Booked to Last: Wrestling Card Hot Takes
it's episode twenty five yes it is i have returned from a weekend getaway up in adam's area in minnesota how are doing adam it was fun seeing you man it was fun seeing you it was it was great seeing you man i mean for for the time you and your boys were there i had my i think parker was just there at the time you were there but went on a whole family trip but it was good to see you as you won a little hockey box that you had you had me rip and bring back so yeah it was it was like first of all shout out to josh and the guys at minnesota sports cards mn sports cards like that shop is awesome first of all they did a tremendous job my kids had a great time ripped a bunch of pokemon ripped some wrestling all sorts of stuff parker hit some nice stuff like shocker there i know shocker of all shocks yes yeah right but yeah they had a good time we were there for a couple of hours i got to hang out with ryan and the crew my kids all walked away with something fun so if you're in the minnesota area be sure to check it out it's out probably about an hour away from the airport but it's a it's a great shop yeah monticello minnesota phenomenal shop they built it from the ground up you can't miss it it's right off the highway you could see it in front of a target and home depot prime location beautiful everything's brand new they brought in three vikings players cashman will reichard and they brought in mattelis yeah mattelis mattelis is also by the way mattelis huge wrestling fan talked to him about twenty minutes in the back josh and him started talking they started talking wrestling i was on the ford parker and i guess they got a conversation he said well who's your favorite wrestler of all time but tell us goes my two favorites are hbk and randy orton josh goes wyatt get over here and he's also a big seth rollins fan so him and i just shot it for twenty minutes really cold chat with him he was awesome came over brought parker in there to talk to him and and again they all the athletes were great outstanding job so it was that's why we were up there for the grand opening glad we got to do it and i got to spend a little time with adam and his boys yeah and they they have a they had a ton of wrestling stuff so we ripped some cosmic ripped some sapphire ripped mean it was it was a good time but yeah i mean like the the local card shop experience has definitely evolved i mean it's no longer these like you know the ones that you kinda started off in which is in a strip mall with like maybe a ten ten feet of square of square footage that you can this this is massive sprawling your new shop is is massive and sprawling which is awesome a lot of room to walk around and trade and sit down and do a bunch of stuff it was great yeah comfortability clean everything like that that's what shops should be aiming towards now if you can do it you can afford it it's huge it's huge to do events like that to where you get people in your store and and like like where you have randy orton you have four hundred people in your shop you still have space which was which was nice so was great man it was a good time it was a lot of fun alright let's get into the opening pyro i've got a really fun show for us we'll do the opening pyro i've got a new segment here we'll try i'm i'm curious how it's gonna work out it's a little crazy but let's start with what we saw on tv and there's been a lot of stuff i wanna like our favorite subject over the last couple of weeks has been king of the ring and queen of the ring i'm glad i missed one of these conversations when we come yeah i don't know if i can continue to do this and beat the dead horse on this but let's go yeah we'll we'll just touch on it briefly because there's really not much else that we can say maybe make some predictions but the finals are obafemi and jay uso versus and then the men's on the men's side and then the women's side it's liv and io i nothing has changed in my mind about the stupidity of this there's really not much to go into there i i'm sure you feel the same way yeah we know we kinda expect the outcomes i think we've watched wrestling long enough and we kinda feel what's coming but yeah yeah so as of right now the betting favorites i'm sorry if this is gonna be a spoiler but it's probably happened by the time you're listening to this because it's gonna be in saudi arabia so it'll be like eleven am on saturday and this will be out well ahead of that so the betting favorite is jay uso by a very thin margin and then io sky by a thin margin the predictions that have been made are that they're gonna do jay uso versus somebody that's not roman reigns and then io is gonna get herself mixed up and they're like i don't know what's going to happen because all of these outcomes are bad so i would i i think one of the takes that i've sort of like thought up on the fly was like what if gunther beats cody rhodes in the triple threat match that's happening in night of champions and then jay beats ova because brock interferes and they do a rematch of jay and gunther from wrestlemania forty one and this time gunther is gonna win i don't think jay ends up with a title here i don't think obafemi ends up with the title here if he wins i think they're keeping the champions as they are either it will be cody rhodes going on to main event summerslam or be one of the main events of summerslam and i think roman reigns is keeping the belt for the foreseeable future so even if obafemi wins he's gonna go and face roman reigns and brock lesnar will then interfere in that match so like some way somehow roman reigns is gonna keep his title i think if it's cody or gunther or sammy or whoever i think they will keep their title at summerslam so i don't think there's a lot that's gonna be changing hands there yeah roman needs to keep the title you don't need to take it off that's the best thing that wwe's got going right now is these revamped bloodline story what i don't like is that great we either get gunther or cody made of any one night of wrestlemania be one or the other champion i'm over it not big on either wrestler i mean cody obviously great story great to come back gunther puts me to sleep when you watch him he's a technical great wrestler he's a perfect heel he's a modern day but these guys don't do anything for me they don't move a needle do i wanna watch roman reigns absolutely i wanna watch roman reigns match but i don't like any of this outcome because you've gotta have brock lesnar fighting summer slams in his backyard it's in his home state you've gotta see this obafemi story come to an end that should have came to an end at wrestlemania we all know this we've been repeating this over and over it's being talked about everywhere horrible way to come back and now you've you've made this obafemi story it's like great now we know obafemi's probably gonna lose to jay uso or oh he's gonna lose to roman don't like any of this outcome it's ugly now you got liv and io you've gotta assume io's going on but if liv goes on then she's fighting for the belt she almost got severely injured and luckily wasn't as bad as it looked now you've got ria who is injured what ugh it's it's ugly this is this is the aftermath of mania right now this is what do we do we just gotta get to summerslam and have top notch wrestlers be able to be healthy and wrestle yeah i i just don't know what they're gonna do because if eo wins then either they do the same match again so like bingo the eo eo versus liv or eo wrestles ray rip ripley and that story shouldn't be told right now well like you can finally have eo eo ria's never beaten eo one zero one you could finally have ria beat her on a one zero one match and you could still have it or friendship match you don't need you don't need either turning a heel right now there's no i hope not yeah that's that's a wrestlemania level story if you're if you're having eo sky and rhea ripley come to blows over something that's outside of this tournament that is the wrestlemania story to tell building like not even a question i think that is the story where rhea finally beats io so then but again the other thing is like where's stephanie vaquer gonna fit into this if she is slated to come back soon so you're gonna have both king of the ring and queen of the ring finals with an interference finish like i i don't see that happening unless they're just they've been they've done stupider things with booking so i wanna move on quickly because i i think the the if obafemi wins because and brock lesnar isn't in saudi arabia for the first time like ever i think that match goes down in in summerslam's night two main event is roman reigns versus obafemi and if you saw the way crowds have been reacting to obafemi and they see the way they have always reacted to the tribal chief like that is a massive night two main event it is humongous i just don't think it's the outcome that i think people are wanting which is put the strap on oba because he's white hot but you can't take it off of roman because he's hot too so then you're like i don't understand why you wouldn't have figured this out differently but again that's the the problem with these tournaments i do think from a collecting standpoint i think if jay uso wins that's about as bad a scenario as you can have from a collecting perspective i think if ioskaya or liv wins both have very high collectability you saw what the liv gooners did to sol ruga's twitter account to when when she had that clip surfaced from a house show like liv fans are like worse than sasha banks' fans ever were and it's the worst and most disgusting thing ever but you know whatever we'll we'll put that aside so either way women's side whoever wins i don't think it really adds anything to eo i don't think it adds anything to liv they both accomplished so much i think if obafemi wins we'll get to it in a later segment if oba femi wins i think that maybe saves some of the dip that is that is maybe gonna happen here if he loses to jay uso but i think from a collectability standpoint oba winning is the best thing that can happen from a collecting standpoint just because he's the hottest name in wrestling cards right now here's the difference is they originally put a you know launch what are they rocket on the back of jay and forced jay down her throats i don't think there's any rocket being put on oba oba's doing it and the crowd sees what he is that's the thing wwe i don't think planned honestly i gotta think they didn't plan for how over he is right now i mean i don't think that was a planned thing so i think they're like scrap how do we do this how do we figure out how to pivot this right now because you should be building over for roman in my opinion for mania next year that's where this which is also in saudi arabia which is but anyways yeah another day in our time another day in another time i wanna talk quickly about this triple threat because sami zayn is in this match he they've put him in similar main event matches in the saudi shows because of his heritage and i think that's a cool idea i don't think sami's gonna win i don't want sami to win i don't i don't attribute any sort of feeling towards sammy zayn right now that necessitates him being like this crazy heel champion that we all have been hoping for like that doesn't exist i don't think gunther being champion helps smackdown in any way i still think cody being champion helps smackdown in any way i think smackdown is really suffering from sort of a power vacuum here at the top and i i think they should definitely go a different way and like i don't i would go fresh i would do something fresh with smackdown and just find somebody that you can strap a rocket to over the next couple of months and just by the time you get to like more games you're ready to take it off there's one person here that i think can save it and i think he's likely gonna be inserted at some point before summerslam and it's centimeters punk i think centimeters punk comes back i think that's the match cody has so we'll see oh well let me pivot this real quick just talking about the triple threat match here we know sammy's come about the story lately what if what if sammy does win this match but it's a temporary hold so let's just say oba loses because of lesnar then jay easily can beat it's believable that he could beat a guy like sami zayn sami finally gets the title in saudi carries it to summerslam loses it jay wins don't like it what i'm saying i don't like but i don't hate it because i don't wanna see gunther win i'm tired of cody throw something new what's it gonna hurt throw it against the ball let sammy win have jay win beat him carries the title doesn't have to carry it long but then you just made the bloodline even stronger this time around you have fatu over solu sikoa you you now have two champions a part of that just a scenario to play with to think about helps sami zayn's market may not like him but i don't hate him i actually don't dislike sammy at all out of the three i actually think it'd be kinda funny kinda cool to see him win but it makes it more believable that jay can go beat him in my opinion and it's a temporary hold for for what i don't know man i think i've they've this whole tournament just threw every and it's all throwing everybody for a curve oh god i mean it's predictable and not predictable what a curveball to throw because he only has to carry it for a month i mean hell summer slam's a month away he's gotta carry it for a month and he gets it in saudi arabia gets the crowd over he's a temporary intern hold it i don't know i don't don't like it i don't hate it but i don't wanna see gunther lee with it i really don't see cody lee with it i'm kinda just over i would i would be pumped if if they if they say okay oba's gonna win and and brock will interfere at summerslam instead of here i'm fine with that but brock needs to have a match at summerslam he has to have a match there's there's ways to do that or so that's number one and then i think you bring back centimeters punk centimeters punk versus cody that's a match i do wanna see yeah i'd okay with that build i'm good with that they they've they've been building that dropping hints here and there for a while we'll see one last thing that i think has gotten really weird because i think they speaking of strapping rockets to people chad gable's new thing which they did on raw i don't get it i don't understand what they're trying to do like this this whole promo where he's saying sorry he's this white meat baby face guy if it ends up where he eventually goes back to being a heel and this is all a ruse like then it makes sense but chad gable being like this white meat baby face with this music and like this it's just it's not the way that i would have capitalized on that match with ludwig kaiser i would have made him sort of this grappler killer and just be like yeah i i've recognized my heritage i've united the force of regular wrestling and lucha wrestling and i'm now this you know sort of like ultimate jedi here but i i don't get it i don't understand what they're doing with gable it makes him look stupid it it i i it's weird it was the momentum they had they've dropped the ball on this already in my opinion i feel like what are you doing you had a great come on segment where he picked up the you know ray's mask gave it to him crowd's going crazy and then this now it's like you finally have like you have something here you have something that could build up even more and you're going the other way i don't know man this is this is the time of year where it's gets harder to be weird between that yeah it is it is it's it makes it hard to watch and hard to swallow some of the stuff and it makes you as a fan go you're just racking your head behind it and that's and again we're spending how much time every time talking about this like yeah they haven't found their way yet they usually don't until middle of the year like later part of the middle of the year but i wanna i wanna call out one thing and it's it's gotten really annoying so jay uso is an entrance merchant i've said that before but he's an entrance merchant because of the crowd participation okay so the crowd participation he comes in he comes through the crowd does the yeet thing they do this run it back thing now which people call for but obafemi's reaction on raw is is everybody with a brain but either way so it's this crowd participation sort of entrance then you've got the street profits who come out won the tag titles on monday good for them they're a great tag team love watching they are awesome they have a crowd participation entrance where they're doing like this truck thing i i can't stand it it's not organic the yeet thing was more much more organic because jay just kind of always did stuff like that and the crowd kind of brought it and then he played along with it and made it bigger gable comes out now and is doing like this clappy thing and i'm just like we can't like every wrestler recognizes crowd participation gets you over and like street profits created their own thing and people are kind of doing it and gable's trying to get people to do his thing i i mean like we've gotta stop like if it's not organic please don't try and build it's like trying to make fetch happen do you agree or disagree no i agree i think you know use oba example i mean oba does his walk the crowd just picks up and kit my kids do the whole walk you know organic i mean again it could have been designed sure i'll give them that but it is taking over but yeah now you're just forcing all this stuff don't they have javon evans doing some saying now or trying to get the crowd over i don't know i catchphrase is bad too this is your warning shot oh my we just okay we gotta stop complaining i i feel like yeah big down i'm i'm a very positive guy and i feel like this first twenty meds has been very negative over everything but i think we're both very irritated i think a lot of people are irritating it's yeah move on i love what they're doing with fatu i think that was awesome i i like fatu continues to be the bright spot in monday night raw i think what they get going with roman i think that's good rollins and breaker i i i think that's actually sort of picked up some steam i think the vision is awful but once they get bronson reed back and bronson reed can go on their terror like i think that's cool but like this cage match that's happening in saudi like i think it's gonna be a really good match i know brett hates bronson breaker and there's a bronson breaker thing we'll get to in a second but like like i i'm a i like bron breakker i think he's intense i love the way that he wrestles at full speed every time and he doesn't have the best promo yet but he's like in the ring he is the embodiment of rick steiner and scott scott steiner combined and it's kinda cool and i think the the the dynamic if this is truly the blow off with seth rollins and the steel cage then i'm all for it but get brahma breaker onto something else get seth rollins onto something else that's something that needs to be rectified immediately so and then tiffy versus jade meh unfortunately i was like did you really put that there do we have to really go into that one i mean they've done that match so many times real quick going over the rollins breaker because i'm a rollins guy i i'm excited because rollins can work with anybody he is like yeah yeah in my opinion the nowadays hpk he could just he could work great with anybody gonna be an awesome match feel like rollins gets this win this is the closing chapter book they could finally close the story move on i'm i'm a hundred percent with you i don't think rollins loses this match i think this is his wheelhouse to win i think this is time you've already got the belts off of the off of them and now you could just kinda end this and move on and let's just be done with this vision thing with rollins and them move on to bigger and better things yep agree alright let's get on to some card market high spots really cool thing another wrestlemania patch autograph comp has come through gray phoenix sold on fanatics collect sixty three hundred dollars according to the seller i believe this is under the advance that fanatics gaze i think fanatics took a loss on this one which is interesting but my question to you is like what are your thoughts on the price and is this the floor like do you think sort of like ray phoenix he's been on triple a a little bit he hasn't really been on smackdown much like he's not the same level of focus that penta has had came in he was hurt came in late or contract situation really sort of put him from behind but does this impact the floor is this the floor and really does it impact the ceiling what's your thought on the price i think the floor is like an eric ivar type thing which is around three four grand exact yeah yeah let's make it a little bit more just for the longevity i don't think this is the floor for all of them i think this is a step up of some of the lower lower tier guys he's down there but he does have promise think you know him coming over a pit i feel like there's gotta be some storyline there for him in the future i do think this is very close to it i don't think this is the four for some of the lesser ones but it's pretty damn close i think three to four on on like an i believe eric ivar have them feel like one of those guys would trend in that range and this is there's the luchador peep the wrestlers have somewhat of a following so i feel that goes towards this so i feel like this is a step above and went about where i expected to go in the five to seven thousand nine range so we're spot on agreeing with that okay i don't think it impacts the ceiling either i i i think this is probably just an inconsequential sort of sale that is just there as another comp i think sixty three hundred i'm sure kat got it i'm sure he was the one that i mean i heard he did yeah from all intents and purposes he's going for all the ones that pop up on public auction so it's not surprising there i think he ended up with jay as well don't worry he didn't have to worry about bidding against me on this one so we're good on the on the other one here the other one's a little different story yes yeah so one of the other things i don't have a slide prepared for it but i wanna talk quickly if you guys aren't following at waxmetrics on twitter he is slab squatch he does all of the breakdowns for all of the products i wanna give him a shout out because he did a bunch of breakdowns for wwe products i covered it on main event wrestling cards if you guys have listened sapphire i think is an interesting thing we've talked a lot about it on the podcast but through all of the the different analysis that he did he sort of called out that and this is really what i wanted to focus on most of the cards there in sapphire are much more rare at the base level that i think people think are aware of he called out that the base autographs in sapphire should end up with about twenty five twenty to twenty five copies each so if you're opening a box of sapphire you're basically guaranteed an orange refractor autograph type level of of circulation he also said that the sapphire infinite cards usually range about fifteen to seventeen copies depending and then the sapphire selections are in the thirty card range so very very low print run-in about a thousand cases i think we've covered that in the past but just an interesting data point because i think sapphire overall is a completely underrated product this year mainly because of what happened last year and and the shitty product that that that ended up being but also you're getting a one of one pink or whatever else one of one one every about two cases which is just crazy that's crazy ripping if you're ripping sapphire there is really no better chance out there than ripping a a couple of cases and almost being like on track to get a one zero one you can rip breakers delight at at five thousand six thousand a case not even sniff a super factor you get a lot of value there the the paparazzica cards usually end up about sixty to seventy percent of what the supers sell for because of what they are but that's just really interesting information i wanted to call that out because i saw that this week and i was like oh that's really cool yeah i like that i did not know all that that makes me feel better about going to rip sapphire real quick you mentioned delight i wanna give a shout out and you'll agree with to rob singleton yeah adam and i both saw him at the minnesota shop it was funny he came up to me and he actually was eating at the restaurant next door and i was with my son and and a friend from panini and he overheard my voice and it's like that's where i brought me said when i came back over he came up we talked a little bit he took home a delight case did you see what he got i did the roman reigns the roman roman leaky black auditon so congrats on that rob it was great to see you man it was great talking to you and thanks for something by and talking about that i met his wife i it's it's all it's awesome like he he brought his wife along to the things that was cool he did he also pulled a garbage pail kids out of that case he did yes he did was really good yeah it was a good case for sure so yeah so i just wanted to call that out now i wanted i wanna play a game here so let's let's play a game for the record i don't know anything that's coming i don't read these slides he just throws them on and i go with it but that's where we go that's a mix of fun there's it's all this one it doesn't require you to have on the spot answers for anything we're gonna be basically i've i i'm on social media all the time i'm on facebook i'm on whatever i've seen a lot of stuff so what i did is i've compiled what we're gonna call hot takes wrestling card edition i have the the hot ones logo here adapted for our podcast and all of these takes i've seen on social media over the last few months i i wanted to like sort of compile them we also got some crowd participation so there's a last slide where we we'll go through some of the ones brought to me through instagram and twitter and facebook we'll go through each level of take there's they they grow in spiciness just like they do on hot ones so the the earlier takes won't be as spicy but the last ones are pretty spicy and then we'll give our feedback on each take agree or disagree and and then if you wanna go spicier on your own take you're you're encouraged to do so we good alright we'll see how this goes this is gonna be interesting alright we're gonna start with a mild take here this is the first wing and the take that i saw is we are at the peak of the wrestling card market with the recent sales and performance it's all downhill from here agree or disagree disagree completely it's only gonna grow my opinion yeah and this is this is one of those mild like this is every like see this a lot on social media it's like oh that's a bubble it's gonna burst whatever but i think this take that we're at the peak here and it's and like things are starting to slow down over across the hobby for any number of reasons ryan explained a couple of those last week but i i don't think we're at the peak and i think wrestling cards in general seem to be on an upward trajectory even when the rest of the hobby tends to slow down for the cyclical things that happen during the year so i i i i don't agree with this take either but this was this is the mild take if you will oh this is gonna be interesting i like this alright another mild take the the twenty twenty four select gold vinyls will hold more long term value and collectability than most of the other select black one of ones because they are quote unquote super fractures i somewhat can agree with this one because they only did the one year they're very close to a superfractor i i will go ahead and agree with this one because of the one year deal they did three years of select the last year they made them nonblack i i'm gonna go i'm gonna go agree i'm gonna agree okay so i i think it depends i think we saw the one of one black rock premier level from twenty twenty two sell for seventeen k last week i i think the gold vinyls of twenty twenty four select especially the ringside ones are beyond awesome mhmm and i would love for this to be true i think they deserve this level of collectibility but i think the debut ones especially the ring side with all those awesome photos they used in twenty twenty two may still carry a premium long term just because it's the debut but yeah i would love for this to be true for sure anything gold vinyl i think they did it in chronicles bunch of stuff they with the optics they did it with optic and then they did it with the other things honors was one they had it with if i was correct so i mean the gold vinyl's a great mean it's pretty close to a super fracture don't get me wrong i love blacks the black finite good god there's like nothing else like it except tops chrome geometric blacks this year but being one on ones i mean again this is i get it i mean i was disappointed at first that they did the gold the the gold vinyls list because from somebody that tries to build the blacks each year it was kinda weird to me but i i can get behind this i'm i'm behind this one yeah i think the top super fracture is a standard it will be a standard it will be the introduction for a number of people coming into the hobby during this time frame so like as fanatics grows the expansion the the idea of the prism black is probably gonna be more and more further in the past than it has been come during the previous boom i will agree the black finite you can't beat it it's amazing but i think from a super fractor perspective like it's gonna be hard to beat what topps' control is gonna look like over the market long term mhmm alright we're gonna get a little bit spicier here here's level two the panini era wrestling cards that are rare and desirable are bubble proof cards that will continue to get more desirable as time moves on i don't know if i'd use the word bubble proof but i agree to this completely i feel like the panini era is was a short lived it'll more than likely cannot see it ever happening again we're gonna be talking about iconic photo sets the flawless integration immaculate impeccable i mean they knocked us out of the ballpark we were ripping some over the weekend in minnesota just ripping some older photogenic absolutely love the photogenic cars guys are great the picture the imaging is great i'm not saying photogenics in this level but i don't know about i'd say the words bubble proof because i don't think anything technically technically is but i agree with everything else in this i i think from a bubble proof perspective like there are their vintage i think is bubble proof like anything vintage tends to be bubble proof like it goes up and down a little bit but not like huge fluctuations i think sets like flawless the original prism stuff like that like those tend to be things that i would expect to grow regardless of what's happening in the overall hobby i think there are some panini era cards that are desirable now but may lose favor i don't i i think i'm with you on the bubble proof thing i put that in there just to to give us a point to talk about here because i think we both love the panini cards but man i've i've seen so much feedback online that like everybody's like woah the flawless cards are getting so expensive like there are no way that they're gonna hold and blah blah i'm like i i think they're gonna get more like i think they're gonna go up they're drying up it's crazy to think but that they are starting to dry up especially the watches there's several guys after those i'm one of them tht is another one jameson multiple people collect those those i would highly say if it seems reasonable price of any watch get it now of the autograph versions because they're just gonna continue to dry up because the people buying them aren't selling them just for food for thought yep alright staying on this level the people that complain about high prices and cost of the hobby in wrestling will be unhappy forever or unlace until they change the way they approach things disagree because the word forever is is is very strong word but yeah yeah i know you're like oh he's gonna call me out on this one so i i the problem is it's not really a problem most people who don't wanna accept change or or tend to be very negative they live in the past of well i remember what it used to be what it used to cause most people are pretty one-sided that way i'm very open minded i try to think i it's different for me i i think things i approach things differently in life so i try to stay positive but i look at every outcome i can so it's it's hard to agree and disagree with this one in my opinion i like to think people will change they are hot takes i like to think people can change but some people just choose not to and that's people for you yeah i i think i think there's there's a like this is the most common reaction from people is like when tops post something when panini post something when upper deck post something it doesn't matter everybody just says like it's too expensive you've priced me out i i was listening to a podcast and somebody said we had this same reaction when boxes cost a fraction of what they do now so i think like it didn't matter it didn't matter when the prices were lower it didn't matter anything then we still got the same people saying it's too expensive it's too expensive cards will never be free so as long as it costs more than free there's always gonna be somebody unhappy and i think that the people i i i agree to a point on this that i i think people are gonna be very unhappy for a very long time if they can't get past that idea that things are too expensive and i see this everywhere on whatnot i see this everywhere on fanatics live social media it doesn't matter things are too expensive things but we're still on those platforms buying cards i i just think you gotta change your mindset and to ryan's point like i've always looked at it like hey not everything is gonna be for me not everything is gonna be something i wanna buy but i i saw i around twenty thirteen twenty fourteen time frame i just made a conscious decision to think differently about things and i think it's really helped me overall with this mindset you really that used be one of those people that complained you used to be no actually you used to be pretty big you've gotten better with your old age there my friend you've you've actually got come to the positive side no you've gotta be definitely open minded and really think outside the box with this industry there's so much opportunity out there with things that are under the radar that if if you get in front of it and you watch friends you could it could pay you dividends in time but again that's it's gonna take understanding time research but the biggest thing you need to do is be open minded and think outside the box especially in our hobby okay so that was a two pepper spicy take we're gonna go up we're gonna do one more and then we're gonna get up one more level here the panini era wwe logo cards from sets like immaculate impeccable and select will never reach peak value because they are all locked up and don't change hands enough in public forums this is a disagreement here because things eventually resurface they do come out of the woodwork things happen people change their minds i mean we just saw that rock black surface i mean you would think that's in the collection who would have thought that was gonna do that number no i disagree with this completely i i think the panini error stuff is gonna continue to grow because the name panini and what they did for the sports card and non sports card hobby was tremendous with creating things like prism flawless i mean the the sets that again where we used to compare with upper deck which was exquisite ultimate collection the things that we wish we still had in the basketball world those things continue to surface a jordan card could not surface for fifteen years comes out of the woodwork sets a record number i guess we're not talking basketball cards trustee cards but when things sell or whatever surface and then they go away for five years if it gets in the right space and gets out to a market there's enough people ready to get that let's be honest if some crazy randy orton card surfaced that i haven't seen or didn't know got ever came out you bet your butt i'm gonna go ham for it because it there's a possibility yes it may not surface again it may surface again but if i don't buy it now who knows if it'll surface again i'm probably paying more the way the market and the hobby continues to grow so this was a take i saw on facebook a few months ago because they we were discussing like top cards from the panini era somebody posted this like oh these cards don't change hands enough they'll never be of value as some of the others i will say this these are my favorite cards beyond i mean we all love prison blacks and whatever and stuff like that i do too i have all of them these are my favorite cards the w i just posted a few of them on instagram because i was making this slide i was like no i should i should take this picture like these are awesome cards ryan actually we've talked about on podcast ryan pulled me to becky lynch from immaculate so i mean like they don't change hands they are locked up but there was a a show that brett used to do on stacking slabs with nick from the wharf who did something called no recent comps i think these cards because they don't change hands often are things that will only go up and up and up in value especially the big names from big sets especially the initial immaculate ones which are player worn yes the second one are a mix of player worn and unaffiliated so like you can't really tell which is which the original ones are are player worn so like they were worn by the wrestlers i think that adds a layer of collectability to those and the cards are gorgeous cards love the select ones that they did jamison and i have talked about this forever since twenty twenty two he has the roman reigns i have the the becky lynch awesome awesome cards they're so cool i'm so happy i was able to lock all those up but i know there's people out there still on the hunt for theirs the rhea ripley one i mean if that came up again from immaculate i think it was i think the great curator owned it at one point but that card easily five figures maybe mid five figures at this point just a humongous card and i know like even ones from you like you have some randy orton ones that have massive amounts of inscriptions on them and stuff like that like those types of cards that maybe also are from the same vein i think are only gonna continue to go up i know we've been talking a lot about panini cards in this hot take segment but it it just it was on my brain and i i was like i remember these takes from social media i wanted to call them out a little bit so yeah logos are are key i have the rollins from twenty two immaculate i have the orton one zero one but he was a wrestling man same way with a player yeah which was unfortunate so i was buying those as redemptions and as soon as they started surfacing i was like oh no not mats no praying that it was gonna be a wwe logo as well but it wasn't so so be it i hope this is something that topps eventually adopts and like if they're doing player worn at some point in the future you can find these swatches more easily yeah but from the event worn stuff if you can find an event worn wwe logo like that's that's the peak of relics i think yep a lot of people are gonna say well i want the face i want this i want that i'm like it's the logo it's always the logo do you agree that you when you bounce other sports yes the logo of the actual brand sport or whatever is the most desirable collectible from somebody who buys a lot of baseball knobs barrels all that stuff love bobs and arrows bobs and jeez bobs pet knobs and barrels but nothing is better than an mlb logo man on a card or an nba logo man nfl i mean it just it's the top of the top of the line you can get yep alright we're gonna go up to the three pepper here roman reigns and john cena are the two most undervalued athletes in all of sports cards this is three pepper sorry i'm trying to compose myself i i'm going to disagree i again this is being a a fan in in wrestling and and knowing cards i think cena signs a ton he's always signed a ton yes cena has all the titles he's considered the goat i disagree in my opinion i've never been a cena guy but again this is my opinion this is me being who my mount rushmore is and i was talking with mattelis the other day about my mount rushmore again i'm an hpk orton rollins guy one more guy there i love roman reigns i think roman reigns does have potential for his cards to continue to grow up because in an era that all this stuff is out there in social media he's gonna be remembered for so much not that cena wasn't cena was before the curve of social media we saw him win seventeen yes but i think cena's cards in my opinion are overrated i think reigns is about where they're at i think they have upside but i think cena is is overrated in my opinion again my opinion my thoughts when i compare him to other people you could be buying yeah i think like this is i saw somebody respond this on on twitter once and it just got me thinking because like roman reigns especially john cena now that he's crossed over to hollywood the rock in hollywood like all of these guys definitely have a future i think being a part of the hollywood scene i don't think roman reigns is as marketable as some of these other guys just because it's it's just not who he is but he's he will end up being one of the most impactful wrestlers of all time you may not like him but it's hard to disagree that he's had all these wrestlemania main events he'll have all of these title runs he won't have seventeen i don't think i think john cena will hold that record for a while unless randy orton flip flops a few over the next few years but like there's maybe charlotte flair eventually but but back to this when i gave my take was based off wrestling this is all sports cards the person wants that's that's a lot to to throw out there so i think most of the highest value people in football in basketball baseball are younger guys or goats and i think like they are people coming out in the draft they're people with high potential or they're the goats of the games ruth jordan you know you name it even guys like lewis hamilton who i always call attention to he's had a million dollar sale he's in f one like he he's as recognizable as most of these athletes are worldwide i think roman reigns and john cena are both on that level i think the rock is on that level so i think from a value perspective and where wrestling cards sit right now they are some of the most undervalued athletes in all of sports cards i think wrestling has a ton of upside as a whole and because these guys will end up being the goats of their respective sort of generations like they have that much more potential as more people adopt i'm not gonna buy the new guys i'm gonna buy the goats strategy which has become very popular in sports cards recently so i think this is closer to true than people probably think okay fair it's your opinion fair fair that's why it's a three pepper that's why it's yeah it's it's it's yep alright we're getting down to the four pepper ones here this is extra hot collectors investors and everyone in between should treat twenty twenty four panini flawless wwe as the wrestling equivalent of two thousand three o four exquisite basketball i am going to somewhat agree with this it is a one time deal even though i don't know if i would go o three o four exquisite basketball but i get the point i i'm gonna agree in a and disagree in a way here because o three or four was revolutionary it was never done before first time ever however flawless has been done before in other sports it's been done forever how one year deal with wwe that's one and done there's so much more that they could have done with it if they had a better cooperation with the wwe i think we could have got roman autos i think there was a lot there that was missed opportunity for this product i'm sure this product was designed to be made again probably a one time deal years prior with better cooperation to where they could do the things that they needed to do unfortunately for collectors that did not happen unfortunately for panini that did not happen but i do put it in the realm of exquisite when it compares to any other wrestling product or card ever made to date royalty has been great it is not flawless what they did with royalty was add the mania patches and a lot of you know match used all that stuff love all that something that flawless couldn't have done because the level of cooperation so you have to look at it from two ways i do put it from being a collector and doing cards for a long time i love exquisite there's nothing like exquisite when you when somebody still collects a little bit of basketball has lebron exquisites you know there's nothing like that and i think when i look at flawless w two b it had so much more potential to what they could have done with it if things would have been differently and i think we missed the boat as collectors getting that but it is just beautiful exquisite is beautiful flawless is beautiful i do love immaculate i do love impeccable but to me flawless stands above all and until tops can figure out what they're gonna be able to do could dynasty be that maybe time will tell but flawless more than likely and i say never say never will never be replicated again made wwe cards unless top for some reason can buy the licensing product licensing from panini again i i i wish more could have been done with floss i wish we all didn't get one year i wish we woulda got becky lynch autos you're financially you're glad you didn't but shoulda got becky in there shoulda got roman in there there was a lot of things that we missed out on as collectors but that's way beyond our pay grade yeah i i think that's a that's a really good explanation i think flawless being one and done is why and this is my take this is this is something that i sort of inserted in here because i see of course it's your take adam of course well no no but at the way that i'm looking at it most of the other ones have been from other people dom just giving you crap i just i know i know but i like i love this is my favorite take out of them all it really is this is a really fun thing to just discuss because flawless being one and done is huge i think it is a legacy brand for panini it is always gonna be thought of the way exquisite was thought of for upper deck i think exquisite and flawless were sort of mirror images of each other in a lot of ways exquisite may not have the most valuable basketball cards of all time or the most valuable football cards of all time but it is looked at as like the peak set right it is the one that everybody looks back on and says wow like look at what they were able to accomplish and carvin has sort of been doing rounds over the last ten years on podcast as the grandfather of a lot of this yep two thousand three zero four exquisite was lebron's rookie year i don't think that there is a rookie in the set that's at lebron level yet but we have vakir we have obafemi they have rookie cards in this if they end up being some of the you know generational stars like that could be huge i think there's levels of rookie in flawless that you know they that have cards opa femi has an autograph relic card in in flawless he does like those are the types of things i was trying to draw parallels before i don't know if that came through but like i think like overall being that there's only one version of it and what it means to the overall basketball hobby what it means to the overall football hobby like this set continues to be the benchmark for a lot of reasons even though it's not event worn those star swatches that everybody loves probably unaffiliated in a lot of them but it doesn't matter because it's star swatches like people collect the hell out of those cards and like that's why this is a four pack per take i get it but like for me like i i wish becky had cards just so i could collect them just so i could go back and get them she was in the previews but there was a lot of reasons why that didn't happen same with roman like i think there's like if panini really had the opportunity to do what tops is doing now that set would have been ten times as good as good as it already is yep the gorgeous looking set gorgeous looking cards from such iconic moments for all these wrestlers and again the the sets i mean for me i was buying rollins and orton everywhere i could and i can't it was funny i was paying like sixty seventy bucks eighty buck disgusting you know and everyone that either i ripped and pulled or hit in a break i've never sold any of my rollins or orton so i have some of these guys that there may be gold tens i may have seven of the gold tens because orton rollins had a good amount of subsets in that and i actually built the hpk the rumble one where he won when bridge bulldog threw him over i pulled the one zero one i was like i'm building this rainbow i mean hpk is is one of my favorites of all time and how cool that i pulled that one that i could build it one thing to go over and compare and contrast real quick and again yes unfortunately we didn't get a lot of rookies but oba did have all those is going back to we're talking star swatches put in perspective and a lot of people aren't familiar with this because a lot of it's being sold behind closed doors but steph curry obviously had a rookie exquisite auto but it was his davidson rookie it was no patch auto it was a white shirt yes his his star swatch patch autos from flawless are insane numbers that will blow your mind away and they're selling overseas they're selling privately i know this because i pulled a couple when i went and ripped some flawless from twenty four twenty five flawless i was lucky enough that the gold to ten at the time i pulled it i thought it was you know twenty twenty five thousand dollars and i had to make a call to mc sports cards and matt fang matt sports cards and they're like yeah we're gonna help you sell this i think they got me like close to a hundred thousand dollars for that car jesus wow i was i was in shock the worst part is is that i decided to rip more i pulled that in my first box my first break face of a case i ripped and after that i couldn't pull anything to that level and i was like why did i rip more i hit the best i didn't realize at the time but it was so beautiful the last year of flawless especially football they did a great job with the last year of flawless football they loaded it up so again there is a market there in that realm of the sports card world that people don't realize in the basketball world no i'm not saying wwe is there yet it's nowhere near may never get on that level but if flawless continues to get into collections hands i love just adding another one and going through and be like oh i forgot i had that that's cool and i had the stone cold one zero one i had the of the star swatches i had the ray mysterio one zero one which is a whole massive wwe logo this pulling that yeah i had those two one o ones i think that's the only one o ones i have for that but i love tracking down the starz watch even though they're not worn or anything like that there's just beautiful i think the rhea ripley is a wwe logo is is a wwe logo it is insane card yes okay so that was that was a a four pepper take i wanna go into an insanely hot one here is here's one that is so hot i'm gonna read this and then you tell me tops will eventually create an accessible well thought out product at a very inexpensive price and it will be so universally panned that they will scrap future plans for other affordable sets in my it is homer simpson once said you can't win friends with salad lisa do i have to answer this one no my gosh nothing with the license and everything now the cost to have this stuff it's inexpensive it's like when they did when they did vape for a hundred and fifty bucks and online only the inexpensive days i think we're looking at minimum two hundred dollars a box going forward let let's say let's say they build out like a heritage paper or a tops paper product and they put it out for sale like ninety bucks a box and it eventually sells one twenty one fifty on the secondary market will people hate it so much that they will never do it again if it doesn't go up much that means it's not a good quality product it's not a product that it's it's got sustainability to go up i wouldn't think if the product the market dictates everything tops could gosh oh yeah i can talk about this this is why it's the hottest tops builds these products to be a certain price point it is built that way we've talked about this with royalty royalty was built to be here and it's up here and it's here you could rip and you're fine up here you might as well just take a kick in the nuts because that's what it is the market is always going to dictate something differently than what tops and these other companies create it is unfortunate we don't live in the times where back then when we used to be able to rip w b boxes of chrome for fifty bucks a box and it would sit there forever because it was built that way and there was no really hot market to dictate that ugh this is i don't have enough i don't have enough time to go into this i don't have enough energy to go into this but yes would i love for something like this you bet your ass owning a card shop i wish that we could have a product and tops is doing things like this right now they're doing the what they're changing the name but what was the retail reserve where they had us put topscomb w b blasters out you couldn't charge more than thirty bucks they're doing that with other products like bowman baseball and they're at a price point and guess what's happening those products are getting sucked up sold out out my door bowman baseball flew at thirty dollars a box now they're sixty dollars a box we're sold out we got like ten cases that's four hundred boxes we were sold out within a month because we stood true at the thirty dollars a box price there are ways that they're doing that however the market dictates differently yeah i think and so this was sent to me as an instant message as a response to one of my one of the posts that i did on main event or something i added that you can't win friends with salad because i know i know that i know you do that yes yes but anyways like i think overall the the idea of affordability and is is sort of dictated to the way that you explained right so even if tops puts out a box at a hundred bucks if it's a great product it's gonna be two hundred bucks three hundred bucks really quickly yep the the the quality of the product really dictates the affordability of it regardless of what tops put us puts it out on their website for i will say this that where i agreed with this person is that in order to make a product more affordable the budget has to be reduced so that they can offer it at that price so they take out some of the features that make a product popular with people so like things like autograph on card relics and stuff like that in baseball they can maybe do that in series one in wrestling maybe they don't make that level of investment because the budget won't be as high or something like that i think if you take too many elements out of it and to make it affordable or you spread the print run out super far take autograph content out like they did with cosmic and cactus jack and so on and so forth the affordability aspect of it is a problem yeah i think that's where i agree with i i wanna make one last thing and i wanna make use a perfect example here because topps did build a product like this they built logo fractor at wrestlemania one hundred dollars a box and arguably the greatest wrestling product you could rip at a affordability price point at a hundred bucks and unfortunately they limited one per and then at the end they sold a lot less but logofractor was built to be that way now granted when we were offered logofractor after mania we did not get to pay a hundred bucks we had to pay more wasn't crazy more but logofractor what is it three hundred dollars a box i don't remember yeah something like that but the market dictated because at a hundred dollars a box many people will tell you if they got to rip these at a hundred bucks luckily i got to rip some and my luck wasn't as good as others but still at a hundred bucks oh my gosh all day long i would just fiend and rip and rip and rip that stuff that is a no brainer tops built that however again market dictate differently because you made such a good product at a hundred bucks the market is triple that now or whatever it's at i don't even know what it's at anymore i'm gonna take a look but three hundred you said three hundred okay but a good a good example would be logofractor up top's building that and they're in the wrestling space in the wrestling card space they're trying to keep products more affordable they really are they're trying to go we're not looking at football we're not comparing you to football basketball they're in a different tier baseball's up here we want more people in the wrestling card space they're trying they're doing that trust us they're trying the market dictates differently so if they build a great product it's gonna be higher because of the market yeah i think that's where a lot of the paradox of this take probably exists great great example with logofractor i would say bape is a is sort of the other side of this right it's like oh it's it's kinda like it only speaks to very specific types of collectors out there so yeah it's but it's too like they cheated with chrome like anything you put chrome on is gonna be great so like whatever alright last one from oh we're not done i thought we were we got one more insanely hot take the current tops era has already done more for wrestling cards than any other any other era in the history of the space this is the hottest take on the thing curious what's your thoughts i will give you this the marketing that they have been put behind wrestling cards and marketing everything tops is doing is bar none they've done some incredible marketing to make more people aware are they doing that yes ever hard to say i don't wanna be such a a panini guy on this guy in this take you know but they again prism perfect example when they came out twenty two was built to be a hundred fifty dollars a box market went stupid saying those boxes in the first month got to fifteen eighteen hundred dollars a box now they're back down to you know two hundred and something bucks but i wanna say i will give tops this when i say they're doing an amazing job in the marketing they're doing a phenomenal job in the marketing nobody has ever put the amount of money into the marketing what they're doing in sports cards and cards as a whole across any landscape before and i think we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg i think there's more to come but i i think panini built something really more towards the wrestling collectors they whoever well we know who is behind it that person behind it was truly a big wrestling fan and put a lot of thought effort and energy not seeing the guys on the time spread now because they are but i think that they there was something different with what they did and i think it was they knew they had a short well they didn't know but eventually they knew on on release day release week that they had a short window to do this so they had to do this right and i think they really did that right but they did that with with the mindset of a collector and a wrestling fan who really was like i'm gonna make this in my eyes the best it can be and they really did a great job do i love a lot of stuff tops doing hundred percent the the debut patch is awesome the mania patches outside the box we're gonna continue to get that but to to say you know more than any other era really hard to say because wrestling cards were never made to be originally what they are today they were never to be to the level and again sports cards same thing baseball cards are created for kids they were made to be fun and they were never made to be quote unquote valuable you know and and everything changed so it's again i gotta go back to the marketing amazing job love what they're doing in marketing space and really getting the awareness out there that there are wrestling cards because we get people coming all the time like i didn't realize they had wrestling cards i'm like oh we came to the right place you came to the right place brother we're gonna most most places you go to maybe have one two three boxes let me show you i feel like danny mcbride at this is the end like willie's cooking the food and stuff he's like doing the food food let me show you a wrestling card oh my god i wanna be there for one of those times where somebody comes into your store like that they they have and and it's just like and then they they leave and they probably go somewhere else like i feel like you have like a choreographed dance where all the people come out from behind the counter and they start doing like in any way like opeloopa dance yeah exactly let me show you the wonders of the willy wonka chocolate factory here so i i the only thing i have to say to add because i think your your explanation is perfect the the only thing i'll add here is i've been on record on a number of podcasting the panini era is bar none gonna be the best was the best era of wrestling cards period i i i no one is gonna convince me otherwise but you have to be prepared for this take to be true and i think like we were only a year and a couple of months into this so it's really hard to say that this has already done more than anything else in the pre like we're only a year into this and they didn't have a great twenty twenty five so like i think we have to be prepared for this to be true in the future i think the future yes i think the future you're right yeah because we know we know that they're gonna get more cooperation all around the brand team and everything like that to do more things as more eyes continue to come on because let's be honest topps is focused lately as we just got the football license we just got the basketball license they gotta put a lot of effort energy in and they've done a phenomenal job i think wwe is eventually gonna get a lot more eyes on it a lot more accessibility to that area and i think they're gonna be able to do more things than we could ever imagine so in the future yes i gotta say it at the moment the marketing yes i think as we can yes again this is i'm excited to see what they could do in the future i i mean i i once i always want to see something better i always wanna you know just when brady retired and he was done he's the goat of all time i wanna see somebody be better than brady you know i wanna i wanna see that in my life i wanna be able to go wow this guy was better than that i don't wanna go oh no nobody's ever gonna be better than this guy i wanna be open minded i wanna say holy crap albert pujols and barry bonds what what a time to be alive to watch both those athletes play in the respected sport i always root for something else better not just an athlete just in this situation right here i wanna just go wow wow they just did that that's awesome cannot wait to see what they do next yeah i i think like man panini did some incredible stuff and they they made this topps era possible so like what panini did in twenty two through twenty four made this era possible and even though we all say well topps has access we have this we have that like i i don't i don't think that there's a future that exists where this isn't true and that's i think we it's not true right now but it will be mhmm alright i wanna rapid fire some of these i'm not gonna go through all of them because these are from the community and i i love some of them they were so funny so at cards cards cards what up john out there shut up john yep says obafemi cards are gonna dip hi ryan and adam depending on how they play store line it'll dip but it'll be a good buy dip could be if he does if they dip buy the dip buy the dip buy the dip they dip buy because there there's there's a rocket that's there's a freaking missile on that man let's be honest yep i'd say i'd say that one's a two pepper one big al's cards topps needs a program to reward wrestling super collectors and bring more eyes to space i like that definitely agree with this we are both super collectors i've talked to them about this this is something that i brought up to jeremy and the team i i really hope they take this under advisement that's sort of a one pepper one because i think that's what everybody wants at cool figs great always listens love him too many moments cards quote unquote moments cards would rather have the studio shots i cannot disagree with this one more like i'm sorry dude i want action photography i hate the studio shots i want action so this is a this is a hot this is a four pepper for you yes wrestling is about moments it's about memories i i'm with you on this one i'm all about the moments so i disagree yeah that's a four pepper one at gold blooded collectibles another big listener cosmic is dookie always has been always will be every sport i i'd give that a two or a three pepper i don't know if i agree with that it's not complete dookie but it has some improve room for improvement for sure yep i'm gonna agree with you at d g v collects one on ones are overrated too many available in one product to the same wrestler oh this is this is a four pepper one i don't even know where to start here there are a lot of one on ones there are a lot of one on ones are they overrated in some cases that brett brought it up liquid great cards are not always liquid cards i think it kinda fits into that i i don't think one on ones are overrated especially for certain some of the ones that they've been creating the last five ten years i disagree with this one yeah i've got a great relationship with leaf but leaf just makes too many damn one on ones and they know that and i think that's overrated and this one i i mean i think the true collectors want to get though as many one on ones as they can within the budget they're willing to spend you're trying if you're ripping or you're you're trying to pull your goal is to pull one on one it it it really is you wanna pull that one zero one because hey you can you could charge x or y or z you know it it could be a higher market so i think one on ones are very desirable collectible i don't think they're overrated but with leaf and wild card yeah i'll give you that at ryan ryan chirowski we go back and forth on main event all the time until topps figures out a way to get wwe collectors to value rookies like other collectors do and get relevant rookies into the product quickly wwe cards will never act or reach the heights of other sports i'd give that three or four peppers that's an interesting take it is i i like that take i think that's a good thought about take because the one thing people gotta remember a wrestling a wrestler's longevity could be a very long time and sometimes it takes time and if you're patient enough the rewards could benefit because let's be honest with you some of these people that get one gimmick name becomes somebody else eight years down the line could have been a twenty year old and takes time i mean that happens in sports but it's it's hard and the biggest thing is a lot of these wrestlers are fake names so they're not real most of the time so i think that goes hand in hand and if again walter was gunther was walter in twenty two prism so i mean like yeah walter was in tops before so it's a little little i don't know i kinda agree with three or four pep per take yeah i i i'll i'll ryan ryan nailed it but like yeah rookies need to be more important i i agree with ryan on that and i i know he's a big proponent of collecting the rookies and stuff like that so i i don't think that's a bad position to be in if you're buying those at lower values knowing that hey the nxt guys the the guys becoming may like it's prospecting like that's what this is and i think it's a it's a great take dex brett wanted us to cover this take specifically he hates bron breakker that brett ridden hole over this one dexter on twitter if you don't follow dexter go check him out at dex flow toys one bron breakker's overrated to me if you are investing in men's wrestlers it's oba trick and logan paul logan paul doesn't have cards so that's other than the tops now ones i don't think it's gonna happen in the foreseeable future but i i don't agree that bron breakker's overrated as much as brett and and dex do dexter definitely tugged at some heartstrings from brett here but bron breakker has really seen a dip in value ever since he sort of like that injury which sort of took him off the track he was on so i i i think his values are were a little bit overinflated for sure so that's where this is a two or three pepper one but yeah i i don't disagree that oba and trick are are huge investments now for sure yeah i think trick is still a really good buy if you follow his market he's he's very affordable compared to breaker i would rather buy trick over breaker i think i think just because of what trick's cards are going for versus breaker i i think trick's got such a promising future obas right now are scorching hot could they get hotter yeah could they dip first yeah very possible so i don't think breaker's overrated i'm with you again the the injury and everything like that but they have a bright future for him lined up breaker has got the it factor in my opinion he's gonna be there yeah he's a legacy too so yep alright at f h j seven three three stupid arguments among the community bring down everyone and make wrestling collectors look bad and inexperienced this is a two pepper take because it's not even a question it's absolutely true mhmm so i mean like this is this isn't even really a hot take this is just if you're if you're in one of those arguments and i've been in them trust me i'm very experienced in this ryan you so never yeah oh come on people don't like that people don't like me man people don't like me i am a heel in real life and i i definitely agree that stupid arguments especially petty grudges and stupid shit like yeah it brings down everyone makes us look bad agree a hundred percent yeah i'm just gonna leave it at that that that there's there's nothing to to it so yeah alright last take and we've gone a little bit long here on this but the rule of forty four stop saying this thing or that thing ruined wrestling cards it only ruined it for you thanks for the show boys this is this again not not a spicy take but it's one that needs to be said so i'll give it a two pepper yes i see this so much i'm gonna scream into the microphone i see this all the time and i'm glad somebody sent this in via my thing on instagram because like i hate seeing people say this thing or that thing ruin sports cards or ruin wrestling cards yeah it only ruined it for you because we're all having a fucking blast man yeah i i don't use the word i don't like using the word hate or anything like that and yeah with you i'm just gonna end it with that there you go alright that was hot takes wrestling card edition hope that was fun ryan that was fun i love was fun i love getting you fired up man it's always it was good i i i again with my brain the way i think things i i like it because i have no idea what's coming and i get to process what i honestly think at the moment and and i make you better i'm trying to make you better so we do people come into your shop make me better do come into your shop and throw these things around you are prepared alright let's get into some big sales really fast here there was a couple of big ones from royalty couple ones from cosmic i wanna cover this dual autograph relic booklet of gunther and luvind kaiser sold via via via best offer on ebay for forty five hundred dollars this is the one zero one dual relic auto booklet from royalty awesome looking card really cool patches too they have looks like there's some stitching in both of the relics big number here i chad did not get it so i'm sure somebody who's a big gunther collector actually did well this is a lot of money for a card half half the card the guy's retired lube kaiser's retired from wrestling you're never gonna see him again so he should stay retired i hope he does i hope so too yeah the starfractor from alexa bliss the one zero one this is a weird set man like can i just say i don't understand starfractors the it's kinda like sapphire where they have like the pink one of ones and they're not super fractures i i don't really get it but the alexa bliss sold via auction and it's not a zero feedback guy so it sold for twenty six hundred forty nine dollars it was out of china so i think this is probably under maybe what the value is just because people don't wanna deal with the importing and stuff like that i know i'm i'm there china is a sort of subject for me with importing cards at the moment but yeah twenty six hundred forty nine dollars i mean it seems about right where i would have expected in this to go given that yeah for alexa for her market yeah mid twos that's about right i don't know what the star frackers tend to go for i think the wembeys and the cooper flags probably go for multiple tens of thousands of dollars but for like people who are i i don't know what they what they sell for in other sports but this was a big number for me or a big sort of point in in data to sort of base my understanding of some of the other cards i think i got becky really cheap not the one zero one but other ones and so i think like maybe the star factors haven't caught on as much we'll see yeah i'm i'm not huge on them but it's a one zero one so yeah overrated speaking they're overrated speaking of one zero ones the one zero one roman reigns cosmic based super fracture sold for twenty four twenty five this was an auction did go to a a legit bidder it looks like it sold on ebay last week or this week actually awesome photo i've i'm not i've said it a million times i'm not a fan of the base design but i think the base one of ones have looked better than the autograph super factor one of ones because it doesn't have that obscuring window where they sort of had to had the people sign this card looks pretty cool though no the the card looks great itself i think this is actually a pretty good buy in my opinion for roman his market i i think being cosmic chrome it's a first year in wwe maybe the last we don't know i think this got this got a pretty good buy in my opinion for the rest yeah i think this is low i i would have expected this to go in the four yeah range it's kinda what i thought when you guys when i saw this i'd expect to see that closer to the four ish forty five hundred so go keep going fast here because we're we're already running over shocker there john cena's two thousand seven chrome heritage number one so this is the card number one in the set out of super factor out of twenty five sold for twenty two hundred fifty dollars i saw this number and i was like wow that is a lot of money for a card out of twenty five yeah that's again i get what the set is they were superfracture twenty five they if you ever wanna look for these make sure that they are serial numbered ones the there's a bunch of no number ones out there they're so valuable they're more or less backdoor type ones or whatever kinda got off the printer or whatever like that but you wanna have the ones that are actually serial numbered of twenty five i think this is one of the best looking older john cena cards like the photo is great the the design is is from a really iconic year of baseball baseball yep and i mean those even go look at those baseball you know heritage ones that these are based off of it's it's awesome but the the sena thing is continuing to show that his value has room to grow these never come up for auction i think the batista even sold for like a thousand dollars or something but seeing john cena go for twenty two fifty i'm i'm not like i i'm i wanna say i'm not shocked but i'm still shocked they they continue to i i think this will go up i think this will continue to go up alright one second can i add a card to that please yeah please do i gotta i wanna tell a story in the card real quick i know we're on a good time so the card thousand dollars sold for it because i bought it pretty cool story the randy orton again back to my terrible luck yes back to my terrible luck with the topps now stuff the wrestlemania sets that came out what were they seventy bucks ish seventy seventy bucks what'd i buy twenty five thirty i can't remember maybe fifty of these damn things i am done ever buying another topps now ever again we i ripped my kid let my ribs my kids my kids ripped them and i think the best we got was like number to twenty fives horrible the guy on facebook posts he buys one doesn't do a lot of wrestling but he bought one he said he saw something online buys one hits the randy horton gold one of one what do they call the gold foil fractor foil fractor that's it hits it the image on this card is the randy horton saint louis shirt which he only wore once when he was at smackdown saint louis which i was at with my family with my staff we burned out a suite and went went to so obviously i wanted this car surfaces thank you to everybody on facebook they tagged me long story short the guy hits me up dm messaged me on facebook we started talking he said it could be this this he said i i'm hearing four hundred up to a thousand ria did fifteen hundred i said look ria is going always bring more than randy just with her market i think this card is in the seven eight range however i'm willing to pay a thousand dollars because i was there and he's like perfect done deal money's gonna help out for something personal i said that's awesome notice the guy was in saint cloud minnesota i said what are the odds you're pretty close to monticello and he said fifteen minutes i said would you like to would you be willing to meet me my buddy shopped this in like two days and i'll i'll meet you there and give you the money he's like sure i don't go work till late this guy's name is also ryan i wanna give a shout out to ryan again doesn't probably listen to podcast or anything but he came there for the crazy grand opening which adam was at tons of people don't think the guy knew what he expected but came in i met him i got a picture with him holding the card i'm gonna post that at some point and maybe before after this podcast but what are the odds that that kinda all came together and again it's it just shows you how amazing the wrestling card community is that enough people were tagging me and the guy's like i'm here and you're the guy and i said you know what this card i want this card to go with me but what are the odds that you're gonna be so close to where i am i've been in minnesota in two years or whatever it was this weekend so really cool story thousand hours bought it don't care if it's worth six hundred seven hundred eight hundred it's it's a perfect card for my collection i had terrible luck with those sets too i did had worse luck than you did i think done i'm with tops now yeah tops now makes sense when it's a moment that you care about that obviously it's something that resonated with you because you were at the show so it's a great looking card i love the way that they look those sets did not treat me well glad you got the one zero one i'm still out there looking for the becky for sure both the i do i did get as i've said on the podcast i got the autograph one zero one i'm looking for the base one zero one of the night one cards and i am i am looking for the wrestlemania autograph so there there were on card autographs for that set so that i i still wanna see like how those i i haven't seen any listed on ebay yeah i'm curious how they look with the card how they change the card stock great story though shout out to the community for helping ryan with that one i they helped me too i can't say enough good things we we talk about it all the time thank you let's acknowledge our sponsors for wrestling card takeover approaching a month my friend approaching a month i cannot believe it yeah mc sportscards we've mentioned a couple of times sportscards junction chad brando and john and everybody rudy everybody at the team at card shop live great work that they do there for blaz online use code takeover twenty get twenty percent off your phase your first pack they just did some awesome wrestling packs this weekend for father's day i i ended up pulling a few really nice cards card ladder we talk about all the time chris christina josh everybody there amazing team stephanie and mama breaks check them out on fanatics live doing a bunch of stuff thc sports cards brian can't say enough about what he does for everybody bcw wax culture i do wanna call out wax culture sent me oh let's see this the whole awesome like cup that with one of my breaks that i did with them for cosmic so thank you to the guys at wax culture for that card vault by tom brady just bought into one of their breaks over the the weekend and had a great time with them so be sure to check them out and if you wanna join us friday july thirty first at the embassy suites make sure you email book to last podcast at gmail dot com let us know you're on that you're on your way you just made the list we're gonna do it every week every week adam good job we're gonna do it it's gonna be awesome this is gonna be so much fun i think we're gonna have a ton of people there and that's a little scary adam at the point of this recording we are in the mid thirties days less than forty days out from when i was listening to you guys on podcast and tyson is like we're stressing there's a lot to do neil's on vacation all this week however the shirts that we're working on for rusty gonna take over they're basically ready to go we just gotta get the quantities and stuff like that which neil's gonna be working on with me next week when he gets back so got a lot of things in the works again thank you to our sponsors we couldn't do this without you this is gonna be awesome i don't think we can reiterate this enough as we get closer i think we're gonna continue to die more and more talking about this event so if you're gonna be at the national come on out absolutely free a lot of free stuff given away everything about this event is free that's the best part thanks to our sponsors awesome alright in that vein we've always talked about and you mentioned this all the time you break with the people that you like you you said you wanna support them you wanna and you did it and like you told me in minnesota too like when you were here like i wanna support my friends i wanna i will buy to make sure that they get my support as well so that brought me to this question we have five breakers give or take that are part of the sponsorship of wrestling card takeover what in your mind makes a good breaker here are some of the cardvault mama breaks card shop live wax culture blez does a bunch of breaks as well we break with all of these guys personally what do you think makes a good breaker if we're gonna talk wrestling cards in general with this i honestly think the most important thing to me is that their knowledge of wrestling that they can actually pronounce the wrestler names they could talk stories they they know the the brand they understand the wrestling card scope watch wrestling in general you know that's big i think how the entertainment is with these breakers how they hold themself on camera the excitement that they get with you because they're like hey i love this wrestler or resonate with that those are important also again how they conduct their business how well they process orders those are key things there's a lot to go with it but when it's a wrestling scope i think the most important for me thing is is knowing the actual wrestling brand not the product the brand of wrestling and knowing and being up with the storylines knowing that oba's on fire right now knowing that where we're at with things i think those are very important things and that's why the names that we have here are ones that are are the best in my opinion some of the best in this industry at ripping wrestling cards because there's people who are predominantly main sports and they do wrestling because they get allocation but i can't go in there and support them because i'm like dude you couldn't pronounce that name you don't know what you're talking about you could care less about that car because you're just breaking it because you have to break it i don't wanna break with people like that i wanna break with people who care about the cards care about the industry who care about the wrestling community yeah agreed and we partnered with these five because of how much they mean to us as collectors and what we do with them i mean i i almost exclusively break with these five people but and i talk about all the things that they bring to the table community building especially is is a big sort of thing for me is like you get to know the people in the rooms you get to know the breakers breakers really build sort of like that entertainment value in the community but here's a couple of things number one i like breakers who are entertaining i like them you know as the sort of emcee of the break mhmm it takes a long time to fill breaks sometimes and be having somebody on camera who knows what they're doing can talk wrestling with the crew like all of those things like brian just mentioned really help to make that time pass by more easily and also they're not doing it they're not purposely doing things to manipulate the prices in their breaks they're not like trying to like extend out a break so that they can get more money out of it they're they're fair to their customers they do the and that's why i think like i used to like card shop live has been doing wrestling for a very long time stephanie has been doing wrestling for a really long time bless has been doing wrestling for a very long time like all of these guys they know how to do this and i wanna shout out rgl as well because he does a tremendous job there's there's a lot more here that aren't on this list that we that that we both break with yeah exactly the ones again we didn't wanna go overboard but you know if a lot of them reached out there's a couple we didn't go with because they'd elected to do something else but there's a lot of other great ones these are just the ones that are partnering with us so just know that we're not sitting here saying these are the who it like these are the sponsors of wrestling yes that's the reason why but then the rgl james good's great you know they're us those people the all star the all sports ones the all star ones whatever we break with those there's a lot more that that you and i both break with latent sports cards they do a lot with as well too so yeah and like alex and breaker mayfield and mma stark like i mean there's a million guys out there that do so i don't want people thinking oh they just out in we're not trying to we're not trying to say that yes because these people also do the same things that we're talking about yes exactly but i think the the most important thing is like number one i don't like breakers who complain about prices in the stream i think that's really something that drives me nuts unprofessional i'm i like the pros i wanna break with somebody who's a pro they ship fast shipping is a huge part of what makes a good breaker secure when you hit a big card they package it differently stuff like that really adds to the experience but i think most importantly like that on camera talent really is is what sets a lot of them apart and these five that we're mentioning here as part of the sponsors like they are people who have great people on camera and like you know i i've talked to david filthbaum about this as well like because he really makes it a point dave's great yeah makes it a point to be very engaging on camera and he always welcomes people into the room and stuff like that i've talked about it with him a number of times and like those are the types of things i think drive so many aspects of our industry and i always hear breakers have ruined this hobby and i cannot disagree with that more i i think they do a a valuable service in a lot of spicy take yeah so anyways i i it's a i just wanted to call this out because we always talk about hey we break with these people because we love them well let's actually say what makes them great and i think we we've covered that here good point anything else you wanna cover on this topic before we wrap up here no i think you and i both kinda hit that and again there's so many other people i we would love to shout out obviously on this but again i i i'm gonna go with everything that adam said i i'm standing by what i said you know and tops is very big and fanatics is big on this as well they wanna partner with the best of the best breakers they wanna make sure that you're doing this not just in wrestling but this is important they wanna know they're partnering with us shops the partner in breakers they wanna make sure that you're giving out entertainment that you're staying positive that they want to allow you to get their product to invest in you know so this is something that just isn't in this space this is something tops fanatics the higher ups are very big about and and rightfully so it should be you know we want you to walk in our shop and feel welcome we wanna give you entertainment we wanna give you a a great place to go these breakers doing the same thing yeah they're you know with breaking with the shop you have to travel and go to it with the breaker you just open up your phone you can go to whatnot you can go to finax live you go to youtube also you have competition everywhere at your fingertips it's different in a shop you have to go to it this is where like what are you doing to differentiate yourself than the other people are you conducting everything correctly these are important things and your chance because you may have a split second to gain a new customer by the way you hold yourself and engage with the community yeah and this is something that i think swish does better than anybody in this space is he builds relationships at blez with everybody who yep he who are his best customers and i i love working with him because he he makes it easy make it easy social media is also a big thing i totally forgot to talk about that breakers who can't function on social media you need to pick up your game stop using ai graphics use your tool sets the best you can like really invest the time and i think it'll pay off in in the long run yep find ways to be awesome to your community to your people like to your employees to your collect i mean all that stuff well we've beat this to death on a number of we have but just wanted to call out that as a topic here i think that's it another hour and a half long show this one was fun though you gotta fun i i thought we would get this done in an hour but you threw me for a curveball i didn't know all this is coming thanks adam i'd be gone for four days i got all this work no this is fun this is what it's about i i like these curveballs it was a good time a good podcast great seeing you again this weekend my friend hey i haven't seen you in years and i get to see you in in like a month twice in like a month like in like a forty day span so i'm excited so this has been fun yeah we're i'll we're we're gonna i i keep hinting of what we're gonna do next week i don't know what we're gonna do next week we're gonna find something awesome i'll i mean we're coming to the countdown man we're gonna be less than almost thirty days out from the nationals we gotta do our national show yeah gotta we gotta start getting on that maybe we'll get some of these guests on too or from our sponsors who knows we we got some things up our sleeve but i hope everybody has a wonderful week weekend whenever you're listening to this and happy father's day to all the dads out there yes happy father i hope that it was good by the time you listen to us it's about a week past enjoy enjoy the matches this weekend hopefully we get yes hopefully we will come on next week and be complaining all week but with that we'll see you next week big gulps see you later
