok whatever you wanna call it of a guy at a show showing off his caleb cards and he had i think the super fracture out of chrome mhmm and then he also had the kaiju one of one and i was like man they these kaijus they're new people like them they've got all the recipe for what the hobby loves case hit of it all and so i thought to myself you know what i've seen people talking about this but what what what is a kaiju what what does this mean and so i did what we do i went to google and learned that the kaiju is a strange beast or strange creature commonly defining the genre of giant monster movies these creatures are characterized by their massive size immense power and roles as forces of natures or allegories for destruction immediately my mind went to godzilla then immediately i went to my apple music looking at the godzilla nineteen ninety eight soundtrack because it was such an instrumental part of growing up and i realized maybe it's the p ditty of it all but you you know i i can't access all the tracks which is so strange they have like certain tracks blocked out and i was just like this sucks like i just wanted to hear some jimmy page i was like you just wanna hear come with me all that no one ever wants to listen to is come with me there there also is the the wallflowers had a joint on there called heroes which leads off the soundtrack yes the bowie cover yes yes yeah yes which was also solved but i i just wanna hear come with me and i i couldn't do that so that sucked but that's neither here nor there this is what i wanna talk about i scan the checklist tom brady mahomes jalen hurts burrow caleb jaden josh allen cam ward travis hunter jackson dart i'm sorry but none of these guys are strange beasts to me or strange creatures and so there's a disconnect to the brand which i i understand why they have these players quarterbacks they sell more marketability but not not my kaiju and so then i went into step further and i said well who is my kaiju like who is that kaiju when i'm thinking about the nfl and one player came to my mind with a bullet and i as i'm thinking about this i can't think of another player that's more kaiju than this player but my kaiju and i i i'm gonna i'm gonna kick it back to you and ask who your kaiju is but my kaiju is max crosby and wow i i did submit an analysis on crosby okay so crosby has sixty nine and a half sacks across the hundred and ten games so i was like what's a comparable comp i just thought like dwight freeney what dwight freeney do dwight freeney had a hundred and twenty five and a half sacks in two hundred and eighteen games so max crosby is on pace if he played out what dwight freeney did in terms of games he would hit a hundred and thirty nine sacks which would best dwight freeney i know you can't just take longevity for granted but this again like i know there were medicals here but the fact that this guy what happened to him in the offseason and now he's back on the raiders like i hope this guy just kicks everyone's ass because he's one of the best players in the league he is the godzilla my godzilla my kaiju and so yeah man i i just i just got in this rabbit hole and i felt like this would be a good topic to just start the damn show off with i love that i do think those kaijus look cool i wish the caleb one in particular on there is a a bear holding a hotdog and i was like you couldn't give me you couldn't get past that first initial brainstorm like i'm sure that first brainstorm had bear hot dog yeah let's do it skip it like ah if you maybe there could have been a little more subtle other subtle nod nods to chicago culture but i do think they look cool i'm glad you said max crosby in my mind i was i went straight to miles garrett so okay similar player profile like a defensive end makes sense an edge rusher like they are referred to as the freaks the monsters the you know that totally aligned with where you landed on what type of player should be featured on a kaiju unfortunately i don't think those guys move the needle as much as the qbs but yeah that and that godzilla soundtrack i mean i had that on cd come with me one of my favorite songs and then there's a great jamarokwai song on there yes deeper underground which this yeah that album is is peak i'm i'm beginning to understand probably why that song is not accessible you just think of the title of the song in kaiju and think of p diddy and it's just not appropriate yeah what else there's a rage against the machine song ben folds foo fighters green day this so this album's not on spotify it's brain stew right like a remix or something brain stew the godzilla remix god i don't think i ever got past come with me so i have never heard some of these songs i think i just kept running back come with me and that was i feel like the first ballad i had ever heard because it was like six minutes mhmm it's like the longest song at that point of my life wow one question back to you before we get off the topic do you think kaiju round two will be the same type of checklist or are we going to expand and it's going to be probably a checklist three times the size which will include the likes of players like myles garrett and max crosby i bet it expands because i feel like it's has been well received within the hobby and they'll probably follow the kaboom blueprint i mean already are there like well they wouldn't do gold out of ten i know there's a super factor but is it just a base version and then a super factor do they have other parallels i bet they'll expand the parallel offering for that insert is my guess yeah it's funny i've already you know and i'm a fan i watch i watch everything i listen to everything in this space because i'm curious and the positioning around the kaijus is all we it's already this is the first year like it's your kaiju it's your first year so it's definitely it's already started yeah i'm looking right now highest selling was a brady psa ten for twenty three thousand dollars not the superfractor not the superfractor wow what's the pop on it it's sold on april twenty first so that's by the time this airs like three weeks ago and the listing says pop one so three weeks ago as i'm looking now that pop has increased to four so that sounds about right we'll see in another week or two how many more of these start trickling through but that's that's the battle with a new release i feel like i'm dealing with it in my chrome curiosity experience where there's stuff popping up but i'm like i just know if i wait two months it'll go it'll get cheaper like these first sales in the history of releases those first sales are always up here and then they just trickle downwards but sometimes i'm impatient the the tom brady like kaiju and superfractor do do do we do we look past the fact that tom brady no longer plays football when we're thinking about these cards because of tom brady's involvement in this product is i mean we're this is i mean i know you know with jordan in the post playing days upper deck stuff like he's still signed but and he was obviously like their premier athlete but i don't remember jordan like really being involved after he played i could be totally wrong but like how what do you think the perception is regarding brady's cards like in a set like this you know years removed from him putting on a buccaneer's helmet yeah i think it's odd just because when you rattled off that checklist i believe brady's the only retired player from that lot i'm sure part of it is because tom brady owns twelve hobby shops and it's well and he is the biggest name in football and like you know i get all of that but it does that is a great call out of he's retired for a few years and he's still one of the hero names on this new insert checklist that they're trying to push as far as jordan i feel like jordan though had the similar treatment especially post bulls pre wizards like because he came back i don't know just in my in my memory it was like still jordan was still this presence yep all the way through like no one i mean i i guess like kobe and shaq kind of because i was trying to think of what happened in the nba after jordan retired it's like yeah the spurs and then the lakers three peat and that mhmm i do think kobe and shaq kinda became the forefront of nba but i don't know jordan was always there and and it's like when will brett favre retired and came back retired like he was still kind of in the zeitgeist but as far as releases i don't remember what exactly was going on with jordan but i feel like he had so many of those like jordan only releases and like yep looking back like i don't know he like i feel like jordan was still everywhere like we haven't i hope we don't get like a tom brady set if we get a tom brady set that's officially we've gone too far tom brady cosmic chrome edition yeah just do you have enough brady in your life here's some more alright good good stuff good opening for episode forty six season four episode ten number forty six we're we're going we're closing in on fifty then we're closing in on a year and then got nothing to look forward to until we run out of numbers yeah i don't know what we're gonna do when we get to a hundred think gimmicks just gimmicks i was thinking in this offseason we might need some gimmicks and one idea was gonna float and we'll tease it here and maybe we revisit it in another episode but we do like a a draft where we each fill a five player team which is like a quarterback a receiver running back a defensive back and a defensive lineman or we we can figure out what the five are but kind of five different positions and then we do a a draft like a snake draft with like let's say disney characters where we're each drafting our five and we can have our pick for who we want at quarterback and why who would be a good receiver and why doesn't have to be disney characters but something you know some sort of scope that we give ourselves and it could be musicians it could be you know movie characters beyond disney i don't know i just feel like we could come up with some some fun thought exercises on a front like that it kinda in line with our musician player comp i i had fun doing that so something else in that nature well mickey's gotta be qb one right no she's not mickey's like four foot he's not seeing over his line you need someone standing tall in the pocket oh well the the i think you've gotta take it not a better leader in the disney in disney than mickey mouse he is he he is the straw that stirs the drink what what position's mickey playing is he not playing i'm not drafting mickey i'd take mickey at quarterback those skinny arms those have you seen fantasia he does pull off some some moves in fantasia but see this is why we're gonna have to do the episode you can draft mick mickey one one that's fine with me your team will suck but i like it i'm i'm excited for this bit let's let's put it on let's parking lot it and just surprise the listeners in a future episode yeah we'll we'll get that going i've been all of this to say i've been watching disney movies with my my daughter which is i've spent a lot of time analyzing you know the the free agent market out there i'm scouting all these characters and i mean i'm taking i can't even think of his name right now who's the bad guy in beauty and the beast oh gaston gaston gaston at qb now he's a quarterback type i bet he's six five i bet he's got an arm he might be a little hot headed and yeah he's the jeff george of disney quarterbacks he's gonna be too all about himself i'll tell you this about it was thinking he was ryan leaf okay say say one and the same but get gaston funny you bring him up so beating the beast is a favorite in the household and i have this gimmick with my kids where i just praise gaston as we're watching this i'm just like he is such a cool guy and my oldest daughter is like dad are you nuts i'm like look at this guy he's so strong he's got his own song and he's got all these people following him and so i decided that on disney plus you've got the profiles and you can change the pictures one day they you know return it on the tv and get to the profile screen and i had changed the dad profile to a picture of gaston and my my my kids were just like not having it it's still there so i got nothing but love for gaston he's just not my quarterback that's great but the crowds love him he'd sell tickets he's good looking guy good looking guy like he came he's a side of the building kind of player yes like you try selling tickets with mickey come on you imagine like going out like you're on a family trip and you're like through atlanta in the new stadium and you just like on the side you've got bijan robinson and then you've just got like gast gaston on the side they really they really are going all in on this i'm googling gaston height how tall is he they're saying he's six foot alright he's he's more he's he's bigger than that come on he's definitely bigger than that come on oh there's whole websites about different height of disney characters this is they're saying moana's seven six what moana's not seven six this is where ai is just not able to get us what we need they're saying he's tall she is taller than james p sullivan wow sullivan great he's a dude he if if we're drafted left tackles yeah okay we're this is good jafar six three jafar at qb that that now we're now we're i feel like aladdin would be a great receiver too oh on the carpet yeah or a free safety aladdin how have they not made this video game i don't know this is yeah this goes into a whole world a buddy and i explored once where we did a a fantasy draft this was in like middle school of just like any character ever like pop culture character like okay and built teams and would have convos like this so i'm i'm ready we'll we'll get this going on a future episode this was good workshopping i think this is gonna be a good bit once we get it down but for now episode forty six wouldn't be possible without our wonderful sponsors and friends at cardladder the only ones shout out cardladder by the way i opened up this tells you my workflow i like probably the second app i opened this morning was cardladder and it was telling me that there was an update so i went and updated it and it looks like we've got some new features i didn't have a chance to dig into what those updates are but i would imagine mister cardboard chronicles is crunching out some code and doing some work so always updating the app for all of you the collectors so go use cardladder dang i'm gonna have to go and check mine i'm a honestly i'm more of a desktop cardladder guy yep and it's the update was on your desktop no it was on my mobile app when i opened the mobile app but i i do both it is one of those rare instances where i am i am on both all of the time and so i like them both obviously you get more of expanded look on the desktop but i think the mobile app is fantastic too so cut out card ladder the interface yeah can't beat it forty six there is only one player in nfl history who's worn forty six who's made it into the hall of fame so we're we're here in the the throws of the forties have been have been a little tough but still been a lot of fun and that one player is lou graza and i'll talk about lou for a second so he was born in nineteen twenty four which you know what that's tracking for in nineteen forty six he's well he went to ohio state for a year transferred because he in nineteen he graduated high school in nineteen forty two with a scholarship for ohio state but then he goes away to the army world war two is popping off and then get this this was crazy so he's over in the philippines and he sees a he's like a surgical technician over there he sees a guy get shot in the face he's talking about seeing the wounded where he says i saw a lot of men with severe injuries losing legs guts hanging out stuff like that it's a tough thing but you get hard into it you accept it as part of you being there and then while he's in the army though he receives a package from paul brown the ohio state football coach who went on to form the browns the cleveland browns and the package contained footballs and a contract for him to play for a team that brown was starting the cleveland browns so i'm just picturing you know war is going on there's explosions happening people are getting shot in the face and this guy just sitting off to the side opening a package and then it is a football and it's like at that time probably not maybe what he wanted to see or like is that really gonna help him out that much but you know credit to paul brown it it it worked and he signed a contract in may of nineteen forty five joined the team after the war ended and started getting his seventy five hundred dollar a year annual salary and then once on the browns he was a kicker and he's like the first kicker who was like hitting fifty yard field goals which at the time was like no one was doing that and the browns went on to win four nfl championships while groza was there including he kicked a game winning field goal in one of them nineteen yard field goal which nothing crazy but still had to make it ice in the veins and then one unique note about his kicking style is he kicked it like you know when you kick something you're not supposed to tow bash it or we mhmm we would call it tow bashing it yeah like you toes in the middle of the football like that's how he did it it was just the the straight ahead style and he he goes as in like nineteen ninety seven and i met so he's you know older at this point he goes i don't know why all the kids kick soccer style they kick the ball with the side of their foot which is supposed to give them better control i don't know i never tried it i just like that he he had his way of doing things he did it it worked for him in his career he doesn't get all this new technology all this side of the foot kicking and any of that malarkey he's just going up there bashing fifty yard field goals so shout out lou groza that's a great story always be recruiting i guess paul brown like how did he get that addressed to send i mean that is dedication i know and just like how are like i i don't know just so many logistics that i have questions about but that's there there's another movie scene like if hollywood's looking for movie ideas just go through basically old nfl hall of famers and just read their stories they're always crazy and yeah seventy five hundred bucks a year like the i i understand when you see nfl players even like players in the nineties and this goes for every sport but just like the contracts that players get now i'd be a little pissed if i yeah been an awesome player in the nineties making you know nothing compared to when you're seeing patrick mahomes sign a billion dollar contract or whatever yep sign sign of the times so my selection was a guy it was weird man when i saw it was forty six i had a guy that instantly popped into my brain that i hadn't thought of any in a long time but i just did number and the player and then i took it once and then i looked at the sheet like we what you had on the sheet and maybe we'll we'll i'll just preview this and then i'll get into my guy but there's a little bit of an a little bit of irony here so you you wrote alfred morris on here so obviously alfred morris man what a time to be alive and we're going back why alfred morris' nostalgia nostalgic for me is he's in the same draft as andrew luck in twenty twelve and he was just he came hot out of the gates and i whenever i hear of alfred morris i always think about my good friend joey at the etrader who admittedly talked about how he just went all in and just went nuts buying alfred morris cards in twenty twelve and he had like everything i think so that's a fun aside but shout out alfred morris my pick was actually another another washington court running back who wore forty six just a little earlier and that is mister liddell betts yes that's a football guy and that's such a football guy name in for time and place so what i didn't realize was that he was this he was a second round draft pick out of iowa so he played with the washington redskins from two thousand and two to two thousand and nine and then he played one year with the saints in twenty ten so that career is way longer than i expected out of liddell betts he his stats three thousand three hundred and twenty six rushing yards a hundred and eighty eight receptions nineteen total touchdowns so he is a second round draft pick which if you're drafting a running back in second round in this era obviously like you're thinking like franchise player obviously didn't work out i think he had an injury which sidelined him a little bit but then obviously they brought in clinton portis and so he served as clinton portis' backup so washington put a lot of ammo in that back field with the second round pick and then clinton portis but i i of course i do what i normally do is look up liddell betts cards and there there's only nine hundred and twenty two total liddell betts cards ever sold according to cardladder and all the the highest selling ones all have no pictures because they were from years ago so i just i wanted to look at like what was the last liddell bets cards bets card that sold and so on march twenty fifth twenty twenty four is that no not the last i can't remember what i filtered it by but regardless you've got his two thousand and two bowman chrome rookie auto on card that sold on march twenty fifth twenty twenty four for ninety nine cents so you can get all of the liddell betts auto in twenty four for ninety nine cents so yeah man i just do you have any do you remember liddell betts i remember liddell betts i own a liddell betts card i have his two thousand two finest gold refractor his rookie he's in his like full uniform he's not in practice gear so that's because i don't like the rookies in practice gear from that set so i kinda normally stay away from him but there's a few that i have like maurice morris is another one that's in his full uniform for the seahawks ran antoine randollel so i'll i'll get up here and there i i'll look back and find out what i paid for that linnell betts card but yeah and then i'm looking at his stats i didn't realize so two thousand six portis must have been hurt but betts ran for eleven hundred and fifty four yards and had a nice receiving year of four hundred and forty five yards he had fifteen hundred and ninety nine total yards in two thousand six that's a strong year i think my memory of liddell betts had to be centered around the fact that like it was probably that year that playing fantasy football that you know i picked him up off the waiver wire and he just had a great year i i feel like there's there's gotta be a reason why liddell bets came to my mind and it had to have been it's gotta be fantasy football related but i didn't look season by season so that would track if if that actually happened well then like all it takes is one season for you to be relevant and fancy for four more years that's right everyone's like like the next year oh he could do it and then the year after that all the people who had them the year before don't want them but the people after that are like well he could do what he did two years ago and then you know it slowly it curves down but yeah one one season and then on the alfred morris front yeah as a rookie in two thousand twelve alfred morris ran for sixteen hundred and thirteen yards for the the redskins and at the time r g three too it's like what about landing some picks what a duo and at the time that was the third most by a rookie in history behind george rogers and eric dickerson who in eighty three eighteen hundred and eight yards as a rookie welcome to the nfl that's so sick and another four hundred yards receiving just twenty two hundred yards scrimmage as a rookie and ezekiel elliott passed morris a couple years later in twenty sixteen he ran for sixteen thirty one so edron james is up there number six most and yeah portis is seven mike anderson eight okay denver for a second denver could not you could put anyone back there that was great era but yeah forty six forty six was a thin thin number but some good some good stuff there i gives me a reason to get this ladell betts card out i'm gonna go dig it up see it now i didn't even think about the o two finest of it all yeah he's there alright should we get into some questions let's do it let's do it alright from dobbs card guy loyal listener shout out dobbs card guy always giving questions and just a great account what is your guys' opinion on people having cards posted to their social media after they have sold the card is it deceiving or is it okay to keep the cards up for the memories good question i think first of all i will say this like there was a time where i was trying to manage the appearance of my instagram profile and that that that time is over with there's just too too much going on too many reels too many cards too many whatever so i just i just keep everything up there and i do appreciate the well curated and organized instagram profile but i don't know to me it's a little bit fantasy land to think that like i need to build my or i don't know i just i just like this thought of like someone like going to my profile and like going through each and every card i'm like i don't need to i'm doing too much on the front and i don't need to like optimize for that so that's just me but when it comes to cards i my protocol typically if i remember to is once a card sells i archive it i just try to get it off now i have cards i'm sure from the past that i just am not going back and taking the time to archive that i probably don't own anymore so i maybe we can get into like the deception part of it but i'm not sure like i i don't think like there's any deceiving going on just if you have an old card posted that you don't own anymore a lot of people wanna do that just to like recall the time and place final note for me on this i had something really weird happen to me this week and i don't like it at all so i had a batch of cards that i sold via consignment like nineteen cards that ended on sunday and there was a card in there that ended and i don't know if this person bought the card or was bidding or just paying attention but they went to the card on my profile which once i realized it was there i archived it immediately and they like the com there was a comment on there and it was just did you get what you wanted to for this card and i was like this is just this is so weird i'm like i don't know you why would i engage in this conversation with you like how weird is this so don't don't ever do that like especially if you don't know the person don't ask them if they're happy with what it's sold for when there's been no previous engagement it's just like it's part of working on the internet and doing the things but i just found that really troubling yeah that's funny i was so for this i don't think it's deceiving at all to me unless your account bio says like all of these cards are available like then you are doing some deception but overall i don't think i ever i don't know if if something's like popping up in my feed like a recent post then yes to me that's like this person owns this card but if i'm doing a search on instagram which i've done before if it's like i'm searching for twenty twelve prism card and i search and you're just going through posts like i just never assume that that person still owns the card mhmm or like i'm not gonna get mad if they don't to me it's a starting point for a hunt and i would you know reach out and be like do you still own this it's normally where i would lead what i would lead with not like ask like just assuming that they still own it like so i don't know i don't think it's deceiving again unless you're saying that it's available and you don't own it but beyond that i just kinda think it's like personal preference i i have a lot of stuff i have some stuff i've archived i have some stuff that i've left up because i like seeing the progression of the collection sometimes but i don't know it it's it's always a a good topic to kinda discuss but then it got me thinking it's like do you delete social media pictures of an ex like when when you break up with someone are do you have to wipe them right away do you not like it's i think so i i think you have to once you start a new relationship i don't think you have to the second the relationship ends yes wipe the feed but also like what if yeah i i don't know i think it it there's certain dilemmas that come about with something like that well they should have a feature because you know you're when the breakup happens you gotta just you gotta do it's been a long time since i've been in this position but if i was in this position now you gotta just block and so there's gotta be an automatic block and delete everything feature that's that's what they gotta have but my question to you as we're having about this is your instagram profile for you or is it for other people like are you trying to just is it is it like oh it's for me i mean i i can't actually fully say that it's like if it were just for me i wouldn't it wouldn't be a public thing so it there is part of part of this whole thing is for other people for validation like we if we truly if you truly were doing it for yourself completely you wouldn't be posting on social media that's right that's right is part of that but i don't know i think a lot of it's yeah i don't know i think just the it's so funny like what we do how we have card accounts and how we post pictures of our cards and like write about them and like yep like that act in itself is silly and so like to to to like monitor like again i'm it is for me in the sense of like i'm doing what i wanna do and i don't really i don't want other people to influence my decisions nor do i want to influence other decisions like i think everyone should be collecting truly how they want but yeah when you sit down and really think about it it's like we're all doing this for external validation on some level so i don't know this this is this is interesting i final note on this i have more recently not viewed at my instagram page and and and maybe it's unique circumstances and part of it is i i'm a collector but i'm also a brand and business owner in this space so i don't view like my instagram page as being like the documentation of my collection that is we're gonna shout out our sponsor this is where the collection feature at cardladder lives for me it's like my digital trail of all my cards and and that's for me like yeah you can access it if you wanna look up my profile on cardladder or whatever but like that's my personal like this is what i got and this is how i'm in which i never real the lines were very blurred between that what i'm doing over there and instagram and now they in my mind in the way i approach it they couldn't be more separate yeah yeah that's that's a good call and i'm scrolling through my feed right now and i i have noticed a pattern like i'll always post a card if i really like the card i post it raw first uh-huh and then i lot of times then i'll post it again once it's graded yeah and then sometimes i go back and archive the raw one but okay okay i've been i've been i've been doing the story just to hey everyone i got this story raw here it is and hadn't dedicated a post because it was it become became redundant to me because i was posting twice and i don't need a post twice it'll eventually get graded and once it ends that fine in that final state then i'll do the dedicated post that's like my q one stacking slabs posting cards initiative that's what i'm doing mhmm see i'm i'm of the like it's gonna be so far betw like i just posted my dj more finite and like the raw copy of it yep good looking card even though thank you i wanted to wait for it to be graded so that i could post it with the other two graded ones that i have but just the sun was shining and i'm impatient i'm also very spontaneous sometimes like that would because it was fully in a stack to send off the grading and not be posted and then uh-huh it was i was taking pictures of i just wanna take pictures of cards and post them like i you know sometimes get the itch of i wanna share a card i hear you yeah start talking about it right now but i guess that could have been satisfied on the story so maybe i'll need to get some more story posts going of just looking through cards not as many people see them i figure but your your most intimate audience is getting access to card and then it's then it's easy to engage and start combo exactly in the story alright good question good yeah that one we went longer on that one than i expected but i'll legs out of that got some got real introspective about what we're doing and why why are we here why are we doing this hobby alright from tj is online can you do a segment about really good retired players who are popular and collected but won't sniff the nfl hall of fame for example the penny hardaway of nfl players mcnabb jim mcmahon mccoy waters gary clark herschel walker etcetera shout out tony i i always love that handle t j is online yeah that's a great great man this is what i call i classify as like hall of very good conversation mhmm and i just when i saw this question the first thing i did was just start writing down guys that came to my mind so i'm just gonna what i how i'm gonna contribute here are the guys that just came to my mind never make the hall of fame great players highly collectible or could be highly collectible of course you know i gotta start andrew luck out of the gate so andrew luck aaron foster matt forte lashawn mccoy brandon marshall t y hilton jordy nelson rodney harrison charles tillman bob sanders kevin williams darren woodson those were like the first crop of guys that came to my mind that's a good lot of bears a lot of bears a lot of that's my guys in here so i went with i i just got locked in on like who is the penny hardway of nfl okay and this is probably my own just warped mind because i collect him but priest holmes i do think is a good comp on the sense of they were both like all pro multiple seasons in a row injuries derailed their careers and then had like a few playoff runs but no titles and never an mvp because i was thinking like penny really had like a four year prime before the injury like his first four years in the league were his best four years and then he got hurt so i'm like who came in and had like a a burst like that and they they go to the nba finals early in his career too because terrell davis is also a one of the a king of like a three year four year run but he won the hardware in the postseason and that's where like to me priest and terrell davis their stats are very similar but terrell davis has the postseason hardware and he got a regular season mvp but i like aaron foster too kinda for those reasons he came out hot his you know he was first team all pro in his first year starting and then had two big seasons following that but it's hard with basketball like like three years being in first team all nba player in basketball i feel like your longevity is longer than three good years in football mhmm because like three like basketball you're so visible you're playing that's two hundred and forty some games that you've played in football it's just i feel like you have to be really good in for like ten years if you as not a quarterback to kind of like truly build recognition in football and i i don't know there's probably examples that prove that wrong but i don't know because then i'm just thinking of like the priest holmes to penny comp penny is was such a more global name than priest holmes ever was or ever will be so like that that's the one part that doesn't line up but from like stats into injuries into like kind of one or two deep playoff runs but no championship no mvps that's that's where i was my brain went so in zeroing in on this part of the conversation i love the perspective there i love the priest homes comp but my disconnect as you were going through that was the global status and the popularity and you take the off the field stuff although the off the field stuff caused this the player that i kept coming back to was michael vick oh because of the popularity of the player yeah yeah that's a that's a really good one and like different off the field situations for penny one hundred percent but yes no that's that's a really good one like vic came in and quickly became like the young freak athlete electric kind of like face of the league type guy and penny was that post mj was care like post mj one was carrying that torch yeah vic that yeah vic that's a good one good question yeah and like again in the postseason box vic going into lambo and winning like had a not a deep playoff run didn't go to a super bowl but in football i think it's a little different than nba or i don't know feels different like winning one game in the nfl playoffs doesn't feel the same as winning a series in nba playoffs where you have to win like four games like i don't know it's just something about the amount of wins i guess michael vick question for you real quick when you close your eyes and think about michael vick playing football do you think about him in that all black yep falcon jersey or the white one with the red like on the shoulders i think of the the black one of what you're talking about so not the black he wore his rookie year but then like the next year they did that like the the new jerseys yes okay the black version of that the black because i had that as a kid and so that's the one that i feel like i think of though i don't know though white white and red because of i think that's what that the madden cover yeah god vic was so sick dude i remember when vic came in during his prime to the rca dome and he was one of those players like people were showing up to see him yeah and i'll never forget like the falcons were were were scorching hot and he vic on the first series like it was like third in i don't know week third in like twelve and he dropped back and he was trying to do the michael vic michael vic thing and i was like everyone was like holding their breath and like dwight freddy came off the edge and hit him so hard and i was like okay great like yeah it would have been fun to see a run this early but i'll i'll take the sack instead wow that's what a time man what a great era of football i know truly truly the best yeah so yeah two thousand two they go eight six and one in his first year starting he got fourth in mvp voting wow hurt in o three o four they go eleven and four or he does in his starts i don't know about the game he didn't start second in mvp voting in o four good job michael vick and then yeah he had a good o five and o six but then all his off the field stuff pretty much out of the league for three years came back that eagles comeback though that was awesome like that season that i feel like everyone remembers the deshaun jackson touchdown the monday night football game i just like remember watching that in college at my friend's house just vic going ham good times alright next question from charm city tim feelings on rookie photos with guardian caps and part two will the rookie premier shoot ever return i don't like guardian cap picks i mean again personal preference not for me and like a lot of the players i collect i don't think have them i think kyle manung guy has one in the new prism but not my favorite thing and then as far as the rookie premier i guarantee it will become a thing again like it just people love people want nfl content it's a long off season like if in a month there was like some rookie premier thing that was you know on espn on a friday where they're interviewing rookies and doing photoshoots and the card companies are there doing autograph like i guarantee that will just is a moment that brands can get attached to that nfl fans who are starving for any content about their team would watch clips from so and again with the fanatics tops of it all i'm sure i'm sure that happens and i hope it does because those rookie premier autograph cards are so cool like there could there can be really cool sports cards that come out of an event like that it was even cool seeing at the draft them signing the card yeah we didn't talk about that last week talked about that that's crazy though that that's like yes where cards have come in our culture like that that happened like that is they are getting drafted and the first thing they do after they get a twenty second hug from roger goodell is go over and sign a card i loved watching there was a male and a female involved in that process and the yeah yes i loved like watching them try to get the card over and the whole i mean think about the the production on the back end of making that card possib like the whole thing is insane they need a behind the scenes on that operation yeah i guess i didn't even think about that the card was printed with them and their new team right yeah so they had wow that's hot off the press pac man yeah and then i bet those will go in pack or were they part of like a tops now release or i think they were tops now yeah but that makes those those that makes that tops now hit in that program so much cooler because you got to see it happen like how cool is that yeah that's pretty awesome the only additional commentary i'll add i think i have a j t to a maolo on the colts he's got the guardian cap on his but this one i always think about this joe alt which i love joe alt notre dame but he like one of the although he was hurt last year one of the better linemen in the league in his rookie card he's just running with picture is ridiculous his prism finite he's he's just like kinda running yeah he's just got the guardian cap on yeah i mean if i were a chargers fan i'd still i i don't think this would make me not want it if i was a fan of joe alt and the chargers but i don't know it would it would make me pause before like spending my my top bid would maybe be a little lower yeah my my minus like three hundred and fifty dollars yeah exactly there's a there's a tax there's a fee for the guardian cap alright and last question from tkd tickets if you were looking to share your love of football cards with a noncollector what's the one card from your collection that you would share to illustrate your passion what do you got i like this question a lot because i feel like going along with the hypothetical we always talk of our our collection we're just waiting for someone to walk into a room and be like tell me about your collection it's like oh glad you asked here's you know how you would run through it i like also thinking of the exercise of like you're one on one with a noncollector for five minutes you have one card can you make them want to do this or understand it or like you know what card would i use and i went with my copy it's a two thousand bowman chrome mike brown rookie psa ten because it's got a lot of touch points that i could explain where i mean the team fandom of it all mike brown was like the player that kicked on my bears fandom the set nostalgia i remember ripping two thousand bowman the base paper version as a kid and then like tom brady's a rookie in that like can talk about all that and like set importance so i could talk about team fandom set importance i could talk about my favorite part of this whole hobby the hunt which it took me years to find a copy of that card and i found that copy of the card because some guy on instagram i tried to look it back up his account's now deleted so i can't remember the name but cardboard yeah i think it was cardboard great pull he had he like posted a picture of going through like rows row boxes of two thousand bowman chrome that he had gotten from a friend who had passed away and he was like going through all these cards and trying to figure out what was in there and i was like hey are there any mike browns in there because i've been searching for a two thousand bowman mike brown forever and he's not in the paper set for some reason he's only in the chrome set and they just never pop up and he looked through the road boxes and he had two mike browns in there and he had they he had over twenty brady's and only two mike browns like he had like over twenty of like every player but mike brown there are only two short print yeah i'm like why why and he even i said he's like why are there so few i was like i don't know but i need one and we we're talking and he offered to send me the card for free and i was like no like i sent him money i think i paid fifty bucks for it and i got the copy and i was like so pumped again it had taken years and i sent it off to grading graded myself and it got a gem ten so it's like i could talk about grading the grading aspect too so that card i can talk about team fandom set nostalgia the hunt and grading which i feel like could maybe explain why this is such a fun hobby i love it that's a great answer mine is a card that i've mentioned several times on here but it's my twenty fourteen luck finite it when i think about my collection that is the centerpiece and it it because it encapsulates the product my favorite player my favorite year the highest the highest part the the peak of the mountain of that it i graded it myself which it graded a psa ten it came via grant slayton who spotted it at a card show so there's community involvement it just has all the pieces like if someone came up and tried to like take all my cards they would have to just they they would have to put a bullet in my head to get that one because that that card just means every it's it's if if if i traded or sold that card the rest of it would just come crashing down like i would just be like take it all like i don't want any more of this like that that is the card that holds everything together wow that's a great great card and you got yeah that's right that wasn't part of the finite no you know was before it was be that's what put you know you get a little taste you're like i need more that's was the car and there there's that component too with without that card what i have today does not happen without question you got the taste that just reminds me my friends and i always quote from the town yes the guy cutting the flowers yes put the hook in her gave her a taste doped her up good and proper that was that's a great film telling you a finite yes a hook in them got them hooked on finites alright good questions everybody let's move on to nfl check-in anything we wanna talk about the one thing i wrote down uh-huh should like i don't wanna do another fantasy football league no maxed out of fantasy football you don't do fantasy football no but should we do a football card podcast like pick'em league yes where we have a big pool anyone any listener who wants to join can join and then every week we make our picks and there's a leaderboard could either do straight up picks against the spread probably should do against the spread i think that would be awesome i love it this is the best idea you got however i don't want any responsibility in running it neither do i so we need need a listener who wants to be commissioner of the football card pod pick them league some brave soldier to stand up and run it and then we will fully promote and push it and be involved in it i just wanna be able to submit my picks every week and that's it i don't have to deal with anything else so just putting that out there we got a lot of time before the start of the season but i just wanted to to float that out there so that listeners can start you know thinking who's brave enough to take on that beauty i love the fact that you said i don't want this is why i stopped doing i could i was what's what what drove me into the ground with fantasy sports was that i was running and i was the commissioner of multiple leagues and i and i just said i can't do this anymore i'm out so we might have to if there are people that wanna we're not just taking anyone just because you say you wanna be involved there's might need to do an interview process we we this is important stuff so this is not something just if you're the first one to say i wanna do it we're just gonna give it to you we've yeah really need the right person to plug in here and do that have to have a resume yeah it's like running previous commissioner experience you know is encouraged not required maybe other examples of running successful organizations some you know madden dynasty stats did you you know have you cleaned up in dynasty or even ncaa you know have you been in a gm position a commissioner position where you've controlled things and and led teams to glory led leagues to glory so yeah we'll we'll start taking app we'll open up for applications closer to the season but just start thinking about it everybody all the all the loyal football card podcast listeners i can promise you the prize of this thing is going to be awesome i i can if this becomes a thing the prize will be this will be an opportunity for us to dangle a prize and get as many people involved and new listeners this is a marketing gimmick for the football card podcast as well so yeah this is exciting so first step here john floated it out there if you have interest and you've got credibility just dm the football card pod and we'll we'll go from there we've gotta run our process but this is great the only thing i wanted to talk about in this section was releases and first of all in nfl scheduling to anticipation it reminds me of like when they were promoting val venus in the wwe in the attitude era you never knew when he was gonna show up they just kept promoting his vignettes val venus is coming which is pretty funny on top of it but the i'm like the i see these nfl schedule vignettes on my tv like all day every day and it's just like nfl schedule in may it's like motherfuckers we're in may right now like tell us the date so i'm waiting for the schedule i shared with you i'm like i'm trying to figure out what away game i'm gonna go to and yeah so i'm waiting on that so there's that but then also i wanna i'm i pull it up right now which tops here how about this we've got a release calendar on tops dot com so you can actually see and it says dates are subject to change but you can see when the next football card products are set to hit release we've got where's we've got finest football on may fifteenth and we've got cosmic chrome on monday eighteenth so those are back to back but two new football releases in may because i was thinking to myself i was like when is the next football product come out coming out which then i'm thinking about this we've got we're in twenty twenty five right now and twenty twenty six because they're playing from behind a little bit but then what like when is the next chrome coming out so we're gonna have like i'm guessing we're gonna have two sets of rookies in one year during this transitional period but i don't know if you're nerdy on releases and years and guys and configurations of rookies like don't talk about the prices don't talk about the hype just if you take a couple steps back we're like in a period of time that i'm not sure we've been in since twenty twelve where a lot is going on and it's kinda fun to just watch it take shape absolutely yeah shout out the the release calendar of that two things i have to talk valvenus was he hello ladies is that how hello ladies okay can't remember that was him yeah jenna jameson was in his like that they strapped the rocket on him figuratively and you know symbolically like literally jenna jameson was in his early promos it was like they really wanted to get this guy over wow i gotta i'm gonna i got some youtube to watch after this on valvenus and then the release calendar got me thinking seeing that these may dates of another when i was watching wrestling heavy early two thousands the kane may nineteenth teaser do you remember that like for months it was like may nineteenth may nineteenth anytime kane was wrestling it's like holy shit what's happening may nineteenth and then may nineteenth comes and it was like the trailer for the the movie that kane's in like the see no evil or oh that that was it i was trying to see no evil yes yeah but just like i remember being like so me and my buddy were like what's happening may nineteenth we're so pumped and then it you just find out it's the release of the movie that came to start but what's ironic about that is the anticipation of the kane character but paul bear was you know he was he and undertaker had separated ways undertaker was in this feud with shawn michaels but undertaker was also in this feud with his former manager paul bear and paul bear was telling the story on raw of your little brother he's alive and so they had this whole buildup in anticipation and then hell in a cell undertaker shawn michaels which is fantastic max was the debut of the kane character and came out fire and so it's ironic in a way where you have kane in the buildup was one of the best debuts of a character in wwe history but then you follow that up with maybe they're trying to strike gold twice but it was just a silly movie promotion so i gotta i gotta go back and look watch some of those old the god the marine which was john john cena the marine series wwe releases i'm sure there's some gems in there yeah scorpion king the rundown uh-huh and then walking tall yeah the rock the rock was everything in there for the condemned stone cold i feel like i saw that oh yeah he was stone cold stone cold's first spot was here's a poll he he guested on nash bridges you remember that show i remember of it i know of it oh man take me back i know good times and also that era was when ddp was the stalker when he was stalking undertaker not good not good but like when he did the reveal i remember we were my friends and i were like what who's ddp that's hilarious oh god alright let's get into some sales in our market watch sponsored by card ladder alright we got a twenty five prism draft picks barry sanders black finite one of one psa ten this card sold for two k so barry sanders obviously has a lot of collectors these cards aesthetically look good it's barry sanders in a college uniform i i was thinking about this and my mindset was man to me there's absolute justification for buying a card like this especially if you're a big berry guy and second i was like two thousand dollars i know it's prism draft picks but this kinda seems like if you're a berry guy this kinda seems like a deal so i don't know like you could completely disagree but that's how i was processing this card when i saw it no that's i said this card looks sick and i get it like i get this price where even just for me if nate davis and bonzi wells are the two ball state guys that i can really point to if one of them had a black finite in a ball state jersey i'd spend a lot of money on it so i can see how even not a berry guy if there's like a oklahoma state collector out there like this quickly becomes one of the coolest berry sanders oklahoma state cards out there so i totally get it and that looks awesome those oklahoma state jerseys are so cool great image of it and you just like you're so used to seeing barry and lyon stuff you i just haven't seen enough barry sanders oklahoma state cards and so this to me was very appealing yeah i think i saw recently in a safe search kevin durant in a texas jersey there's a draft picks like nebula and i was like this is pretty sick yeah if i was a texas guy you know like i don't know i think some of those hit especially when the college career was a strong career which for barry and katie it was yes we're on super fracture watch we're first going with here you go here's my in defense of mickey mouse we have a kyler murray as super factor one of one selling for two thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars out of tops chrome that is a great looking card you know tyler this could end up being a really good buy how do you feel about kyler murray on the vikings how do you feel about this card are you optimistic underwhelmed like what what we haven't spent enough time talking about the change of scenery for yeah k one so first thought was maybe i underestimated mickey because thinking of mickey running like an rpo where he's just kinda moving outside the pocket like maybe mickey's got some wheels that i didn't consider when in my first you know draft grade of mickey of sir mickey mouse of michael mouse this kyler card it just feels weird be i wish he was on the vikings in it like fresh start fresh new set like i would be way more excited about this card seeing him in the vikings gear where instead of like his last year cardinals that like fizzled out that's kinda what this card makes me feel versus the new greener pastures ahead of him but i don't know kyler's a weird one like i yeah i've never been like a huge fan i thought he was gonna be awesome after those first couple years where he was just running around making big plays and i hope caleb williams doesn't fall into the kyler murray trajectory of like i need the bears and caleb to have a good year this year and i'll feel much better if it yeah you know it because it can happen like that like everyone thought kyler murray was set up to be the long term solution for a team and the nfl's hard it's hard to have sustained success so he's kind of like a cautionary covid tale too i feel like he was a he was a darling during that that era i know you were a a kyler fan hale murray the hale murray hale murray i mean what a play like yeah so cool card i think these super look really great this year the twenty twenty five tops chrome but yeah i just my first thought was i wish this was vikings that would feel stronger before we move off of kyler murray i gotta share with you the information i've received on the height of mickey mouse mhmm so mickey mouse in his his cannacle height is two feet three inches to two six two feet six inches approximately twenty three pounds walt disney reportedly envisioned him as around three foot tall if you wanna go disney park costume height we're at five foot to five three performers in of mickey or minnie usually cast with this specific height range and then there's a note in the kingdom hearts video game series mickey is depicted as shorter than the human character sora roughly aligning with his shorter animated stature so that's that's all you need to know about the height of mickey that's good to know i'm still i'll do some more research but why is moana seven six that makes no sense how tall is everybody else how tall is maui that's what i'm saying how tall maui's gotta be godzilla height yeah that's we're because like multiple sources are claiming seven six on a google search and yeah i gotta debunk this like where where is that coming from where did that all start next card up what do we have well we've got the lamar jackson super fracture which appears via the title was a mega box hit so can you can you imagine pulling this guy in a mega box which by the way look up in the left corner it looks like someone took a white out thing to it is that just how the light hits like what do you see the glare i think that's like a light yeah you can't have you can't have that glare on this card come on take take a better picture fifteen thousand dollars via best offer what's your reaction to that that's a expensive card i mean that i haven't seen one in hand these supers look awesome that i think quickly becomes one of his more expensive cards i was looking up like i know his rookie finite sold for like eighty k this isn't a rookie but this falls in range now with one of his like n t rpas out of ninety nine yep and it's i don't know i i think for that money i guess i would probably rather have the one zero one superfactor than the r p o one nine nine me personally same i don't know fifteen i don't know it's so hard to say if it's a good number or not when it comes to a card like this you know like i just i love this aesthetic the super factor aesthetic obviously i collect gold vinyl my my trouble is i i from an aesthetics perspective in the one of one conversation i do not i do not look at the finite and the superfractor in the same breath i just i'm a prism simp i know this and i'm admitting it but the these there there's a dullness to the superfractor there's a lit it's it's a little muted for me if i'm like pulling it out of the case and just like wanna get really amped up it it doesn't do the same thing that a finite does for me and this is personal but this just that's just how i feel i feel that yeah i understand alright we're moving over to the nineties how about a ninety seven flare showcase andre reed row one masterpiece psa nine selling for two thousand two hundred and fifty bones via auction it's got the do rag on cool looking card this guy you know know he's a hall of famer but i feel like he still gets kinda lost in the shuffle i mean he was so so dominant on so many winning teams great player great card yeah this card is sick well i love these flare showcase images with like the the plain image and then the close-up of the player in the background i think so this set like i think it's a little i just don't know these sets that well and it's funny a priest homes from ninety nine recently popped up on believe it's about to go live on fanatics and danny shout out danny modest card collection sent it to me and we're kinda talking and there's like nine one of ones in these sets right which is there's the three different levels and so i do think that is a little confusing for new collectors to the these sets but i don't know it's still a cool one of one of a hall of fame player this this andre reed one so i like it i think this is cool if i if i was collecting that player team i would definitely want this card alright the next card is card of your guy here we got the flawless diamond team logo caleb out of twenty four flawless rookie one of one selling for nine thousand nine hundred dollars my question to you is how what do you think of these cards like what is your thoughts on these diamond logo team logo cards and obviously this is would consider a pretty significant caleb williams rookie card yeah i don't like it i mean for me for me for me again this is all subjective i guess and on the next card that we're gonna talk about but my notes i said i don't need gemstones in my cards or precious metals like i just need to focus on the player like learning sets and parallels is already enough i don't wanna also then have to learn what like a troy ounce is or what diamonds are in my card like it's just it's a different level i like i want the focus of the card to be the player and when i look at this card the focus is the giant bears logo bejeweled bedazzled with rhinestones and and so it's just not something i would collect that said if i saw ten of these like ten different bears players of this card next to each other i would think that's sick and awesome and i would think so cool but like this card on its own would add nothing to my collection so that's that's where that reaction's coming from but if like this is your lane if you love this card and are piecing them together that is awesome but like for sure yeah i my struggle is just price point just that these are expensive and it just i would rather spend the money on something else the last card is the twenty one panini eminence luxury platinum joe burrow platinum bar relic one of one we're getting some unique stuff here i wanted to bring this card sold for two thousand six hundred and twenty nine dollars one of one i wanted to bring this up because it's almost like a fever dream that eminence came in football like it was like yeah it it was there but i just feel like nobody responded to it because it's such a premier product on the basketball front with the autographs and everything else but it just i felt like the eminence brand in football kinda went off like a fart in church yeah yeah i mean this looks cool i like the foil i like the the dark look it's like a noir look but the the big chunk of silver like i don't need it i don't need a eminence branded silver chunk in my card point nine nine nine fine platinum troy ounce one troy ounce it's like what are the what are these things like what point nine nine nine what point nine nine nine platinum or is is one troy ounce point like i don't know it just brings up too many questions in in my little brain like i maybe i'm just not mature enough for this card but again seeing a bunch of these like if you had the burrow platinum gold and silver next to each like oh okay all of a sudden i'm seeing it so yeah i do potential for awesome to be an awesome piece in a collection just not mine i wish the the parallel structure and maybe it is i just know nothing about these cards i wish that the piece in the middle like the one of one was the heaviest and then it all the way down and i it'd be funny to see like people pulling off their scales at like card shows like weighing these like validating yeah but i think they look pretty cool but yeah i don't know just not really for me yeah that's it that's it alright good sales people are buying football cards hooray alright collecting updates what are the current collecting projects that you're focusing your resources on any updates on that front brett yeah shout out my good man paul cold stable eight zero eight the good brother him and i have done so many cold steals i think about any someone who collects like me in the space paul is as close as it gets he brought to my attention and i'm assuming because he already had a copy because he's a big deforest buckner fan he shared with me a available copy of the twenty three deforest buckner gold vinyl i think it was like two hundred bucks i just smashed ben on it because when i think about all of the colts players across all the years of prism deforest buckner's in that upper quartile for me he's just a beloved colt and i i absolutely love him and then i knew it was a significant bin smash because it allows me now to take his twenty one black finite gold and gold vinyl and pair it with the twenty three black finite gold and gold vinyl so it's a six pack of buckner of all my favorite parallels that i have completed with this purchase so i've been on a dry spell for a while speaking of a dry spell you know i've never been in the into this artist but i'll shout out the new casey musgraves record she's got a song in there called dry spell and lyrically it is a masterpiece i'm a big lyrics guy it's a perfectly written pop song so shout out casey musgraves shout out paul shout out to forrest buckner we were where were we driving i was driving with my wife and she's just playing music and that song came on i was like wow it's good lady is horny very very very very alright i had one pickup i'm so pumped about i don't have it in hand so i hope it doesn't get end up lost or or stolen but two thousand two finest refractor drew bledsoe okay that makes number fifty five out of sixty two of the base veteran refractor set from two thousand two finest like i've been searching for bledsoe for a while like he's him and rod smith were the two like non hall of fame guys that were kind of on my list and this came up for auction from canada and i won it for eight dollars and i think i my max bid was ten times i was not gonna lose this true bloods out refractor and i don't know it's one of the a purchase i'm so pumped about and it's just i'm happy that an eight dollar card can still make me this happy in this hobby and it's just to me a testament of like collecting a set collect having a project is so much fun where all of a sudden a card that seems like it's just a throwaway card becomes you know feels like a monumental mail day so always encouraging people to you know find some random set some random parallel that like these are refractors out of two fifty you know it's not super scarce or anything like they do pop up so having a chase like that is fun it doesn't always have to be you know black finites and one of ones and uber expensive cards you can you can still find mail day joy from an eight dollar base refractor i feel like just as you're going through that it's like sheryl crow if it makes you happy just playing on in the background eight dollar cards let's go eight dollar card so but like watching that auction tick down i was like someone's gonna come in it's like no no bid at the final buzzer because it's a few months over fracture that was eight bucks but you never know you know always always waiting until yeah it's like twenty seconds left job's not finished job's not finished i need this auction to end and job's not finished it's not i don't have it yet it's not in my possession honestly yeah that's what kobe's talking about i shouldn't be sharing this kobe saying job's not finished is he doesn't you're talking about a card before you have it in hand so maybe i'm about to blow this three one lead on this true bloodsuck card i i'm i'm i'm rooting for you man yeah alright that is episode forty six let's get into our card call out last week defensive backs that was awesome what offering of defensive backs so many good cards players and it has me wanting to just continue down the position streak because then i was thinking linebackers i wanna see some linebackers but if you have something else brett we could visit that but let's do lbs man lbs let's see the mics green green dot guys green dot guys yeah that's been every every colts every piece of content because of alan the draft it's just every article it's been i've seen green dot a million times like it's just burning my brain so green dot guy yeah yeah he green dot is like they have the microphone right yeah or the headset yeah and then are we counting like outside line yeah all linebackers even like is a micah parsons a linebacker or is he an n no this is what we need to be specific here because we can get into this weird hole i i want to and you can it's just your show you can prove me wrong but i wanna see the middle linebacker i wanna see the quarterback of the defense i don't wanna see i don't wanna see edge rushers because edge rusher can be open to interpretation based on the formation so i just wanna see that that guy the the you know i'm thinking like ray the ray lewis of it all the urlacher of it all see urlacher not briggs even though briggs they were in like a four three he was a true outside linebacker the the i think that's okay may maybe i'm making this way more complicated just post whoever the hell you are i mean tiered points for agreed on the point structure of a true middle linebacker green dot guy most points if you start getting into the fringes and start getting into the gray areas like you can still share your card we love seeing linebacker cards of all we do types with like all linebackers matter and we'll we'll we'll post them they do the mics the middles those get bonus points so yes post your linebacker cards tag the football card pod we will reshare thank you for listening tell a friend to listen to the football card to follow the football card pod on
