The Football Card Podcast #41: Patience, Pricing, and the Problem with How We Move Cards

hello and welcome to the football card podcast this is it it's friday and you made it you're listening to the fastest growing podcast in the entire world that's centered on football cards and most importantly football cards i'm your host john aka pac nicholson and with me as always is brett mister stacking slabs himself brett how are you doing i'm well what is not been going well for me has been my commute to drop my kids off at daycare and it's actually and i this is the first week where i have all three of them so i am that dad that's like trying to wrangle three kids into a car and take them to and drop them off where they need to be it's not necessarily that i've added another to the mix in this process the challenge has been the commute because of what's going on here in the great city of indianapolis this week and that's the final four and they've got this music festival that they have going on so it's messing all the travel lanes up and everything and which is fine but it's just making my life a little more challenging and then i like took a step back because i was like this is good for the city like don't don't think about yourself this is good for the city i was thinking about it it's like twenty twenty six man hosted the combine final four this week got the five hundred in may you got indianapolis the host city man three monster events let's just layer on the nfl draft on top of this like we we can do it so this is a i saw i've seen a couple tweets about it but this is a petition to everybody at the league office that we in the city of indianapolis the the greatest host city in the universe would like the nfl draft and why don't we just put it right there at the indianapolis motor speedway got the snake pit going on you got the drafts just we're gonna have a a pre indianapolis five hundred with the draft before the five hundred so that's that's what's on my mind because all these events are happening right now what if the consolidation draft during the indy five hundred infield draft while the cars are going can you imagine that would be the ultimate collaboration who here's the question who is in the snake pit what what dj do you want mixing it up while the draft is going on and while cars are flying around the track who who you picking woah what dj i mean no one's even coming to my mind as far as like when i think of dj i think like dj premier and i i would love to have primo up there scratching that would be sick but i think the crowds the crowds want chainsmokers isn't that who they're getting this year it's yeah i feel like it's a big pit staple like the chainsmokers are always there you know what's funny about you saying that i think i saw a graphic that the chainsmokers were doing like the late night set somewhere here for the final four they're just like on the corporate trade they've got like the corporate connection just plug them in it's the chain smokers yeah they're probably getting a great bag for it it's not a bad gig i don't know what dj what dj do you need to see there you know i think for me in my at my age and analyzing i like i like the old hip hop dj certainly i was a big qbert fan back in the day a lot of those guys were just great influential to me but i think i mean i'm i'm probably picking jamie xx from the xx like he you know he's a versatile guy he's released his own albums he's part of one of my favorite bands but when when you hear a jamie xx dj set it just like takes me to another planet so i'm picking jamie x x i think he actually opened up for like harry styles like some major pop star at like msg recently to get the party going so i'm i think he qualifies yeah that's a good one fred again fred again too i've been like i feel like i haven't gotten into it as much of as if i were younger but every time like i get a clip served on my social media of him like chopping up a track or just performing something live i'm like okay yeah this is awesome so i i would check that out one other note on just driving three kids to daycare what are you listening to in the car with three kids is there ever do you come to a consensus do you just strong-arm that and play whatever you want or is it silence what do we what do we hear in the stacking slabs mobile great question so we have rules i realized when my oldest daughter turned about two and a half she immediately said no to podcast she's like daddy we gotta have music on so this morning we were listening to the latest courtney barnett album okay so she's she rocks and you know i got three daughters so they're typically asking for female front female led vocals so we do that they're i've ingrained them to be big goose fans because they're like the family band we we listen to their live sets they just they had on nuggs just dropped their their back on tour and they just had their first live set so they it's kinda crazy it's like these kids like i'm listening to these guitars wailing and you know this jam band i'll hear them like singing in the background i'm like am i i'm i'm turning my kids into like hippies like really early so probably goose most of the time i will say i i have thought about this where and this is kind of fun part about being a dad i'm like i can't wait to be able to take my kids to go see goose for the first time like that experience of oh we've listened to him in the car for you know five years now let's go see him so probably goose or some you know waxahachie fee female led vocals are usually i i introduced them recently to the bodyguard soundtrack so we had which is just the whitney houston of it all that record is just unreal like sound the best soundtrack of all time so yeah that's that's what we're mixing it up with i have a hard and fast rule like disney in the car like i'm a heel when it comes to that i'm like we when we're at home we get back from school we'll blast it while i'm making dinner you can go run around and do all the songs but i just i can't do that that early in the morning that's i like that i'm we're just now getting to the age my daughter's just over two and a half of like i'm trying to explain what the radio is and the radio is you don't get a request what the music is it's just gonna play and whatever's playing is playing and it might be daddy music and i i might maybe the request line is working but just the trying to battle the just necessity of a toddler to have exactly what they want when they want and like it's like no this isn't how it works it used to work where you put on a station and whatever they're playing is what you hear you didn't get a request i never requested a song in my car as a kid are you kidding me that just you have to the radio station if you wanted to that yeah you want a request here's a phone hit the lines that's all that but it's been fun to yes like inject more of like my music into it and then like what you're saying like seeing her like start to like repeat lyrics and like say things i'm like oh this is awesome i can't wait for the day we go to a concert so yes yes that's funny it's it's funny you mentioned the content topic where we had to explain commercials the other day it's like this is our lives we just sat through commercials mhmm and i think about the access to everything like we had to go to blockbuster to go rent a movie and like you have everything so we implemented a rule because with a two and a four year old there's just like competition for shows where it's we're doing we're doing you pick it's like we're like you pick one then you pick one it's like we're i'm done with the battling it's i'm done with all the platforms it's like you wanna watch you wanna watch spidey and friends cool you wanna watch tots cool you wanna watch gabby cool and it's just like usually in the morning it's like each of them gets one show and what luckily for me they're becoming shows that they both like to watch so that's usually what i'm dealing with every morning wow the chaos now you get to now you get to escape to the football card pod i'm glad to be here forty one by the way i thought about this ed since we're talking music i would say like i am not the biggest nor have i ever been the biggest although the influence is i know where you're going i know exactly where you're going the influence is tremendous based on how old we are and the era we grew up on grow up in and now i'm feeling even more nostalgic talking about dave matthews' band yep and i had to call it out i i like dave never been a massive dave guy but now as i get older i definitely have more nostalgia and just the longevity of that band's career is insane but number forty one is my favorite dave matthews band song and we are on episode number forty one so i gotta give that a shout out yes absolutely that came when i saw number forty one because yes growing up when we grew up the you couldn't escape the dave matthews presence especially i grew up a mile from deer creek aka verizon wireless aka was it ruehof now but going to dave matthews concerts in high school like that was a rite of passage in central indiana it feels like and then yeah i think the other day when it was like nice outside i was like trying to think of something to play on the jbl i was like oh what about little dave live at central park there we go forty one boom it was hitting and then one other dave matthews tidbit that i'll just share when i lived in chicago i was working at a music website pigeons and planes and i you know the famous dave matthews tour bus dumping poop on the people on the tour boat of course it has a plaque right in chicago i'm the one who originally made the first ever plaque for for that incident so when i was at pigeons and planes i found out i was also working like a full time job downtown chicago and i realized like i was like two blocks from the bridge i was like this is hilarious i'm gonna write and i wrote an article for the website that was kinda like a a sarcastic like tongue in cheek of like a a fan making a pilgrimage to like a historic site like going to abbey road or something and i went there and i i wrote like a handwritten plaque like on this day and this whatever and like took a picture of it and that was in the article and that image like went viral on reddit it's a big deal i actually am in i have it somewhere an official dave matthews like faq book that this guy wrote and there's like a chapter or like a small chapter on the cooperage and like my pictures in there they like i have quotes in there it's awesome but then after that that kind of kicked off because that was like twenty thirteen or twenty fourteen it kinda renewed interest in that and since then like riot fest made like a real plaque that they put on there and then like every year since it's become more and more of a thing but if you trace it all the way back yeah old old pac nicholson was behind the resurgence in popularity of the poop bridge i did not know you would you were a d and b influencer you learn something new every day that's what we do here on the football card pod we just we're just talking we gotta start a music pod or we'll make a music section at some point because we i've i've thought about it it would the like i've already thought about the shows the segments and it at someday it is it is in the ultimate back burner to have the extension of stacking slabs music brand it it'll someday we keep on this trajectory it'll happen alright episode forty one wouldn't be possible without our wonderful sponsors cardladder the only ones the number one most official data provider in all of the universe shout out cardladder and team everyone go check out the latest episode of cardladder confidential great people great product go sign up forty one is kinda lacking on the hall of famer front the only three hall of famers listed on nfl site are all players that we've talked about with other numbers like forty one wasn't their main number at all and they're all vintage guys we got arnie herbert making a comeback clark hinkle and cal hubbard who we just talked about i think on like thirty nine or forty so no real which is crazy like no current players have ever made the hall of fame we're in number forty one so there is there is opportunity there is that the first time i mean i guess technically there are three but this is the weakest number as far as hall of famers by far so there's that as far as the highest av of a forty one that goes to eugene robinson the cornerback for the seattle seahawks green bay packers for a couple years but he had a sixteen year career as a defensive back fifty seven interceptions three pro bowls won a super bowl with the packers eugene robinson had a nice little career i don't know if it's hall of fame worthy but one of the stronger forty one careers and his nickname was the prophet which is sick and i thought is it because like he knew what the defense or the offense was gonna do and that led to his interceptions but it's really just because he was a very outspoken religious person so that's why they call him the prophet which is i was like ah i like the other one i was i was more excited about yeah my interpretation of it but the prophet regardless is still a sick nickname but that was one that stood out and then alvin kamara just had to shout out alvin kamara as as a fantasy running back fan and a fan of running backs who can path or catch and run kamara i mean fantasy legend too for a couple years his two thou his twenty twenty season he had sixteen hundred all purpose yards and twenty one touchdowns five pro bowls a rookie of the year yeah alvin kamara did did was he never all pro kamara two second team all pros two second team okay his prime years were pretty pretty solid so yeah that's surprising that he never got at least one first team he never has rushed he's never rushed for a thousand yards in a season is that right which is interesting his highest was nine fifty in twenty twenty four he hit he was a consistent like seven hundred to nine hundred but then on the receiving front a consistent like five hundred to seven hundred and so just like his scrimmage yards every year from his rookie year fifteen hundred fifteen hundred thirteen hundred sixteen hundred thirteen hundred thirteen hundred eleven fifteen hundred like just a steady mhmm steady back doing it both and getting a lot of touchdowns he has eighty six touchdowns in his career so lot of collectors too yeah his saints cards are he just looks sick too he's a cool looking running back with the visor and the black and the gold and then his gold cards look awesome gold vinyl all that yeah his cards look amazing yeah he's i used to i started to dabble in his cards once but then i had to chop him off during a consolidation but yeah awesome awesome player and then brian piccolo shout out brian piccolo brian's song bears legend sad story played running back with gale sayers was his backup kind of a remember the titans story situation where they were like the first interracial players to like be roommates and then he died really young he died at twenty six i didn't realize it's like great movie yeah billy dee williams james khan what about what about you forty ones anyone jump out yeah i this one was easy for me i i selected antoine bethea who is just an all time cult he i hopefully i can remember this but we'll dig up my my antoine bethea jersey and it has seen better days i think i wore that jersey for like six straight years seasons in lucas oil and it probably had some rca dome dust on it a little bit but had his jersey always thought he was just a wonderful player he was a six round pick out of howard over exceeded his expectations fourteen seasons in the nfl he he was at the time before bob sanders you know left and retired like he kinda got overshadowed by bob sanders but like he literally played with bob sanders and it was just an insanely fun safety duo to watch super bowl team safety he went on to play in san francisco arizona and new york but he has been on record having conversations over the last few years and he is identified as just like the colts are his team and he's just a great guy so shout out antoine bethea i was the irony of all of this is just i've got an update that i saw on instagram literally right before i hit record on this but going through the highest sales of all time he's got a twenty twelve autograph finite one of one that is sold a few times people always send it to me i love antoine bethea but i have a hard and fast rule against sticker autographs i just can't do them and maybe we'll talk about that from a mailbag perspective here in a a little bit but it's crazy card collector seven forty posted this morning not for sale incoming and just has the card just literally bought the card because it's been it's i can't even tell you on ebay forever right it sold like it's it's there's two sales here it just keeps people somebody had bought it and someone tries to sell it to me and i'm just like dude i love antoine bethea but i'm not buying this card because i have a rule against sticker auto so this card sold the last sale or according to maybe i should do a let's see march twenty seventh yeah sold march twenty seventh for eight hundred and fifty dollars i mean it's a cool card here's the craziest nugget about this card antoine bethea is not in the twenty twelve base set he's not in the base set he just has this sticker autograph and i every time i see this card it just pisses me off because i'm like why couldn't they have just added him to the base set if this were the base set finite the highest selling antoine bethea card of all time would be that and what i would pay for that would be people would laugh at it because i loved him that much i just i can't go here but anyways antoine bethea forty one this card is cool yeah that's it that's awesome that's so weird that he's not in the base set but has an auto are there other i'm sure there are other players like that i i have not found another player although i've not done the investigation when i uncovered this it just didn't make any sense to me and it just every time i see this card honestly it pisses me off because i just want them in the base set if it wasn't a sticker auto would you want it if it was a noncard auto or is it like the because i just feel like you're not an autograph guy if it were on card and this was my only option then i i think i would make the exception to the rule the other thing about like yeah the auto is not the best on the card either it's got the little smudgy on the it fades a little bit so yeah that i i could do it if it were on card but i just can't do the sticker that makes sense but who was i know it wasn't bethea and i can't think of the name it's been bugging me but it was a colts player who then i think he like retired at halftime was but i think he might have went to the bills oh vontae davis rest in peace davis okay rest in peace vernon davis' brother who was one of the the better cornerbacks of that era he was his game against the broncos in the afc championship or to get to the afc championship was otherworldly so rest in peace vonte davis yeah i guess i didn't connect those dots i didn't realize he had passed away and then that makes the retiring at halftime story less funny to me but because who knows what was going on but that was just when it happened all the time he's just done just done just hey like antonio brown when you know you know just gotta get out alright episode forty one let's get into some questions the mailbag the three and out so we're sitting in our last episode we were fourth and goal from the eight i was kinda thinking it'd take some points but we're gonna go for it and all of these questions will lead into us going for it and by the end of these four questions we'll know if we scored a touchdown or not so first question from buybuybabycards since the crossover is dead what inning are we in i don't think the crossover's dead shout out chris and josh and shout out your show with them cardlighter confidential it's they're through clc right now maybe but yeah since the crossover is in a coma what inning are we in brett for those of you who aren't indoctrinated to the what inning of it all question it was a question that continued to pop up in the card ladder on card ladder on crossover during the pandemic boom and it would just be a running joke my first question andy is innings this isn't baseball pal this is football what are we doing what quarter are we in what down and distance are we in yes what's the situation let's be more specific i think we're in the part of the we're in the part of the game where half the crowd thinks it's the first inning and the other crowd thinks it's the ninth and both are making buying decisions based on that belief if we weren't all in different innings we'd have nothing really to complain about so that's i i think we're there are people everywhere and we're scattered doing different things what about you what do you think i like that multiple universes on the same tracks well yeah i i was thinking well if it's football and like situational i kinda think similar to what you're thinking like some people are saying go for it some people are selling or you know so we're we're a short down in distance we're like fourth and two around midfield towards the end of the second quarter where it's it's you know it's up to you to decide do you wanna go for it and keep this drive going and put some points up before halftime or do you wanna punt and pin them if you go for it and don't get it then they have a chance i kinda think we're in that no man's land where analytics are are kinda like you know it's a toss-up who knows but yeah this overall i don't know because this game's never gonna end so how can we be in an inning right or a quarter it's going it's going going on forever the hobby will never die it won't it won't alright next question from chargers pc sports cards didn't the rookie ticket brady surpass a million i believe kraft bought it question mark and this is in reference to our recent chatter on past episodes about football cards not having million dollar sales i looked it up kraft did buy a rookie ticket auto contenders not the championship ticket for a hundred and twenty thousand dollars in twenty twenty four it was a bgs nine five auto ten card ladder values it at a hundred and twenty six thousand dollars now so good job mister craft he might be up six grand you would think with those kind of pockets he would he would you know splurge for the the champ ticket yeah i mean what are you doing kraft you didn't have belief in his boy brady do you you think he cashed out on that to fund some additional trips to jupiter florida it tracks i mean everything i know about this guy he loves a massage alright third question from drake's pc when it comes to buying and selling cards what's each of your thresholds for shipping or in person meetings via car or plane for example is anything under a thousand ground advantage or priority is every anything one to ten thousand overnight and is ten thousand plus an in person meeting question mark so kind of what are our strategies for different value cards okay i i think first and foremost and call me crazy on this i need a gut check but i know there's been a lot of instances in the mail we have talked about both of those and perhaps we'll talk about yours even further but i and i'm gonna knock on wood here i have a lot of confidence on the overnight stuff like what if i'm overnighting something i'm not worried about it because it's getting on a plane and usually getting to where it needs to be at the right time so i you know whatever the dollar value threshold is is i don't know like if i'm if i'm mailing someone a five hundred dollar card i am probably overnight even i'm overnighting it because i don't wanna deal with the fallout of it so that's a message to everyone like if you're if you're you know five hundred to a thousand certainly a thousand but just overnight it like don't deal with the headache and work it out in advance with the individual i'll say i'll also say like i don't do a lot of direct sales deals in selling and some people might say well don't you want the cards to get to another collector of course i do but i also appreciate the facilitation process i like other people handling my stuff i'm willing to pay for that i'm willing to pay fees and i really like watching my auctions go it's entertainment if i'm selling something let me see how much it's going for that's what i like i like that so i like overnighting a box of cards to a consignor and letting those things run so there's that in person deals i will i'm all for driving or getting on a plane if need be i have found some of my favorite cards and pickups of all time have come that way i don't think i have ever had to go actually i take that back i i have sold cards to people who wanted to meet in person but it's not typical or normal i will if it is a card i really want i would happily cross state lines that is no problem if it is a card i really want like take that reggie wayne finite for instance if the seller said to me i think he was in florida if he was like the day after thanksgiving he's like i don't feel comfortable sending this in the mail i would have gotten on a plane and go gone and picked up that card so i just think it's so situational but i just think we need to do a better job of not what blows my mind and may this is a it's a feeling or an instinct i get from people sellers try to make squeeze every last inch of profit off of what they're selling by using the lowest service on the mail side and we gotta stop doing that like we we have to stop doing that especially this in this era where there's theft where there's fraud all this stuff like pay for the extra build it into your price do what you gotta do to get the cards from the right place to the right place yep insure your shit it just makes it better when you're shipping anything and yeah pay for the pay for the overnight shipping on these cards and i'm fully with you on the auction front because even like i haven't sold a card in a while like direct but i had a car like i bought a bigger card so i had to sell a couple cards and someone had reached out to me recently about a card so i was like alright i'll go to them direct and try and sell this card to them since they you know within the last couple weeks had asked about it specifically and as soon as i did it i was like i hate this process like i just hate like i probably overvalue my things they wanna get a deal i mean it was great like they're very kind they like they did nothing wrong it was just more of the the negotiating isn't always fun like sometimes i'm like i'd rather just send it off to the auction and let the market tell me what it's worth because if i think it's worth fifteen hundred and the buyer thinks it's worth twelve hundred it's like well alright it's gonna be at auction and if you think it's worth twelve hundred bid twelve hundred dollars maybe you'll get it for cheaper or maybe i'm right you know it's just i don't know i think an auction we'd like to think an auction will always tell you an honest result that we know those can also be manipulated but still i just think letting it fly at the auction is the best and yeah i've never gone to any real lengths to pick up a card everything's pretty much been through mail but shout out brooklyn berry bright ben that was one that when i was living in new york we did a deal for some ladanian tomlinson cards and discovered we lived less than a mile apart and we just met up for some beers and some some card exchange and it was awesome so that that's when a in person or that's worth traveling lengths for i'm about to about to fly back to new york tomorrow just to hang out with ben and do it again so i love it i will say and this blows my mind and shout out to all of these people but as someone who is working on this and trying to manage and be a parent to three kids i think about i see the story sales and someone like doing a story sale okay so you you do a story sale of ten cards if there's interest there is going to be negotiation on each of those so those are messages on each of those ten cards so think about all that time and then you get bites in say like six year card sell well then you're responsible for then making six six packages making sure the cards are ready getting them all together and then you gotta go then make go to the trip to the post office or fedex to then send those cards out to way too much that's where we enter this phase for me where it's like this is not fun like this like this shout out to every company who has shipping team and shipping people that job is a tough job and it's time consuming and it just i'm not i'm not here for it so i i refuse stacking slabs is a lot of thing we're card collectors we're content machine we're media we're all those things but we are not a shipping shipping department and it will never be i can't stand the shipping of it all yeah like i have at times enjoyed that process though okay it's it's as i've like i feel like a kid changes a lot where like time is more valuable but yeah because i don't know i kinda sometimes i'm like oh it's like shipstation it's fun to like package up stuff but then as soon as i was doing it for this card the other day i was like oh i hate this this sucks my printer got jammed it was literally like all the things that are happening that could go wrong or going wrong but yeah and then i didn't get that like that card's hit in the mail today it's wednesday and we finished the deal on friday because i was like i didn't get there over the weekend and then you know monday and tuesday happened and oh and the post office by me closes at like four on monday which is too early you can't close at four i need to yeah anyways thanks for the question drake and then the final question from g t o swede who i looked at their profile and they are in sweden so shout out hell yeah the global audience of the football card pod if you're ever listening to the football card pod i mean just i know you are if you are listening to this but i love when people send pictures of them listening to the football card pod whether it's in the car on a road trip shoot this guy sent an awesome message to the football card pod insta i'll try to find it but it was basically a video of he sent a video of him talking about how he is currently in the middle of moving and he's been listening to the football card pod and it's been a one his highlight of his move is listening to the football card pod so that was awesome i can't find the message right now but shout out that person for listening to the football card pod wanna wanna say something on top of this i agree we're gonna do card call out at the end but special i think john can can i can we permit maybe a times five bonus on any card callouts shared this week where also at some point that individual takes a photo wherever they're at of the football card podcast it could be screenshot from their phone them driving them on a mountain hiking wherever you're at like you take a photo and you tag football card podcast wherever you're listening to it this week you're gonna get five times the points yep five x bonus points the that listener was packed to the future podcast shout out packed to the future great loyal listener always giving feedback also content creator go check out packed to the future but you know when you can just tell when you're talking with someone they really enjoy your content i every interaction i have so shout out pack to the future yes alright last question from g g o suite rank these things from the hobby and he's listed off five things that i think are disliked in the hobby so we have to kinda rank these bottom five things which are sticker autos patches without any connection to the player redemptions panini points and the amount of parallels in sets elaborate on this yeah let's do it how about we do the least is let's let's start from like the least egregious okay like what doesn't bother us the the most to me i had parallels the amount of parallels agreed because it's like doesn't really affect like the cards i still want the parallels i still want exist because of this so i can't hate it like it's just not it's whatever yeah when i look at the checklist and see that there's eighty parallels that that's not for me but i don't know it doesn't bother me that much it's it's the era we're in with breaking and mhmm it's if you're focused in on a certain parallel what's above you shouldn't really impact you that too too much at least that's how i think about it so i think we agree there okay so parallels one two i put panini points because i don't i don't ever encounter them like i'm not opening wax or i've never had panini points so it's like this doesn't bother me at all i can understand if you're ripping and you got panini points instead of a hit that that would be annoying but yeah i don't know and kit isn't panini points how people got pylons or that was those were just auctions those were sparkle white sparkle packs sparkle packs are and maybe the original kaboom packs oh yeah i think so i think you're right for twenty eighteen twenty eighteen yes for twenty eighteen the multisport multisport correct yeah yeah yeah did we just enter the kaboom room on that one kind of i think the door opened did you do you agree panini points at at two yeah yeah they they don't that little to no impact on me okay and then three i had redemptions yes we're tracking we're tracking yeah like an annoying thing to happen i understand why they exist but the worst is just redemptions not even it taking two years to fill the worst is in old products when you hit a redemption that's expired like that that's just a bummer if you buy like some old wax and you don't even get a hit out of it that would suck and then i had stickers and patches patches was my least favorite stickers i can tolerate more than patches that like the un the like this fabric is not from anything to me is like i and i think part of that is because i remember collecting when jersey cards became a thing and that was like the coolest thing ever to me that a player wore part of this jersey like it was such a like revolution of cards to me for it to now have gotten all the way to like this is nothing just feels it just makes me a little angry so i don't know i could see stickers patches getting flip flopped for most egregious though they they both suck and the reason why they both suck is you just think of the mass production i just think about like the sticker sheets you see of like athletes and there's these big sheets just signing and you're like this is such a volume thing and then you can visualize cutting up like the jerseys from you know dick's sporting goods and putting them in that sucks too i and maybe this is me because i'm not a patch guy and i know it's really offensive if you're you're a a game worn collector but my measuring test is this if i look at a unworn patch on a card with a on card auto the present before i like i have to look at the back of the card to really understand that if i don't have the product knowledge but just looking at the appearance on the front end i'm like oh that's a good looking card but if i see a sticker auto on any card it just makes me wanna throw up it's just so disruptive it like it is so disruptive to everything that's happening with the card that i as a collector i just i cannot get over it and furthermore even when when it's disguised in a way to make it look like it is that almost like pisses me off even more it's like they're trying to make this not even a thing couldn't you just get your ass over and get the athlete to to sign the cards like shit you lazy manufacturer like i know it's complicated but if you're gonna be promoting autographs and cards like give them to us on card damn it so yeah i hate the stickers man yeah agreed like it's the same thing of like the appeal used to be the player held this card and signed it like that was the mystique that an autograph added to a card and when it's a sticker that is fully shattered and i don't even trust that these manufacturers for the like this piece of memorabilia is not from any event i don't even trust that it was a full jersey that they cut up in my mind it's just they had strips of fabric and they like sewed three colors together and they're just hocking them off you know just chopping off chunks of it like it wasn't ever a full jersey they just know how to kinda make three color patches and all that but yeah i think we're pretty aligned on the the ranking there would you hobby job would you rather be in the shipping department of a company that ships a lot or would you rather be the individual at one of the manufacturers who are chopping up bits of jersey pieces all day every day what would you would rather do oh i'd rather chop up jerseys probably put on podcast they didn't know like make a card like that i don't know there's something something there versus just shipping yeah alright so what i'm gonna do here because this is the conclusion of our drive and it was fourth and goal from the eight and i went to our good old friend random dot org where you can make a random list and here are the outcomes i've put in tell me if i'm missing anything so touchdown is an outcome a pick six is an outcome a sack is an outcome or stop short mike jones in parentheses is an outcome anything else i think those are good alright we got twenty five percent chance of scoring here we go and then give me a number one to ten we're going to do let's do seven okay okay one two three four five six seven sack goddamn it damn it that's that's that's just dude we've been on this drive forever that is so demoralizing we've been on this drive for over a month it just didn't even get points should've taken what this means though it this means we need some passionate collectors next week to hit us with an influx of awesome collector questions give us questions that you wanna know next podcast we need to get back on track yeah yeah we need a a new drive the sack demoralizing just take the points they scream they're screaming alright let's keep it moving nfl check-in anything going on i don't really have anything here yeah not nothing much i'm just oh dog days right now dog days the one note i have is ben johnson frame mugged matt lafleur in the coaching picture that's he did that's all i got yeah the how about here's my question is did you see the the the day drinking from the coaches the jay glazer like video how does jay glazer get a seat at that table jay glazer has all the access somehow what was it he broke what was the news he broke did he break the luca trade i feel like i thought that was shams yeah there was something i don't know this is bad radio there was something that he broke that was big and i was like why is he the one telling me why am i hearing this from jay glaser but yeah no the coaches meet up that looks like so much fun i bet that's just a great great time do you hear sean payton got the bill no yeah i i rumor and innuendo said sean payton it's gotta be be a gamesmanship tactic at some level you can't trust sean payton no there's something going on yeah alright market watch should we get into some sale wow we're already at market watch shout out card ladder how about let's little little vintage football card talk let's jump into a nineteen thirty three sport kings jim thorpe football psa six selling on the ebay machine pop twenty nine in a psa six for sixteen thousand one hundred and sixty one dollars the image is just so cool i love it how it says sportkings gum at the top you've got the the shadow football players playing at the bottom i mean this is a cool looking football card and just to think that an icon like jim thorpe sport king's obviously a release gum release across multiple sports very popular yeah man this card rules yeah cardladder has the psa nine valued at one point three million dollars pop four pop four i wanna see that card sell i don't think it's sold in a long time but yeah we need million dollar cards so whoever's got the thorpe psa nine it hasn't sold since twenty twenty looks like it's sold in twenty twenty and twenty sixteen are the two sales a hundred and thirty eight thousand in july of twenty twenty so let's get that nine up for sale this six is awesome though that looks like a good copy to me vintage i just want something that's like centered and yeah you know that looks like a pretty clean six with a new new cert too is it possible like is it possible for someone to walk in a copy of this jim thorpe thirty three sport kings in twenty twenty six two psa get it graded and it come back at ten like is that even there's not one is it possible to happen you think it's gotta be mean you'd like to think that if the copy is pristine i just don't know how you wouldn't if it is write it or i i mean i guess they there are ways to authenticate it but to me if like a perfect ten looking copy came in i'd just assume it's fake right but like there's no there's no way like if it's this perfect and shows no signs of aging like props to grading companies for being able to figure that out but i don't know because wasn't there the oh the chamberlain just upgraded in s g c ten didn't it get bumped down when it moved didn't it get moved over to a p s i think that's a different okay there's like s g ten wilt that there's no way raw yeah or i don't psa downgraded a psa ten to a psa nine okay that's not the s g c ten still exists yeah and i think it's still s g c yeah i mean i'd love to see more yeah i wanna see more of these hit auctions only two of them have sold in the last ten years let's get the thorpe's out alright we're going defense we've got a twenty nineteen black finite rookie nick bosa and a bgs ten selling at auction mc monday thirteen thousand six hundred and seventy seven dollars cool looking rookie card of nick bosa this instantly like the football card podcast archive just immediately i just started like filing back to previous episodes and i was like wait a minute the brian burns just sold and they're in the same class it sold for much less than the nick bosa so it caused me to investigate the stats of it all of course mhmm so check this out nick bosa a hundred and ninety two tackles eighty six assists sixty four and a half sacks five fumble recoveries two interceptions and eighty five career games really strong stats his finite sold for thirteen thousand brian burns two hundred and thirty two tackles more tackles a hundred and fifty two assists way more assists seventy one sacks more sacks what two three fumble recoveries two less two fumble recoveries in his finite and a nine sold for two thousand three hundred and fifty dollars so you could argue brian burns is the better player and had a better career and his rookie finite in the same year one the bows is in a b g s ten the the burns is in a p s a nine selling for a fraction of it you can get into the niners team collector of it there's a lot of different angles and i know i'm not stats mean more value like the cards more like i'm not a believer in that but i just thought the discrepancy especially since these two cards literally the the burn sold in february these cards sold right next to each other and that gap between those two sales is just insane to me that is crazy so reasons off the top of my head one is like burns changing teams is already part of it like he's had his best season came on the giants he's in panther's practice gear on the card and then just like boso won a defensive player of the year mhmm i feel like that like the highest high yeah he won a defensive rookie of the year and then in twenty twenty two first team all pro defensive player of the year eighteen and a half sacks for the forty niners who were like contenders all through i just feel like nick bosa is more high profile even if his stats are less than burns but and i think the bossa card looks cooler just in his full gear cool picture but the the the gap is crazy i mean like six x seven x the brian burns when yeah to your point burns has put together the more complete career that's another thing bosa has two like in twenty twenty he only played two games in twenty twenty five he only played three games so he has all those stats in basically two less seasons like the comparable numbers so that's interesting though that's very good good digging good pro fall pro football reference research yeah i good points by you i think brian burns is the best player that few people talk about in the nfl he's just an excellent pass rusher i i wish he was on my team he had sixteen and a half sacks last year yeah he was a side of the building guy in carolina you know they got rid of him as they were blowing up everything but he's been a a hell of a pro again i see that sale two thousand three hundred and fifty dollars like he's one of the best pass rushers of this era like this to me when i think of biggest steals of in football cards this year i someone's gonna have to knock this one off the mountain because i'm this card was listed high on ebay and i'd always see it and be like that is a great card and it had to make an offer and i was always too scared to make an offer i was like there's no way i'm gonna get it you know it's just too intimidating and then i saw when i saw it selling for twenty three hundred dollars i was like damn it i i could like i could've played in that hemisphere but yeah yeah awesome card alright we move over to the twenty eighteen josh allen silver prism psa ten which is a pop twenty seven i believe this this is the year where the silvers were less printed i think there were two silvers is it per box yeah per box think it's one per box i don't know we might be making stuff up but we're probably making stuff up but needless to say i find it interesting where a josh allen is this card sold for ten thousand one hundred dollars which at its height it sold for fifteen k but what's crazy about this is the fact that it's the off we are in the bowels of the off season this card's selling for ten thousand dollars and it leads me to believe like where i'm at now and i've shared this on the podcast i love watching josh allen one of my favorite players to watch i think he's great i'm always rooting for him if he's not playing against my team but where are we at with josh allen now like he has surpassed the the amount of time it took for peyton manning to win his first and so he is officially in this like dan marino category of like well he didn't even get to a super bowl yet but like it's like this guy is so good will he ever get to the game so or and there's all this doubt if it'll ever happen now i think especially after last year when it felt like this is the year to do it so how does this impact his cards and collecting like what what are your thought we haven't talked about josh allen cards and collecting on the other side i think but yeah what do you think the vibe is gonna be for his cards going into this season yeah it's he's an interesting case i still think he's will always be more collected like he's in a better position than a justin herbert like allen has had has the mvp he's had playoff runs that like the losses aren't on him you know what i mean like that chiefs game with like he scores a touchdown with thirteen seconds left and the defense lets them go kicker like i feel like allen missing out in the playoffs it never felt like he was he like put up the stinker that made them lose i can't remember what happened to him this year in the play it wasn't i feel like it wasn't great but it wasn't like egregious yeah i don't know he he just seems more likable like the way he plays like i still like josh allen and i'm rooting for him but to your point he is starting to enter the like will it ever happen territory but again like how old is josh allen he's gotta be just over thirty maybe like he's he's got so much time where yeah he's twenty nine years old what what does it what does adding dj moore do to him i mean you watch dj moore like knowing what you know about dj moore knowing what you know about josh allen like what do you obvious yeah what do you see about that connection i think that adds a stronger number one the best receiver he's had since stefon diggs and so like those diggs years were some successful years so hopefully that i love dj moore so i'm hoping wishing him success i don't know it's just like we always say only one team can win it all and so even if they put together a fourteen and three season and are awesome it's so easy to just lose in the playoffs just have one bad game one one thing goes wrong and your whole legacy is defined by that and then you get people with football card pods talking shit about you for not winning a playoff game i don't know i i still think he's like i don't think he will be nearly as hyped like at the national when you're thinking of like quarterbacks with the most hype on them i don't think allen's really in that like top five anymore the way it used to always be like mhmm lamar allen mahomes burrow it feels like that was like the group for a long time and i think now there's just like there's more of a shake up there like he's the him winning as many super bowls as tom brady is kinda out the window like you have to have a couple by the time you're thirty to even like him being one of the all time greats is like a harder claim when you're seven eight years into your career without a super bowl so i don't know i'm rooting for him and i think these are awesome cards the fact that they're so scarce only twenty seven of the silvers in a psa ten was this the all time high for this card no fifteen thousand fifteen was yeah fifteen in feb sixteenth of twenty twenty four it's interesting looking at this card and thinking about twenty eighteen with him and lamar and the guy who's got the super bowl sam darrell yeah i don't know i i would love to see him win it all i think you know that would just be a such a cool story for the bills and bills fans but me wishing that also means me wishing a bears postseason loss which to me the window is open for the bears so i don't i don't i don't want josh allen to win at all anymore at this point it's caleb or bust that's it's good min mindset mentality to have as a rabid fan we move over to big benjamin roethlisberger and his twenty twelve prism gold and a bgs nine five sold at auction for thirteen thousand eight hundred dollars just a monster price for this the last time this card sold was april twenty two for four thousand one hundred so the come up on the twelves are just insane but yeah big ben man this card is a cool looking card with the color match and everything but one of the best winners of this era cool card monster sale i i was watching this and i forgot to look at the final price so seeing this is cool yeah twenty twelve gold what's what's my j color gold worth now what's this it must feel good having a whole gold team set when you see sales like this again this just makes me know that i'm never gonna be able to get like a devin hester or a matt forte i just feel like the dude if the devin hester was at auction right now it would i think it would sell more than the big ben i no i'm pretty sure it's there's one on ebay i know oh there is there was someone trying to sell one mark sweat forty seven maybe he was just trying to sell it privately i don't know i don't know if i'm broadcasting privately or his cover i don't know sorry mark if that's wrong i could totally be incorrect but yeah no based on this sale i feel like if a hester and that's another reason send your cards to auction because i feel like let them run when you're shopping the card that like doesn't have the recent comp it's just so much harder to agree on something because the buyer is gonna you know look at whatever that last sale is and kinda dig in there and as a seller you're seeing how the rest of the market's moving in other sales and yeah i i think just send it to auction watch watch the show watch the show get the popcorn out we move over to a card that hasn't sold in a while that is the theme the last time this card sold was may twenty twenty three for forty two hundred dollars and that was a psa eight this is a psa seven the ninety nine mental universe pmg of your favorite player brett favre sold for eleven thousand seven hundred dollars again the time between sales is the the main theme here if you've got these cards that people desire you gotta wait if you wanna sell them wait a little bit you're gonna be rewarded so i thought when i saw that sale in a psa seven i thought wow that's a big sale and then i just look at the card and you know whether you like favre or not like i don't know this card looks awesome to me i'm like this card is special so yeah big sale for brett favre card yeah that that card is awesome separate the art from the artist player from the player his like this is peak three mvp far form like that jersey ninety nine i mean these pmgs are awesome this the the ninety nine pmg set i mean is growing on me more and more just we had that we had that barry sanders on recently like just how vivid the colors look on on that background that just really these are awesome the guys are up i love the up close and personal nature of the guys i want them to be as close to me as possible when i'm holding the card and they're just right at the forefront this yeah this has twenty fourteen prism yes it does so we move over to a pmg but a different year to close this out ninety eight metal universe the bus jerome bettis his pmg and a psa eight selling for eighty four hundred dollars with the bus behind him and the scope this this card is about as cool and it's i look at jerome bettis in this card and it's just like that is peak prime steelers jerome but you could tell by his stature he's got a little more weight up top he's just like who's tackling this guy that's i've i don't think i've ever seen this because i i love that the bus is in the background here yeah and then i just i don't think i ever pieced together how much like question did gerald butters have the nickname the bus in college when did the bus nickname oh that's a great you think i know this as a notre dame fan i was so young that like right rick meyer and him it was like prime like me growing up in childhood that's a great question the origin of the bus nickname if it's possible because i'm just thinking the steelers colors i mean are just school bus colors like he's mhmm he's just really looking bus like in there i've never thought about that dude same until i literally took him being overlaid over a bus for me to kinda piece that together but that's why i'm wondering like did that a did it come about early on which then means him landing on the steelers in school bus colors is just the perfect final destination we should have known that the second he went to that team he was gonna be an all time great or did he did it happen at the steelers so if anyone knows the providence okay knows i got it i got it i got it yeah he it was at notre dame so he during roughly nineteen to ninety two it was coined by a student newspaper reporter who noted that bus ran or bettis ran like a bus taking defenders for a ride oh so shout out to that journalist student journalist at the university of notre dame the great university of notre dame can you imagine being that person like years later like every time jerome bettis is on tv or whatever you're like i'm the one who gave him his nickname wow that's awesome and then yeah that makes it even better that the second he got traded to the steelers we should've everyone should've known this is the guy with the nickname of the bus now looks like a literal school bus out there he's gonna terrorize the league i love jerome bettis yeah that's awesome alright collecting updates card call out and we'll get out of here collecting updates what are the current collecting projects that you're focusing your resources on brett any any pickups yeah i i put this out there just on the story i'll do a formal post when i get the card in hand but i just got crazy and and and bought the tyler warren gold prism psa nine it got popped up and i said i'm gonna need this card eventually i just bought the gold vinyl raw and let me see if i can do a little negotiating and then after i landed the card i was like oh my god i've spent spent an awful lot on tyler warren cards this year but he's freaking incredible like watching this guy play barreling over people being such a central point i felt so much confidence because it fits not only within my collection perfectly but he's a a player that i think just has just such a bright future so i felt really good about that excited to get that in hand one more purchase i was going to bed two nights ago doing a quick ebay check and i saw the twenty twenty one deforest buckner gold prism in my safe searches and instantly i go i'm missing this card i have the finite i have the gold vinyl i did not have the gold it was ninety nine dollars obo i smashed ben instantly and i just everyone was asleep i just wanted to do a backflip come to find out gb gold ten was the seller okay so this good brother shout out gb gold ten sends me a dm the next morning and it's like hey dude and he like gives me this whole story he's like i gotta tell you like since it's going to you i just want you to have it back at the cost that i bought it for i go to my ebay he has sent me a partial refund on ebay for wow so i got a i bought the card and got a discount because gb gold ten is a good brother and knew it was was going to a right home so this is the second time we've elevated gb gold ten but just this is what collecting in a community of people like i will happily like go do business with gb gold ten like this these are the types of people i wanna promote but not only did i land the card which i would've if it said two hundred obo i would've smashed bed because i needed the card but then to get a refund just such a such a cool story i love it wow shout out g b goal ten friend of the pod just helping helping the boys out proving that maybe not all packers fans are just scummy evil people that there can be there's some good people out there an interest interesting theory that gb gold is kind of starting to put together a case for we'll see if it holds up that's awesome what about you what do you got no pickups over the past week but i do have an update on the lance briggs gold prism case which oh okay gb gold ten played a role in in which he got me another copy of the card after my original copy was stolen we talked about this last week on the episode it was kind of just breaking when we recorded last wednesday because last tuesday night is when i was like putting up instagram stories of the card had popped up on ebay which opened up the cold case and have some updates since then so if you remember tuesday night the lance briggs card that i bought on ebay in early february that got stolen out of the mail showed up on ebay again and i dm'd the seller i'm like hey this card was stolen just wanna let you know and like where'd you get it and he said he got it from aa mint cards and he sent a screenshot of them giving him or like selling the card or giving the card away in a whatnot stream and it was the lance briggs gold prism in a little one touch with their logo on it and he was like i'll send you the card for free like you know like it should be yours which is a kind gesture and we actually worked out a deal where i got it for twenty five bucks which is what i originally paid for the card the first time because i didn't want him to get screwed because he got a stolen card here's some money so card is on its way to me as of recording this on wednesday and this so then tuesday night i tagged a a meant cards in my story and i was like you're on the clock where'd you get this card just kinda like a playful like hey i'm working this case in real time this is where my lead is taking me where'd you get the card they didn't respond and they like watched the story and then i saw that they looked through all my other stories so they they know what's going on so the next day i messaged and i was like hey there i was wondering if you could please tell me where you got the twenty twenty five lance briggs gold prism that you had on this stream that card was stolen in transit after i purchased it on ebay back in february please let me know where you got it thanks john pretty cordial mess message in my opinion like where'd you get this card it was stolen from me just trying to figure it out they don't respond but they read the messages and then they're like looking at my stories again like i can see all this like i'm pretty tech savvy and i'm like okay that that's annoying that they're reading this and not responding so the next day again it's been i've reached out to them twice no response the third time i reach out i go hey i would love to get an answer here i'm trying to keep it cordial and stay in the dms but i can make this a more public thing if i have to i just want to know where you got this lance briggs cards thanks john so now that that's a piece of it is me saying i can make it a more public thing if i have to because that could be perceived as a threat which they have taken it as a threat which we we find out here later which is a little dramatic but i'll continue they finally reply a couple days later and they say hey john bobby here i'm just on the social media side here but our repack team buys across the country at all different shows all the time it's totally possible that whoever stole it from you ended up selling us the card we buy in bulk thousands of cards there's no way for me to know exactly who we had purchased that exact card from hope this answer helps and i'm like okay let's try and figure it out this is the message i send back surely there's a way to find out where you got this card and what order it came in even if it was a bulk order there has to be some information there and from there we can find that seller all i'm trying to do is find out who stole the card and currently the trail ends with you saying we don't know where it came from if you can just provide me that information i'll be on my way otherwise i have to assume it's your company again i'm not trying to be a dick here i'm just trying to find information of like where where the card came from now brett i'll i'll stop here and i just wanna ask you like is this reasonable for me to like be pushing them to try and figure this out or should i just drop it because it was a twenty five dollar card this hobby is rampant and it is it is full of bad guys taking advantage of people trying to steal your stuff steal your money commit fraud there's no regulation in this industry we need to hold each other accountable for what's happening whether it's peer to peer collector to collector collector to business business to collector we should all be having these conversations and encourage these conversations when bad stuff happens so if we're not trying to help each other out then what we're doing is allowing the bad guys to continue to be bad guys so in my opinion it is completely okay to be investigating it is completely okay to be asking questions you're asking questions seeking information so you can shut down the bad guy now when someone is blocking or obstructing you from getting the information you need in order to catch the bad guy i think that's where you put up the red flag and i think that's where we're at right now with this story yes thank you that's all i'm trying to do find out information and they're telling me no and after i sent that last message they said they doubled down they go hi john i understand why you're trying to track this down and i'm happy to clarify on our end we purchase large bulk lots of cards from a wide range of sellers at shows and through other channels and online marketplaces often in quantities of thousands at a time because of that volume we don't have item level sourcing records that would allow us to track down a specific card back to an individual seller i understand this is frustrating and i hope you're able to track down the source and then that's what made me mad when they go i hope you can track down the source i'm like you are the source you're the current source right now fuck you mean hope you track down the source you are the source where are you going without help from them at this point all sources would lead back to you you have the card in a one touch with your logo on it and so that's where i come back and i reply i understand you deal with a large volume of cards but at some point someone pulled that card out of a package and put it into a one touch with your logo on it so i would start by figuring out who received the card and work from there it just requires a little effort otherwise you clearly don't care that you're selling stolen goods what if that seller had other stolen cards in that order wouldn't you want to try and figure that out like as a business if you're out there selling stolen cards like are aa mint cards is selling stolen cards and they're out there saying like well stolen we can't do anything about it like to me that shows me that they're like if you sell if you steal a card send it to aa mint cards and they'll sell it for you like they'll wash you know they're they're protecting a thief right now is what they're doing by not divulging any information they replied with and this is where it gets real annoying they go of course we would please submit the police report that you file for the stolen card so we can review it and take action thank you and then they double replied and said the way you've approached this by threatening us about a card on instagram is absolutely ridiculous do you really think that this is the correct tack to take to try to get our help how about talk about it on a podcast instead yeah because the only thread i made i said was posting about this publicly because all my private dms were being read and ignored like that's literally the only threat that has come about is i went three days messaging you nicely trying to get a response and you ignored me and so i finally said like i can make this public which i am and i'm ready to continue making public but that but that's just annoying like rather than review it internally or make any sort of effort internally they're telling me to go to the police it's like did you go to the police i did go to the police because i was mad brett and i had time but as one might imagine the police don't care about a twenty five dollar sports card so i i look up where their hobby store is they're based out of florida and so i look up like okay hollywood florida police department and then i looked up exactly where their store was and i found like a local sheriff's department that's a little closer so i like and they have a like nonemergency hotline and i'm well aware as i'm doing this i'm like this is ridiculous like a i don't wanna be doing this like we call the homies not nine eleven i'm not i don't want to be going to the cops i'm not a snitch i am this is not who i am they're pushing me to this point this is they are the ones that said go file a police report and so i'm like alright i will act on your best wishes can't get ahold of anyone at that police department i call the like nonemergency hotline tip and it just i also am a person i hate like calling customer service lines like it is it truly truly pisses me off and this like the police department i'm sure is set up to filter out anything that's not an emergency and like they they don't wanna hear this and they made that clear as i'm listening through the menu and it's like there's just endless op like i couldn't get through to anyone to actually talk i like moved from that police department to then the hollywood police department i was like alright this is a bigger bigger unit maybe they're set up to to handle some of this and i got to a voice mail there where i was able to leave a voice mail but that's where i ended like the and to me i'm like i was already like getting like less mad about it i was like this is ridiculous like i don't wanna be going to the police like aa mint cards should be trying to figure this out internally on their own just like ask around someone in your business knows where that card came from even if it's just like we got it from a show like we got it from this local show and a lot of a thousand cards we don't know who the seller is tell me that they could've lied to me just lie to me and say we're looking into it the fact that they didn't even do that that they just said we can't do it like we can't track it is what pissed me off like you could if if this was a thousand dollar card would you be treated differently is it just because it's a twenty five dollar card it's okay to steal cards that are twenty five dollars is that the message you're saying so i reached back out and i just said hey i'm working on filing this police report and i just wanna make sure that's the route you want me to take this is the information i'm giving the police february third i purchased the card on ebay february ninth the package arrives at my house empty i file a missing item report with ebay march sixteenth aa mint cards has possession of the card on a whatnot stream aa mint cards doesn't know how they got the card because they don't have item level sourcing i said does everything there look accurate to you and they just reply what was the value of the card sir hit me with a little sir action i said twenty five dollars like that's the value actually there's an eighty dollar comp out there so one could argue that maybe there's a eighty it's a eighty dollar card but it's a twenty five dollar card they never read it or they never they read it they never responded i left it there because i was like whatever these guys are jokes they're cowards they're clowns but that's that's the current update of the briggs gold prism saga the briggs bandit the card is on its way to me that's the happy resolution here is that i'm getting the card that i originally purchased a copy a copy well i'm getting the exact one because oh the exact one okay you're yeah from that seller but and then i have a second copy from gb gold ten shout out gb gold ten but as far as who the initial thief was who cut that package open the case goes cold with aa mint cards because they get too many cards brett they can't they're getting too many i'm picturing that meme of the girl where all the hot dogs are hitting her face she's like i don't i can't handle it it's like that's that's aa mint cards getting all these cards how we just get so many gold prisms we don't know where they come from i mean we can't track them so losers so so here's my my feedback here is i actually have a question back to you how much do you wanna make a bet that my jonathan taylor goldvine is going through the repack process of it all like oh this this is not a this is this has got to be like there is an uptick in packages being ripped open for at usps and cards going missing like this is a case study if you're a bad guy listening to this of like oh i can just then take it to a show and and sell it to some repack which is absolute bullshit like that and the fact that that we're not even creating infrastructure around the process to for repack buying when a issue comes up to help solve the issues is bullshit like repackers like repackers like serve some sort of purpose in this hobby that some segment of people really like then you've got another group of people that look at it and be like this is absurd like this is ridiculous and you've got all these things happening and you just people buying cars and people buying stolen goods and no one giving a shit about it i think like this these are the moments in the hobby that i think like we've got to say something and hopefully by sharing your story and saying something it helps it might not help you it might not help me with my jonathan taylor but hopefully it helps somebody to just be aware that this type of activity is happening probably all across the nation specifically by individuals who know that they can just offload cards to companies that are doing repacks like it's it's nuts man if your jt card shows up on a aa mintz stream we're going to florida don't get me started man don't get to florida and also like yeah just the whole the way they dismissed it without offering any sort of accountability or a again not not at all saying sorry about this we'll look into it and just saying we don't know because we don't track that shit it's like well maybe you should track it maybe like what do you mean you don't track the cards you're buying and selling shouldn't you do that for tax purposes aren't there some gains happening there aren't there transactions going on like does uncle sam know that you don't track any of your inventory and that you're then selling or or just in my like the gut check here them just like like hitting a wall with them it's like they know something the the seller on ebay who got it from them i asked them where they got it he's saying like a bird he's like hey aam cards told me right away because he knows he's like i'm i'm not guilty at all i didn't do anything wrong i got it from a stream here's a screenshot this is who it was boom i go to a a mint cards hey where'd you get the card don't know can't figure it out it's like alright buddy alright sir so i mean yeah cowards and losers over at aa mint cards that's all i gotta say about that i love a red assed pack closing up this episode very very strong do you have a card call out for us this week yeah i do let's see their twenty five dollar cards because some people in the hobby just don't care about twenty five dollar cards or twenty five dollar cards don't matter to them you can steal them if you want you can sell them if you want doesn't matter if it's twenty five dollars you can do whatever the hell you so i wanna see the twenty five dollar cards out there that collectors care about send a screenshot of your card tag the football card pod on the story we'll reshare it also if you add in a screenshot of the purchase price and closer to twenty five dollars the more points you'll get so if you've been to card at exactly twenty five dollars you get some bonus points if you got one for twenty four fifty you know you're close bonus points i don't know if it should include shipping i kinda think it's card price that we're looking at price for sure card price that we're looking at so i wanna see those twenty five dollar cards and yeah listen to the football card pod follow the football card pod on instagram i'm
