The Football Card Podcast #39: Let’s Talk About That $162K 2002 Finest Tom Brady Gold Refractor

hello and welcome to the football card podcast this is it this is the fastest growing the longest running the most popular football card podcast in the entire world that's centered on football cards and most importantly football cards i'm your host john aka pat nicholson and with me as always is brett mister stacking slabs himself brett how are doing i'm well i'm more concerned about how you're doing especially after last week's episode you know you put up a we we put up this clip from last week's episode regarding football card collectors and how no one collects any of the other sports like basketball and baseball and how football cards are the only thing people actually collect and i have had a lot of fun digging back into the comments there i would imagine you hopefully you have been safe and sound you've got the security system in place at your house and you've got you know detail sure none of these basketball card or baseball card collectors come at you that was it's been a fun social experiment ever since that was dropped and i wanna highlight as i was this morning digging through the comments again i wanna highlight my favorite comment from the post and the post or the comment was from collector hip hip jorje ninety one and jorge said one of the worst takes i've seen on this app so so there was a lot of that it was very entertaining so i've been thinking about that reel ever since it was dropped and just wanna make sure you're doing okay over there oh yeah we're fine people lighten up people people they took the bait they took the bait that's all i'll say no but then yes that the comment was said in jest little tongue in cheek if you were a listener of the pod i'm sure you understood if you're just a just happened upon that i can see how you could maybe no i can't see how you'd be offended it's just a stupid reel on instagram get over it but something that surprised me is like yes the like response from people or like the teapot response was cracking me up where he said happens in all three but baseball has the most quote pure collectors of the three and i'm like what's a pure collector and how is it baseball because isn't baseball just built on prospecting i feel like literally the most of baseball collectors are prospecting which is like flipping gambling whatever you wanna call it it's not to me that's not a pure collecting form if if you i'm even trying to label something more pure than not but i don't know it's just the whole thing is funny people take it whatever way they want but i by no means after that am like oh yeah baseball and basketball has the most collectors and i still don't think just because multimillionaires and hedge funds are buying basketball cards means there's more basketball collectors it's you'll you'll never convince me that more people collect those than football so there's a little extendo to the take yeah and i think one of the things that i picked up on from this social experiment and i think where there's a lot of rub is when collectors speak in absolutes and like the the pure collector comment or or the nobody collects football cards like the the apps absolutes that get spoken another one is like no way football cards you know can ever reach this level because there's no international collectors like is is are is are we going out there to the world and canvince can going door to door do you collect football cards no so we can just determine there's no international collectors that that take i know like it's not like basketball where you know asia has this big market but just to say that there's no international collectors just that doesn't seem quite right so i've been entertained by all of this and i think it's good because if i'm entertained by this then hopefully other people are and that's why we're just trying to have some fun here on the football card podcast that's why we're here yeah and again i i will just wager to say someone spending a million dollars on a card is more often than not doing it because of a financial reason and not because they're a collector like the common person doesn't have a million dollars to spend on a sports card so yeah i just think it's if you looked at who the buyer is for all these cards more often than not i bet it's some sort of investment group maybe or i don't know or yeah just super rich people who are buying these cards because they're being told this is a safe store of money or this is an alternative asset like mister wonderful is just on tv talking about how like he's putting ten percent of his portfolio into this as a it's art and you know that's all ways to say this is a safe and sound investment which is again like that's not collecting that's so yeah i think the let like as soon as you have a million dollar sale it's not a collector so i would go far to say there are the most football collectors because we're who's got the most like you know fifty to a hundred dollar transactions show me that data i bet football's at the top i because it's all these people collecting football cards i i love it i i'm i'm i'm in i'm wondering if the the logan paul to mister wonderful like wear it around your neck diamond studded if this is going to be a trend at all in this this hobby i don't know it just the the the way the card is just dangling from the neck i can't tell if it's like like like legitimate like we're or we're just trying to be a character with a card around the neck like that's i just can't decipher that quite at this point but it gets attention people talk about it and maybe that's the primary objective but i'll tell you this if i had a twelve million dollar card or according to the shine index or whatever it's called it's probably a fifty million dollar card at this point you're not gonna see me wearing it around my neck i mean have you seen i i can't one of the what's his name the who since we've been talking influencers jack dougherty that kid you know that guy oh yes yeah influencer whatever like very controversial like i've seen videos with him like just you know him getting set up and just people just ripping his chain off of his neck and it's like somebody at that whatever gala or oscars or whatever the hell it was mister wonderful was at somebody could've just went up to him and just yanked that and run run and i'm sure you might have some detail but if you get the right criminal in there then that that fifty million dollar card is long gone so that's yeah i i don't know about the the the chain around the neck it's just that not my thing no it just looks dumb it's a car it's a sports car it's meant to be just in a binder or on a maybe alright if it's not in a binder it's in a a little holder on a case somewhere but it's not meant to be but like the reason they're doing that is just to get exposure to pump the value like that's literally the reason is to build awareness around this card if you walk around with card and are on national television saying card is worth x amount it kind of might become true at some point like there's that's probably the rationale here is the more exposure this card gets when we decide to sell it in a few years we can you know make a nice return but whatever to e to each their own like they're just more you know they're more seasoned collectors than i am they're just the diehard basketball collectors up there with their million dollar cards i can't can't compare of course they are alright episode thirty nine should we get into it let's go episode thirty nine would not be possible though without our wonderful sponsors at cardladder the only ones shout out cardladder the only ones the official data provider of the football card podcast and the broader stacking slabs network safe searches man i've been creating a lot of safe searches recently and using that as a tool to identify cards and i'll tell you this i love the saved search feature i've shrink to see dig in look at what's been selling the problem with the saved search feature is that i realized what cards i missed like you know the the two pm card that i didn't even see and someone else saw and it got been smashed that's the only problem but it it makes you hungrier so i think that's a great feature shout out cardlyer for supporting us you all listening should go support them wait how do you do a saved search on cardlyer oh yeah you just you you there's this little you you type in in sales history type in your subject and then there's this like little disc i think icon you just hit oh and then you can name the saved search and then you have wow drop down and you've just got your drop down of saved searches that's how it goes it's awesome wow that is game changing because i just i'm old fashioned i'm a manual i just go in there like once a week and i'll be like did anything sell from certain you know sets or players and filters but okay game changer shout out to cardladder always innovating i might or might not have done this where you see a card sell and you don't have the data of the buyer however you have the data of the seller so you can then go back to the seller and see if you can get information on where that card landed so if it's a card you're really chasing you know you see these posts all the time i saw like two or three this morning on instagram where someone says god i wish i could remember who the account was but i i saw that the i think it was the god what year was it twenty maybe it was the rookie i don't know if it was twenty eighteen or twenty nineteen but josh rosen black finite just sold and someone like posted it and was like does anyone know did did any did you buy this card essentially meaning like i want this card and maybe it's because we're in a josh rosen era here in foot the football card market but you see that all the time right like a shit card sold like who knows the information well you you can use the safe search and maybe kinda do the work yourself and i can't guarantee you're gonna get anything but it's worth a shot if you really want the card wow yeah kinda was that a steal on the josh rose and finite twenty three i think twenty three hundred compared to the green kaboom for twenty six thousand was it was it his rookie is that can we yeah it was his rookie i mean this is where we're at can one can one steal a josh rosen card can you get a steal on a josh rosen card is it or is every josh rosen card overpriced you know i think obviously like the finite will will always be a premier parallel and i don't think josh rosen maybe not for the best reasons will ever be forgotten especially in that group of quarterbacks so i i know like this sounds crazy to say like twenty three hundred is you know a steal but it kinda fee it it kinda could feel that i mean i if you told me that card sold i would say two k minimum you know just knowing finites and how weird some collectors are so definitely in comparison to the green kaboom i would say it's it's quite the steal twenty eighteen finites are sick too yes that's that's a good design alright let's get into some numbers thirty nine hall of famers larry zonka hugh mcilhenny and clark hinkle were the the big three and clark hinkle though i don't think think his number changed but what what thirty nines jumped out to you brett the first one that came to my mind was willie parker mhmm pittsburgh steelers legend and i went down the rabbit hole on willie parker mostly because he felt like he just had like this moment and then he's one of those players that the broader football card collecting community just never talks about like i never see any willie parker cards so i was digging in so first of all thirty two players in are in the pittsburgh steelers hall of fame you think about the pittsburgh steelers legendary franchise they've had so many hall of famers great players over the years and willie parker is one of them so i think that says something like mhmm he contributed enough during his time there to make that group of thirty two fast willie a great nickname so he's a pittsburgh steeler from two thousand and four to two thousand and nine five thousand three hundred and seventy eight yards on the ground twenty four touchdowns two time super bowl champion the owner of the longest run-in super bowl history and this was the super bowl against seattle i actually went back and watched the run dude alan faneka on a pole just it it is just so so sick such a sick play and he just if you if you wanted to know like why is he called fast willie you just go back and and look at that play seventy five yard burner it was just so sick and then obviously known as a pittsburgh steeler but he did make his way to washington in two thousand ten and ended up getting cut in training camp but but listen to this prospect the if he didn't get cut the the running back room in washington in twenty ten would have been clinton portis larry johnson and willie parker so so that that was intriguing to me and so i went back and his cards sell for nothing and i just went back and tried to find the coolest card i could find for the for the cheapest amount and we've got his playoff national treasures shield one of one and this card sold for two hundred and fifty six dollars in april of twenty twenty three so yeah willie parker might be a steelers legend but his cards are pretty pretty inexpensive at this point so shout out willie parker shout out willie parker and yeah not only wasn't like he just kinda was a flash in the pan either he had three really really good seasons in pit pittsburgh and was like a big piece of those two super bowl titles in the o five title he ran for two hundred and twenty five total yards and a touchdown over the playoff games and then in o eight he ran for led the playoffs with two hundred and forty six rushing yards in in three total games and two touchdowns like kinda took the baton from jerome bettis and just was like right away a good running back in two thousand six he had seventeen hundred scrimmage yards sixteen touchdowns made a pro bowl and then two thousand seven fourteen hundred scrimmage yards made a pro bowl so yeah it was more than just like kind of a a one season wonder he put together quite the resume in a short amount of time so yeah shout out willie who's on your list so steven jackson was the first one that came to mind i mean all around beast steven jackson another one who he took the baton from marshall faulk in saint louis and became the guy pretty instantly in two thousand six he ran for fifteen hundred yards and was caught another eight hundred yards he had twenty he had two thousand three hundred and thirty four total scrimmage yards and sixteen touchdowns in two thousand six it's one of the highest scrimmage yard seasons of all time which got me looking at that list where one player has ever crossed twenty five hundred yards that's chris johnson with two thousand five hundred nine that's the record marshall falk is the only player to break twenty four hundred yards he did two thousand four hundred and twenty nine in nineteen ninety nine and then you have about ten guys who've broken twenty three hundred with names like ladanian tomlinson barry sanders marcus allen adrian peterson christian mccaffrey tiki barber steven jackson and edron james is on that list with twenty three zero three in two thousand so all that to say i love looking at that leaderboard it's rare air to get above two thousand yard scrimmage let alone twenty three hundred and steven jackson is you know he's up there with some legends i remember steven jackson getting drafted and i can distinctly remember watching the draft he was a first round draft pick twenty fourth overall and i remember like the analysis and commentators at that time were talking about just like how this guy was just going to like be a stalwart as a running back in the league for quite some time which he did and just mhmm big bruising back and they just don't really build them like steven jackson anymore so i think he you know he is one of those players as you're talking through him that talking about him that i feel like is revived in my mind based on cards mhmm there are several collectors in this space who have really cool steven jackson cards and i don't know if like someone was like a steven jackson super collector at one point and then decided to just let everything go but you know finite super fractures like i've seen a lot of those cards hit the market and then you know collectors gobbling them up and you know at the time of those sales they were you know it wasn't like it was now where you know you'd probably have to pay a couple thousand dollars for any of those cards so that's what's fun about football cards it's like a player that great that does kinda gets overlooked there are be based on you know you a team that had moved and then his atlanta run's kinda forgettable so yeah i think that's fun when a player gets revived in your mind based on people just posting their cards yeah and steven jackson finished his career with over fifteen thousand scrimmage yards seventy eight touchdowns that's crazy that's an awesome career which also got me looking at other thirty nines larry zonka a name i've heard and you know part of the seventy two dolphins he's in the hall of fame larry zonka's stats kinda underwhelming i know it's a different era but larry zonka in nineteen seventy one when he was first team all pro ran for a thousand and fifty one yards and then in seventy three when he was all pro first team all pro again he ran for a thousand and three yards i'm like what what are these guys doing and this is an era in like fourteen game seasons oj ran for two thousand yards in fourteen games zonka you're only getting a thousand granted splitting the backfield with mercury morris so you gotta that's a good tandem yeah that is a great tandem but i don't know was just laughing at or there's just running backs this like backlog of running backs like steven jackson who has fifteen thousand career yards and seventy eight touchdowns unable to get in and larry zonka has eight thousand nine hundred total career scrimmage yards and sixty eight touchdowns and he's in but he just happened to be on the dolphins like right place right time on the right team and early in the history of the nfl where it you're able to get in the hall because there's not a backlog of running backs at that point but just shout out this was more not to downplay larry zonka but to try and uplift steven jackson and point out how sick his numbers are you said a player there that triggered something into my brain and i feel like we are turning a leaf here in football commentating and i i forgive me i forget what the roundtable was but it may be espn or i don't know i caught the clip but talking about jeremiah love obviously on this upcoming draft and how his draft stock is continuing to increase and the conversation was around comparing jeremiah love to former players and like there was like debate and like you know people were saying no and then i can't remember who it was but they're like you know who he really reminds me of like who are they like oj simpson and i was like that's the whole way like the way he runs and everything else i was like that's where we're at now where we we can feel okay that we can compare these draft prospects to oj simpson when that seemed like something we didn't do for for decades but it's happening here in twenty twenty six it's separate the art from the artist separate the separate the running back from the murderer like this is how i talk about hulk hogan it's like you gotta you gotta separate the terry belea and hulk hogan completely different people yeah i also have to shout out hugh mcilhenny vintage football guy played in the nfl from fifty two to sixty four for the niners vikings giants and lions but couple quick points about hugh mcelhenny his nick his nickname was the king which i was like that's sick how do you get the nickname the king and hustle hustlin' hugh was his or hurrying hugh sorry but and he was a member of san francisco's famed million dollar backfield which i had never heard of i apologize million dollar backfield i wasn't familiar with your game but it's this tandem of ya tittle at quarterback and then joe perry hugh mcilhenny and john henry johnson at halfbacks and fullbacks and i guess they were just dominant but just having the nickname million dollar backfield is one of the cooler nicknames i've ever heard in football they did not make over a million dollars like salary or anything it was just more of them being their collective talent skill level and they like made quotes later in the line later down the line where they're like i'm still looking for that million like because they were getting paid like nothing back in the day but yeah shout out hugh mcelhenny the king and the million dollar backfield we we need more nicknames we need more nicknames of groups of players of players themselves i'm all about the nickname and nicknames for groups duos and groups like sonic and knuckles was solid for the lions i mean not like the greatest but it was cool that it existed and that that was there thunder and lightning is all time splash brothers if we're going into basketball another cool one but and then we're talking legion of boom and the dark side so we've got some some defensive groups but i still feel like we're due for a good duo i i have always been very fond of and maybe you know the origin but i've always thought like monsters of the midway is oh yes a a great way to this it's not the name but it's like the supporting name of the team and i've always been very fond of that yes mon like to the throwback net like monsters of the midway steel curtain purple people eaters like those are purple people eaters is pretty sick it's very good and also shout out the vikings in general because i was looking at the dolphins who they won that super bowl with larry zonka and they beat the vikings i'm like damn the vikings are always good but they've never won at all like they the vikings are never a terrible team like throughout the course of history they're making super bowls losing super bowls making nfc championship games losing nfc championship games so just i sympathize with the minnesota vikings fan base that's gotta be brutal to always be close and not get over the hump they think just think about the skill position guys that they've had over the last couple day you know you go from moss peterson now justin jefferson they always have dudes and they always have a really solid defense it's just and i know we've got some vikings fans who are listening to the pod so yeah it's one of these years may maybe kyler murray turns off the xbox and you know focuses in he seems like he's could be re reinvigorated you know koc and kyler i i kinda like it i i like the landing spot i'm glad i don't have to watch jj mccarthy play football anymore so i'm i'm actually kind of excited about what's going on in minnesota going into this year yeah that is i mean i'm more scared of kyler murray than jj mccarthy absolutely so yeah vikings what are the what are the vikings up to something's going on cool thirty nines episode thirty nine we've got a drive to finish brett where are we at again it's first and ten from our own forty seven we hit that explosive thirty yard gain last week and we got we got a good play call sheet i'll say that and here's here's how it's gonna unfold so first and ten our own forty seven from charm city tim do you have any team related tattoos and if not what would you get shout out charm city tim passionate ravens collector passionate football fan loves the history of football he displays that through his collection what a great question i do i do not have tattoos i'm tattoo less have i thought about tattoos maybe i have now that i'm forty maybe i'm going through midlife crisis like do i get a tattoo maybe this question inspires me to go over to the tattoo parlor one of my favorite spots i think it actually closed down but when i dropped my kids off at school someone decided to open up a tattoo parlor in indy and also fuse it together with cannabis and so it's called delta nine tattoos and basically it's just like get ripped and get tattoos i'm like that seems like a an interesting scene there but anyways to his question it would i have i have two things that come to my mind i've got the picture on my wall over here it'd be on my back i would just get like my first tattoo would just be like you know how when when there was like this clip going around about like sedating like anthony richardson and him just like getting like this back tattoo i think like my first tattoo i would just be like take me out just like sedate me and i'm like in one of those chairs i could use a break i could use the sleep anyways and i would just have like this canvas of like bob sanders kissing the lombardi trophy and i would probably do like maybe even even if i'm not if i'm knocked out what the hell we'll just do like all the scores of the season like across my back that would be one other one would probably be like something like on my forearm i'd like pay a tribute to jim erse and i'd have him like in a cowboy hat like riding a fender like shooting lightning lightning like amounts to like the colts logo something like that that incredible incredible answers but i feel like i forgot about the anthony richardson you can't do that part of having a tattoo is you earn it and you sit through the pain because then people will always ask did it hurt and you can't say i don't know i chose to get knocked out for it that's yeah that that's a that was a red flag for ar yeah they they should've asked them about that in the predraft process like do you ever have plans to get knocked out while getting a back tattoo and after the ar there was somebody else i feel like it was like zion or or lamelo ball somebody like it's a new trend just get knocked out and get tatted it's like yeah that's like having a surrogate for a kid like yeah i want one but i don't wanna deal with like you know all that comes with it yeah shout out charm city tim for the question because i wrote love this question that's already easy completion ten yard gain to me this question is like the start a game with a play action bootleg and there's just like a shallow crosser where the quarterback just easy throw and they get ten yards and i'm like why does why don't teams do that every single every single time on first down that play works every time so boom already we're you know across midfield i don't have any tattoos i love though thinking about some ideas and same to you as like a sick back piece just getting like looking realistic like a jersey cutler six on the back just a whole back piece that looks like the back of a jersey and just imagining the conversations that would come with having that and then that got me thinking how sick would it be to get the nfl equipment logo like right right here at the top of your sternum where it would actually show up dude that would hurt so bad but you could get knocked out for it yeah we're just walking around like with your family at the beach and the only tattoo you have is the equipment shield on your chest you know what would be cool with that like you could this would be like a collecting project is if you had that and then like you aspire to just get you go up to like the national and you go up to like joe montana and joe montana signs your chest and then you go to the tattoo parlor so you just try to get all the legends like tattooed so you have all their signatures all over your body as well yes well i've gotta shout out there's like a bear super fan i bet if you just google bears tattoo guy you'll find him but he because he gets like a pregame segment like once every other year but he's just gotten bears players to sign him over the years and then he gets a tattoo where their signature is so he's got like fifty signatures all over his body and it looks sick so shout out bears tattoo guy he probably has a lot of work to do after this last season yeah he's got he's got a new addition i think he tried to get cutler and cutler was like no like i'm not signing you which is great for both parties but i would also i wrote down maybe good better best maybe get that tatted or the transcription of kevin burkhart's call for the dj moore touchdown against the packers where it's like looking downfield launching downfield going for it all what about the what about like madden style box the play itself like oh like you're you're like looking at the play design and you just get that that would be actually maybe i wanna change my answer to be a be like a a some play like that like the reggie wayne touchdown in the super bowl like that would like call that would be maybe we just be we just you're gonna see that like on my face in a couple weeks when i'm work recording this like this is getting me excited tim nice work let's get tatted alright next question so first down again so if we got ten yards we're at the forty three we're at the forty three now we're creeping second so now it's first down first and ten opponent forty three from matty d thirteen eighty eight calvin johnson and ap same draft class need more respect now this isn't a question so it's a sack boom seven yard loss we're we're at we're at the fifty second but let's let's take a second to answer this so what what were you thinking here brett i tied i just did i disagree actually because i believe both of them are pretty respected especially when it comes to their collectability strong collector bases i feel like their cards both sell pretty strong and with them you get six years of tops and then you also get the it's a mirrors too so you've got like you can get super fractures you can get finites so i don't know like i find that i see their cards posted pretty regularly there's been some sick sales they go for quite a bit so i kinda disagree this this comment triggered i don't know if this was recently i don't know if you saw this or not but adrian peterson's always getting into something i saw a clip of him like literally getting in a fist fight in a pool hall recently and i'm like boy this guy like says it's like he's not just this maybe that's why he played for so long because it was distraction and but adrian peterson without football is not an adrian peterson i i want any part of because there's always something happening yeah i i saw the clip and then i had to watch it again before this because i knew this would come up getting in a fight yeah during a poker game and then it's poker not pool sorry poker but tmz got like quotes from peterson on it and this these are amazing he says alcohol was involved peterson told us though he insisted it was not the reason things turned violent which is just not true that's a hundred percent a factor in why things turned violent but then peterson went on to say he goes me and the guy were cool peterson said we've known each other it was literally like a brother situation we agreed to disagree we had our words and we threw blows and that was it i just like it was literally a brother situation as an excuse for just trying to beat someone's ass over a poker game can you imagine adrian peterson coming at you swinging no i would die he would kill me that guy kinda holds his own if you're if you watch the video i know i was very impressed that me too adrian peterson bearing you down and at one point peterson like slips and falls he the guys kinda got him you know got an advantage there so yeah the off the field stuff for ap sucks like you can't beat your kids with a stick like you just can't you can't do it and yeah you can't be getting into fights in in poker poker halls but i kind of agreed where i'm like i think they get the right amount of respect and if anything i kinda have been brewing on a take that i think calvin johnson is little overrated megatron maybe a little overrated let's hear it his first four seasons in the league two hundred and seventy catches four thousand one hundred and ninety one yards kind of average and like here's a mystery player three hundred and three catches four thousand one hundred and twenty nine yards so thirty more catches seventy less yards in their first four seasons compared to megatron that player jaylen waddle top of the suit du jour yes so what that is to illustrate is through four years calvin johnson's yardage per season was seven hundred and fifty thirteen hundred nine hundred and eighty eleven hundred just kinda like normal seasons i i feel like calvin johnson is remembered as like the most dominant receiver ever and he was on like unstoppable he then after those first four seasons did have like the greatest one of the greatest three year runs of all time where he had sixteen hundred yard season his nineteen sixty four season and then another fourteen hundred yard season but after that a thousand twelve hundred and he's done so like he yes he had a three year run where he had three first team all pros and a great stretch but i don't know i just maybe it's because he's a division rival but i'm like i remember calvin johnson being good and having that specifically that one season where it was like oh my god is he gonna get two thousand yards that would be sick but overall like antonio brown has like better numbers julio jones has better you know like i it it's all debate from there of like preferences but i just think calvin you know he was great he was a great receiver but i don't know if he's like a mount rushmore type receiver is what i guess i'm getting at when sometimes i feel like he's revered as people only remember that legendary record setting season and think that's how it was his entire career but he you know he had some pretty pedestrian seasons as well i very very interesting perspective and i think the data tells you something what i this has me thinking kinda back to an episode or two ago when we were talking about the free agent hobby impact like player you mentioned malik willis my question is did is there any points taken away from your malik willis take now that jalen waddle has been traded to the denver broncos and malik willis will be throwing it to i don't know like is that does that hurt your take at all i mean it definitely feels like the if if i'm a dealer with malik willis cards trying to sell them i've lost some leverage in selling the fact that malik willis could be help the dolphins turn around when it's like oh the dolphins are clearly going into some sort of like rebuild teardown mode and that this season's probably gonna be like not that malik willis is at malik willis' skill level did not change but mhmm he's clearly going into a shittier situation than thought a couple weeks ago but i don't know maybe in the draft you know they they do some things or make some moves but yeah and you got a tough division to worry about too with the patriots and bills so yeah i don't know malik willis it's the dolphins it's gonna be a tough year alright so we got sacked we're at midfield second and seventeen also i guess this is just a continuation of that play but jason jason c sports cards said why do you think the market for tyreek hill is so light i'm con counting this as like a continuation of the jaylen waddle topic okay yeah why do you think the tyreek hill market is so light i think it's probably has something to do with just instability there always seems to be something with tyreek hill whether it's injuries off the field stuff pregnant women there's mhmm there there's always something with him and i think collectors especially with skill position guys you know seek some level of stability obviously there has been some monster sales for tyreek hill stuff and you can look at his what he has done at his peak and he's a very high level receiver of this era but yeah i don't know it just it just feels like on the miami situation i feel like if he stayed with the chiefs you know his the prices would be very very strong the miami situation started off strong but then it it it fizzled out like a fart in church quite a bit so yeah i don't know instability is kinda my answer what do you think i i put our attention spans are cooked it's just we're like it it's all the what have you done for me lately when we're thinking especially like for current players like tyreek hill's first two years in miami back to back first team all pro receiver one thousand seven hundred and ten yards and then one thousand seven hundred ninety nine yards like do you remember the dolphins when they put up seventy points they just ridiculous i remember being like this is the future of the nfl like this team is unstoppable they just got the two fastest guys in the league and you can't you can't catch them and that's kind of a reminder how fast things can change and i'm trying to remember that myself to stay humble of like at this point i'm like oh my god ben johnson caleb williams is the future for the next ten years and can all change on a dime but since that explosive start to the those first two years in miami yeah tyreek had a down year in twenty twenty four with like bad quarterback situation and then he gets hurt last year and he turns thirty and so it's just like all those things it's literally the toy story andy dropping woody they're like i don't wanna play with you anymore meme for tyreek hill for skilled players in general once you know i feel like once that downward like coming down off the peak starts happening it just seems like they can lose interest and momentum very fast but then i do think history will be kind to tyreek hill nostalgia will be kind to tyreek hill like in ten years when there's not been another tyreek hill people will be like dude was so sick he was so fast if the chiefs needed a seventy five yard touchdown they could get it at any second with tyreek hill the chiefs thing i hadn't really thought if he had stayed on the chiefs his whole career i do think that would have helped too i i yeah i i like what you're calling out here with the instability at quarterback like skyler thompson's not getting the ball to anyone and that was pretty ugly i think about like this element of likability and that in order to be like highly collected you have to be liked and i i i question like is tyreek hill liked like his his city like his like i think like the police chief made a comment when he left like the city in miami like just i don't know he doesn't seem to have the highest likability so i think that's something in collecting to consider i also you were talking about the that start in the seventy point game are the miami dolphins trendsetters like i think about that i think about the wildcat it starts off hot and then the league figures it out then it flames out but the dolphins could be low key trendsetters in the nfl yeah that everything's starts down in miami one thing i was also thinking of too the just like off the field stuff that does suck when that happens to a player you collect i remember recently jay cutler got a dui but then i was like kinda tracks with his personnel it doesn't make me hate him any less it's like alright fair that's that's like our alright jay like get a cab next time but yeah like tyreek hill adrian peterson there does seem to be like it's like just be a nicer guy maybe i don't know i'm sure they're nice guys but don't play poker with them maybe i don't know alright let's get on with it next question lost my question sheet from chargers pc sports cards select football versus prism football year by year who wins i going year by year sounds very very exhausting so i just kinda took it from the beginning i would say my favorite years of select football are twenty thirteen twenty fourteen and so the question is versus prism is that right yes yeah okay but i think the problem is is like if i take those years and go head to head with prism i'm going head to head against third twenty thirteen and twenty fourteen prism which are like two of my favorite years and select had a gap year in twenty fifteen twenty sixteen is okay twenty seventeen field levels are cool then like after that for the most part like it goes retail it just kind of loses its luster to me so i didn't even i mean it's probably obvious i didn't really need to go through the exercise i think the early years in select are the best years but they're going head to head against the best years in prism and i just can't quite possibly side with select over prism it's just not in my dna yeah i wrote it really comes down to twenty thirteen and it's like do i think do i like twenty thirteen select more than twenty thirteen prism and do i would i rather have the jay cutler twenty thirteen select black or the jay cutler twenty thirteen prism finite and i do actually think i might go select in that just i pairing pairing the twenty thirteen select black color with the twenty twelve finite to meet like the first year of these two sets would be cool but pairing the twenty twelve and twenty thirteen twilight is all kinda awesome and i twenty thirteen prism's one of my favorites so i do think i have to go prism just because it's so much of my collection is prism that i didn't wanna have to talk sense into you here twenty thirteen is a great year but just think about the aesthetic you're just getting the black on the twenty thirteen on the mhmm select on the twenty thirteen prism you're getting the aesthetic you're getting the finite the shine the rainbow glow it's squares jet majestic the squares so yeah that's that's that's my reasoning yeah there's i'd i know but i just the twenty thirteen select blacks are they're sick they're sick yes but no doubt i'm just i'm just bitter that andrew luck went to the vortex and i can't get it one day one day one day and then to piggyback off that question rambo's pc optic versus select which takes the crown as prism's sidekick now go for it i wanna hear yours okay see to me like i like optic i do but it's just so safe and it doesn't have like a defining set i know twenty sixteen is the first year and people love it it's never just been my favorite and then select has some years of like again twenty thirteen that i really like twenty fourteen's cool and even more recently like and then i was thinking about it if i could only collect from the optic catalog or the select catalog for the rest of my days which one would i pick as as my way to answer this question and i want select just because i do think there's like there's so much that i feel like i could find some things that i don't know and like kind of have some fun and they have you know different kinds of black one of one stuff in there i know optic has gold vinyl one zero one but i don't know i'm i'm going select but what'd you pick you know everyone's gonna think i'm a select hater which i'm not i have select cards in my collection that i really really enjoy but i'm picking optic and i think one element of my optic selection is that it feels less discovered it feels less pumped in a way where it's the collectors who love it love it and it just hasn't quite hit that like two x three x threshold yet that we're used to in some of the other stuff like the the gold vinyl that come out i don't know we just haven't seen the massive sales like we've seen with like the twenty thirteen select blacks so i think that's an interesting element i also like i love twenty sixteen optic as a debut and don't think it gets a ton of recognition but i would say like twenty sixteen twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen optic that three that start of that run is one of my favorite run like start of a run-in all of panini i love all three of those products after that it becomes it loses its luster a little bit for me as a brand but the images the designs the way that is configured i just i don't i i can't look at select and say they have had a three year run like those first three years of optic and essentially that is for me as a collector and what i like that's why i signed with optic on this yeah that makes sense alright we got ten yards there which brings us to third and seven from the forty so we're creeping up we're creeping up and this is from five zero four person if you could magically acquire the black finite run of your favorite player or players would you cheer for your rival team on sunday for one sunday absolutely like yeah no question i would do that yeah that's yeah that's a no brainer to me what about you i i need an i need a little more information i think maybe just some clarification i'd ask is it just chair and if it's just chair of course like i i do this it seems like at the end of every season the colts don't make the playoffs i'm i'm cheering for one of the teams that i hate to win just for you know playoff odds to increase in my end but like if you're asking me to like go to new england or houston or jacksonville and like paint my face and you know cheer like passionately for their team i i that's where i would draw the line there i'd be like keep your cards i just i don't feel safe doing that you wouldn't go to foxborough to watch a patriots game in a brady jersey no to get the entire finite run of whatever like whoever you need i don't i feel like you have them all so i don't know what who the player is that like someone around twenty like who has the longest run of finites for colts players is there anyone that's any colts player who's in all the years of prism no i think ty hilton would be the longest run okay i i i have values man i couldn't do it oh i'd i'd do it in a heartbeat see like i was thinking about it because like i i've bet money against the bears during those bad bears years like the justin fields three and fourteen like i started betting against the bears because i used to bet on the bears and then they'd lose and i'd also lose money and i'd be like this just sucks i'm doubly pissed off but if i bet against the bears it's like how much money would i pay for the bears to win alright i'll bet fifty bucks if they if the bears win that means i paid fifty dollars for a win if the bears lose at least i made some money so it's the the emotional hedge i did that during during some down years so all that to say like i have no shame and for some finites i mean to get the thirteen fourteen fifteen pulsar and sixteen cutler finites if i had to just go to lambo rock a rogers jersey i know i know who i am i i know why i'm there and it's i'm there for the bears i'm not there for the packers like i yeah the outward appearance whatever appearance whatever so so so i'm gonna invert i'm gonna expand this so this is this is not turning into one game this is turning into a an entire season okay you have to root against the bears you have to cheer for the packers you have to go to gotta buy tickets buy tickets you are in lambeau when the bears are in town rooting against the bears in your jordan love jersey with a cheese head on and a green and yellow face and you're at the local establishments having some pops with the packer fans and you also have to buy one of those like old acme like aaron rodgers throwback jerseys you have to wear that like when you go to work on work trips and show up in the office like you you gotta do it like would you would you do that well just from a no just no yeah i just can't even picture myself like feel like would oh yeah it'd be like in get out where he like snaps too and he's like no no this isn't me yeah especially no i couldn't not for a whole year that's just logistically traveling i'd have to just probably live in green bay for a season and that sounds terrible i can't like no can't do it i just wanted to see your prompter i'd go pretty far though okay i would go to a game and i could a bears packers game would be tough it would be tough to if it was just like packers versus the lions or whatever but no dude if if you told me i had to go to duval and wear like zubaz jaguars pants and wear like a throwback maurice jones drew jersey and cherry sounds sick so fun i just i would hope that on my way stepping out of the vehicle to walk into the stadium that some brave colts fans would colt fan would just shoot me in the back of the head and you gotta you gotta be in the pool the pool in the stadium that would that would be i might do that just for fun and to just fully immerse myself in jaguars culture and being a jags fan would be sick there's plenty of them that listen shout out all you jags fan they're actually we i have very friendly conversations with the jaguars fans greg greg i will say this the jags collectors are a great group of collectors that's one nice thing i'll say about the jacksonville jaguars i'm i'm happy for jags fans and i i know you don't wanna hear that but i'm glad that they're it seems like they might might turn it be turning it around nfl's better when the jags are better isn't that what they said america's team america's team alright that was a good question we got six yards it's now the third fourth and one from the thirty four so i think we have to go for it fourth and one at the thirty four and we got a question from drake on fourth down says please walk me through your thought process if you've considered this if there if they were similar value would you rather have a scarce coveted nineties parallel out of twenty five to fifty or would you rather have a later year one of one let's assume you are choosing between a pmg or rubies or a random year super factor why would you choose one over the other does it make sense that a card at a twenty five to fifty would be similar value as the one zero one the one zero one seems like the obvious answer and it usually is but for whatever reason people spend similar money on pmgs rubies etcetera just trying to wrap my mind around that drake with the brain buster i'm gonna dig into this i think there's a lot of unanswered things that go into this because we're not talking about the subjects on the cards or the players and i think that's a factor in me answering this question correctly but i'll take a little stab at it i'd i don't necessarily think it's a scarcity question i think it's a meaning question and not all one of ones are created equally not all nineties out of fifty or twenty five parallels are equaled or created equally as well drake mentioned pmgs and rubies and i think if you look at pmgs and rubies you can start to create some first right they're first of their kind limited in an era that didn't really rely on serial numbers they're deeply embedded in the history of the hobby and they're recognized by collectors modern one of ones are more prolific and often many one of ones of the same player year lack kind of this shared meaning amongst collectors if you gave me the choice of like and this is what came in my brain when i was thinking about this like taking all the values away if you like gave me the choice of like a twenty thirteen andrew luck tops or yeah tops chrome superfractor or a let's just do tops find a superfractor and a like marshall falk pmg red and like a psa eight i'd i'd probably go with the the marshall faulk i don't know it you would not a lux superfractor twenty thirteen tops chrome is so sick yeah maybe you're right maybe you're right but i don't know like do you kinda get where yeah yeah it's hard going with it it's hard without like the same player to kinda be your control in this that's that's that's what i'm struggling with is also part of it but to me like to me it's just which card looks cooler like which card do you like more like if it comes down to just i wanna spend a thousand dollars on this pmg or rubies of a player or a thousand dollars on the super factor of a player if they're like same value and you don't know what to do it's like i don't know if buying the super factor just because it's a super factor makes more sense i don't know like this one to me like let me see what what was his exact wording of the question for whatever reason people spend similar money on pmgs and rubies he's trying to wrap his mind around that like why people would spend i i think i guess maybe getting the pmgs and rubies are higher valued than he thinks they should be maybe for the amount that there are yeah i think like the what and like what i was trying to speak to is the fact that like the ninety seven pmgs were the first pmgs and they're highly collected and highly loved that like this is why there's consensus around those cards and that's the reason why they're valued at what they are and although there is a certain amount of copies like there there are only if like if you look at the pop reports not all of those copies are represented and so yeah i just think i don't know man these these these stories and this consensus happens around these sets and that drives the price where you it's impossible to have like the same consensus around all of the one of ones over the history of football cards and so i just think it's re it it'll always be challenging to compare and contrast like the values of one of one stuff with like very popular parallel sets in other areas i think it's just that's always gonna be a challenge yeah and those sets are just so beloved by the community and like that's why and they transact like you see them all the time they're in every not necessarily the same players over and over but like those cards are sick and collected for a reason and then like yeah just because if you found some random one of one i don't know if that yeah i don't know i'm kinda stumbling around on this one but actually there's a penalty defensive holding five yard gain automatic first down we got stopped but they but there's a little little help from the officials right there look at that we'll take it drake you're asking the brainbusters yeah tough the the there's so much gray area i feel like drake's mind always is like breaking everything down and trying to get to the specific i i don't know like i feel like collecting and collecting and comparing and contrasting amongst cards eras markets players like there's so much gray area that it it just gets really challenging to define i love because also shout out drake drake is constantly the one to remind me to do a question call out like i'll i'll see a dm that's like are you doing questions this week i'm like wow he's on top of it more than i am but trying to wrap his mind around this like just contemplating with drake that's a that's a that's a show i would watch i'm just sitting in a nice living room contemplating with drake wrapping our minds around hobby talk vicks that's what we're doing here on the football card pod thanks drake alright thanks for all the questions everybody first and ten at the twenty nine we gotta finish this drive eventually we're getting there we'll do questions again next week and maybe maybe we'll score we're getting close we're getting close let's move it forward nfl check-in i don't have anything on the nfl front really yeah me neither i maybe next episode we talk i was thinking about like we got draft coming up in a month we can maybe fantasy book what we think if we were in control of tops what we would do with the draft and like the photoshoots and memorabilia and all that stuff like i think that might be a fun topic to explore i haven't really thought about it but i put that in the notes like that'd be fun to dig into at some point yeah we will do that let's get into some sales we have some sales to talk about and man i love the culture around big card for sale that people like or hold or have some copy of this and you've got the the posting before the auction goes live you got the debating and the fighting back and forth mine's better no yours is better all this back and forth and there's not a better example than when a big tom brady comes to market you've got just pissing contests everywhere and we've got the ultimate piss contest in this two thousand and two finest tom brady gold refractor which is a pop two and a psa ten this baby was juiced up juiced to the gills i imagine the behind the scenes and the organizing and orchestrating to bid up on this card that has twenty five copies but is only a population two in a gem mint psa ten this bad boy sold on the king of collectibles platform golden itself for one hundred and sixty one nine hundred and eighty eight thousand dollars in the golden auction a a who says no one no one's buying two thousand to two thousand ten football we got a six figure sale here i two thousand and two finest someone's obviously listening to the football card podcast who's out there who bought this card but what a sale we've seen this this card was very controversial on instagram i know you collect this are you a millionaire now or are you like close to a million because you've got a lot of these cards like what are your thoughts on this yeah what does this make my chris wenke worth that was my first no this sale's insane i mean bonkers yeah and i and i don't look at that and say like if another one sells in a month i bet it takes a massive haircut this is what that feels like to me is one of these like because yes this hasn't sold pub one of these cars has not sold publicly in like over like years and decades i feel like the s a ten is never sold publicly sold ten yeah never sold publicly so this is to me like the marino's credentials situation where that sold and it was like oh my god i've never seen this there's only eight copies or seven whatever that one was number two then it sold three more times like i kinda do hope this brings out more of these cards and we see more of them hit the market but yeah i don't know this just this is insane and then when we're talking a couple weeks ago while this one was live like the drew brees sold for three thousand the jerry rice sold for like two k for like tom brady to be eighty times the jerry rice seems insane and to me it means the brady's worth a lot less not that the rice should be worth a lot more or that all these other ones should be worth a lot more to me it's like this is this is an anomaly this is an outlier but then again someone two people thought it was worth at least this much but i don't know that's just a crazy sale yeah it is and you're right two people thought it was worth this much so this is what it's worth but man to me it just seems and i get it like we're talking and i've talked about this we're talking about different classes and tiers on the grid investor collector financial tiers all this stuff all this stuff has to be considered but i i i would hope if like my wife had the sports card knowledge that i have acquired through this line of work for as long as i've been working in it and i said hey babe i bought the o two finest tom brady gold refractor psa ten pop two how much do you spend on it a hundred and sixty one k i feel pretty good about it i hope she would call me fucking crazy and her response would be like there's twenty five copies and you spent what that's what i hope the response would be and it just man twenty five copies twenty and i know two psa ten but then we're getting into this like reliance on grading scarcity with it just i it it i can't i i think these cards rule like i don't wanna get this lost and lost this card's amazing but it just it's it seems seems crazy to me yeah and like that that's just monster like a jerry rice green pmg sold for two hundred k like that's like a green pmg price is what i'm getting at for yes type of card and yes twenty five copies and a set that grades very very well again in in my experience and like if you look at pop reports there's a lot of tens so like i i bet there even a even if there's just three that are out there raw right now that get graded and two more get tens one more gets a ten like i don't know this the the yeah not to mention this isn't even the rarest parallel in this product all the x factor holders are coming out and saying what are you doing like well if you could got this sale look at what i have this is the first x factor and there's only twenty copies so you've got that whole dynamic at play too so it's like to me like i wanna root football card market on i wanna root this era of football cards but based on the information i have at my disposal it just seems bed bath and beyond yeah and honestly i feel like the x frackers historically sell for less though they do they do just people love gold people don't always love x fractors i love the x fractors out of this year but i also love the set when i could get them for like twenty bucks this i think is hurting my chances a little bit at adding more players if i i think i'm kinda you look at that refractor now i know that too i we're i'm probably stalling out yeah i mean awesome card like unbelievable card and just awesome sale for early two thousand like feel like we've over the years talked about like when is this era of football cards gonna get its due and you've got this sale you've got the o five finest super factor for seven hundred and brady though man you need more than brady it's i'm sick of all the i'm sick of it it's like i i need more i i need more than just tom brady cards selling for this price for me to like get really energized about it agreed agreed and on our just one real quick aside with the adam gray and the million dollar sale thing i went and i was looking through cardladder i don't have the hard data in front of me but i went to five hundred thousand dollars and just i was looking at all the recent five hundred thousand dollar sales and it's like where where are football cards there and they're still not there like there's and if they are there it's brady like the o five finest super his contenders what else one of something else of his sold recently for over five hundred k but yeah there's there's something there too that not only is football not breaking a million it's not breaking five hundred k we move on to the another golden auction when the two thousand twelve prism finite randy moss one of one in a psa nine selling for fifty six thousand one hundred and twenty dollars making it the highest public sale for a finite right you're you're at third you got pushed to third place with your cutler so this bests the marshawn lynch i'm sure a lot more i was pulled privately but i think take your search take these aren't black finites like it's just finite prism for twenty twelve good call so i think because there should be okay clay clay matthews kirk cousins yeah there's a few more good good call good call out but yeah monster sale randy moss it doesn't matter he's in a forty niners uniform people don't care they're looking at the first they're looking at moss so big big time sale yeah that's huge sale and what jumped out to me when i was looking at moss top moss sales of all time his top three sales he's not in a vikings uniform interesting his number one card he's in a 49ers uniform his second card his ninety eight ultra masterpiece he's in his marshall uniform and his third highest his twenty twenty five green kaboom he was in a patriots gear so all the way down to his fourth place card his two thousand flare showcase masterpiece one zero one from two thousand is his first vikings uniform that's that's a interesting nugget i don't need to see big players from this set sell every month but it is nice to get one or two in a year to gauge the appetite of the market yeah i wanna see i wanna see a big qb come i wanna see like the peyton aubrey stafford brady obviously someone's gonna have to convince spinitron to spinitron's got a couple of roads yeah it doesn't okay we move over to this ninety nine skybox metal universe pmg barry sanders psa eight selling at golden for nineteen thousand five hundred and twenty dollars and i wanted to call out this card because it's not there's only four public sales of this card and i'm not sure like i had this in my brain of like what this looks like but this card is just aesthetically stunning like one of the cooler barry sanders cards i've seen yeah this is awesome i mean the ninety nine is i'd say historically probably my like least favorite pmg like i prefer the honestly ninety eight i love the championship scope and then i like the greens and the reds over this design but this one looks awesome like that's an awesome picture of barry sanders the scan's great like that is just an awesome card and yet to me that based on how his like reds sell that there are a hundred and thirty five of like he just had a red psa eight sell for thirty five thousand so this for nineteen to me feels out of fifty seems like opportune i hate comparing and cross analyzing and all that but i don't know if i was spending twenty thousand dollars on a barry sanders card i'd go for this one that's out of fifty then try and find an extra fourteen thousand dollars to get one that's out of hundred and thirty five fair assessment we move over to twenty twenty select the prism black justin jefferson and a bgs nine selling for seven thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars i thought this was a pretty reasonable sale another sick card with the images i every time i see twenty twenty i just think about how loaded the draft class is from all the facts and skill position players like these are like the best players in the league feel like the hell came from twenty twenty but yeah man i've got the taylor rookie in this field level it's got the checkerboard like this is a cool card and when i was referencing select cards i own i was thinking about that taylor but yeah awesome card strong sale but still feel it feels pretty reasonable yeah that's awesome that's yeah already kinda nostalgic for twenty twenty like just that style of cards like from coming back in the hobby see this is why i would have picked select over optic cards like this i'm like alright select has some bangers that i guess i wasn't even thinking of and yeah twenty twenty draft class shout out justin jefferson going what he was the fifth receiver taken yeah you got cd i mean yeah it's behind cd jerry judy jalen reagor and henry ruggs henry ruggs was the first taken in that fight that's crazy but yeah yeah this card rules yeah that is we we could do a whole experiment on the twenty twenty receiver class at some point and maybe we will we're gonna round it out with you already mentioned him tiki barber how about a two thousand five tops draft pick tiki barber black super factor one of one and a psa ten selling for two thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars now we've covered these tops draft picks black super fractures which just are super fractures i don't know why they're black super fractures we've done this kind of research before but this is like this is the first released super fractures in football cards so i think that is certainly cool and yeah it's a great great lot of lot of gold swirls tiki's looking up probably at the scoreboard making sure he's not getting tackled but yeah sick card yeah that's awesome the looking up at the jumbotron pick is clear the one thing about these that always jumps out to me is like you've got pros and prospects you've got rookies and stars you got draft picks and prospects aren't those the same thing isn't a draft pick a prospect like why is this not draft picks and veterans or you know it's like you i don't know that that has always kinda bothered me i guess that it's i never thought about it and now i won't i'll think about it every time i i see these cards now it's supposed to represent the rookies and the nonrookies and this is double rookies but the tk barber is a established veteran at this point in the set so i don't know but awesome card that card rules i actually looked like what is his highest selling card and how about this his his gem masters which is was his second year in the league he's wearing the visor look at this come up dude this card sold raw in april of twenty twenty four for six thousand dollars raw graded in a psa holder goes to auction a year and some change later selling for eighteen thousand three hundred yeah that's insane that card looks awesome yep this card is dude you get the statue of liberty back there you get the boxes you get tiki barber and a visor this is sneaky one of the coolest football cards i've ever seen i like was just i was when i searched tiki barber and did the whole like sort and it this was at the top i was like i don't know if i have ever seen this i clicked in i was just like staring at the card forever like as sick as it gets yeah and those like that gem master pattern's not like doesn't look as cool as the ninety nine to me but right here in this picture it's the coolest thing i've ever seen no doubt shout out for providing the data for the sales segment shout out cardladder alright let's get some quick collecting updates and a call out and get out of here i've got no updates i bought some basketball cards actually but no no football pickups what about you yeah it's i i bought some basketball cards and some wrestling cards so i have nothing to report on the football card front you know it is the off season we're taking a week off from buying football cards so yeah nothing nothing popped up that i needed yeah oh i did write this down i wanted to bring up real quick to see if you've ever done this or if our listeners have ever done this but i have this card that i bought raw last year it's like a two hundred fifty three hundred dollar card sick card but like one that i bought always with the intent to sell and honestly the intent to grade and then sell because it's a rare card good copy i haven't done that yet but multiple times since i've bought that card the a new card will come up that i wanna buy and it might be a three hundred dollar card and i'm like hey well if i just sell that one card i could cover this card so i'll buy the card but then i never sell the other card because by the time i get the card and credit card's clear and things happen it's like oh i actually it was fine i didn't need that money but now i've probably in my head sold that same card ten times to pay for other cards i just keep selling that and so some of these basketball cards that i bought were a product of me selling that card again in my head and so i didn't know if you've ever experienced anything like that dude i i actually use this as a method to see if i really wanna keep a card or not so i would suggest to you stay true to your guns keep it stick to your plan there will be rewards at the end of this this journey for you i do this all the time this is like this is an all the time thing i have also i have the start of this year i have bought so much and i had one consignment that went out but other than that and it was like smaller i i've been on a i love buying cards and keeping them and not having to make sacrifices like last year i felt like every big card i bought i had to make like sacrifices and i feel like in a pretty good spot where i've been buying a lot and not i'm just like telling myself like you love the cards keep the cards i don't want any regret i will always consolidate when i need to but i yeah i'd it feels like the more you just hang on and keep like just the better off you are or the happier i am it's like if i i i it can be a little stressful making all these moves and sacrifices and but yeah i've experienced this and this resonates with me in a big way yeah just just buy the card just buy keep buying cards alright card call out last week we asked to see villains saw some awesome villains including from chromatic cards i know this made both of us laugh cade mcnown this we've done this or not but i would like to see cards since there are a lot of transactions going on right now cards of players that you love and collect who either signed with another team or got traded and you still collected that player like show some cards like in their other jersey you know what i mean does that fall too similar to our recent like players in odd jerseys or we're trying to find specific player collectors yes player and theirs okay yes yeah or is that it it it too similar too similar i think i think we gotta go broad to get the submissions back like i'm down to run back
